Tuberose

Such a gorgeous bubblegummy tuberose that deserves so much more attention among tuberose aficionados. Like Moon Bloom, this one’s a game-changer. It’s also a green and fresh tuberose, like almost fully bloomed but still unfurling. The petals are creamy white and velvety to the touch. Plays so beautifully with nutmeg and other slightly peppery spices. Vanilla lends a little sweetness but the perfume is not gourmand. The scent is warm and welcoming but also sensual. Reminds me of warm summer nights on the beach. This is my kind of tuberose! It does not smell vintage despite the (very minimal) oakmoss in the base. Definitely a modern tuberose. I’m almost out of my sample direct from Daniel Josier, so I purchased a FB, and it’s on my Top 5 now. Edit: I just noticed that the notes say “vanilla flower”. Not vanilla. That makes a lot more sense! If you are familiar with the original Dior Addict, it’s similar to that creamy spice of the “orchid” note. Tuberose reminds me of the original Organza. The color of juice of both perfumes is a gorgeous dark red that makes me wonder if there is natural nutmeg oil in their formulas. The two perfumes have many notes in common, such as nutmeg, tuberose, white flowers, amber, vanilla. If you miss Organza, you should definitely try Tuberose! I own both, and I would say they're in the same vein but certainly aren't identical.

Gorgeous. So far wearing this in the summer months and it is a creamy and yet fresh floral. I do get the nutmeg, some spicy tagetes at the beginning but they give way quite quickly to the floral aspects. The blending is perfection as the base notes amp up - you never lose the floral aspect - it doesn't just dry down to an average woody base. The oakmoss and musk combo create a very tiny bit of animalic, very slightly dirty muskiness that is gorgeous and not too much for summer. I just know that winter wear is going to bring out some delightful complexity and I cannot wait!

Green and luscious tuberose, if you've ever smelled carnal flower, and you've also smelled Miller Harris Tuberosa/Madonna Truth or Dare/Petit Fracas, Daniel Josier's Tuberose sits somewhere in between those fragrance. Like I said above, it's green, but not as camphorous as Carnal Flower, it still has the sweetness and creaminess from ylang ylang, just not too much as well as being a bit spicy. Overall it's a very balanced tuberose fragrance that should please even the blid buyers, and with great longevity and silage, everyone can be a winner.

A nutmeg bomb of a perfume. Very easily unisex, reminds me of JPG Classique and Cacherel by Cacherel. Tuberose balances it out and it becomes a creamy, slightly salty scent that is reminiscent of hot summer holiday nights. This is a powerful scent.

The most beautiful tuberose fragrance I have ever smelled.

Honestly, I like this perfume but it reminds me a lot of Vanderbilt by Gloria Vanderbilt, which is a much cheaper fragrance than this. I do like Tuberose by Daniel Josier more than Vanderbilt by Vanderbilt, though. It is like a higher quality and more expensive version of it. I don't really see the comparisons to Organza by Givenchy, though. Organza has the honeysuckle, gardenia and iris in it, whereas this doesn't. The notes I am getting the strongest in this are the tuberose, the nutmeg, the spices, the osmanthus, the marigold and the heliotrope in that order. I get a big helping of vanilla and amber at the end as well. The marigold smells similar to carnation to me and a lot of these notes here you can find in Vanderbilt by Gloria Vanderbilt as well. It is a sort of spicy and vanilic white and yellow floral to me, but not what I would call a realistic tuberose scent like the name would have you believe. This perfume is missing many of the green, indolic and mentholated facets that one finds in tuberose flowers in nature. I find this perfume very ladylike and elegant, but it does kind of remind me of something that someone like Barbara Walters or Ivanka Trump would wear. A sort of wealthy mature woman's perfume from the 1980's and early 1990's, the woman dressed in a pastel power suit with large shoulder pads, big blonde hair, chunky gold clip-on earrings from Chanel or Givenchy, strings of pearls around her neck and Mary Jane Chanel flats. I couldn't imagine most younger women being into this, personally. This fragrance would work nicely for the spring and the fall, but would wear nicely on the skin for the summer too. It would suit the day time more, because of its sunny notes and its less serious character that it has. There is definitely a freshness to it from the tangy grapefruit and the zing from the pink pepper. I got 8 hours wear time and a moderate sillage from Tuberose by Daniel Josier, so I think that this is worth the money for sure. I just think that you could get a very similar effect from Vanderbilt by Gloria Vanderbilt for much cheaper, which is why I would give this fragrance a 7.3/10 altogether.

