Harvest Season

My second sampling from d’Annam is Harvest Season, a fresh medley of citruses, pink pepper, hay, violet, and vetiver, not especially citric or fruity or sharp, but a bit of each, along with some gravitas from (in my opinion) the hay. The violet strikes me as the standout of the entire mix, used judiciously but feeling