I purchased samples of this and Golden Tuberose, also from this brand, and even though there are slight differences in the formulas after the dry down they smell the same. The main difference are the gold flakes (well, duh!) in the gold version. Since the gold version is more than two times the price of the original tuberose version, I would suggest going with the first version of this scent rather than this new version. In addition to being more expensive, the gold version is also much lighter and doesn't perform as well as the original version. I also always worry when gold flakes are added to a fragrance for fear that it will eventually clog up the sprayer, which might be another good reason to avoid it. As far as the fragrance, it is a beautiful bubblegum tuberose white floral scent with a slight gourmand twist. The spices are very subtle here, so if you are concerned about that, don't be. I thought it might be spicy from reading the reviews, but it is barely noticeable. The ylang gives a hint of the tropics and the heliotrope a little bit of powder. The amber and vanilla are strong here but not enough to overpower the floral notes, but you will be very aware that they are there. I think because of their heavy use, this fragrance would be better suited for cold weather wear. It's in the 70s where I live today and it is wearing a little heavy. While this is very pretty, it's not very original. If I didn't know the manufacturer I would have guessed it was something from Micallef, Initio, Kilian, Isabey, Chabaud, or any number of other houses that have lots of floral fragrances in their lines that lean gourmand with their heavy use of amber and vanilla. Since I already have plenty of fragrances like that, I don't need another one. Pretty as this is, I'll take a pass.

Once again with fear, as with all Josier perfumes in which I have been wondering if the investment would be worth it (only to be answered so far always yes), I bought Tuberose because I love the tuberose note. What worried me in this case was that it could maybe be too similar to my other perfumes with this as the main note. What I found, however, is a perfume different from others in my collection, with a very natural and realistic tuberose that is garnished with slightly spicy aspects that make it very special and warm. I especially love noticing very clearly the nutmeg note, so unusual to feel prominently. The floral heart of the perfume, with tuberose as the main character, is also beautifully enhanced by a delicious touch of ylang ylang, which provides its characteristic sweetness, and by a subtle aroma of carnation. Despite this being a powerful floral composition, to my nose it is closer to being clean than animalic or indolic. As a whole, it is a heavy but bearable floral, one of those that I find very sensual and I enjoy a lot. It may be more feminine-leaning but its spicy aspects can make it unisex. It has a moderate projection and lasts more than 12 hours on my skin. As for similarities mentioned with fragrances that I know well, at times it reminds me of Organza but the type of tuberose it has is nothing like those that appear in Watch by Micallef. After having tried it, I think that, if you like floral perfumes, it is a great fragrance. A beautifully worked tuberose. Very creamy, luscious and inviting without being heavy or dark like Fracas. Very similar to Carnal Flower but without the eucalyptus and the sunny banana. I simply adore the three of them but I would decant my fondness for Tuberose by Daniel Josier since Carnal Flower had a very bad longevity on my skin. Sillage and longevity are excellent, the tuberose here is the queen although you can feel the ylang-ylang, some musk and vanilla. The other notes are very short lived and I could barely feel them. So if you don’t like dark, heavy and indolic tuberose, this is a great option. Josier was a very interesting discovery for my taste!

A smooth, soft, creamy, spicy tuberose. Easy to wear even if your skin usually doesn't like tuberose. Big silage and excellent longevity.
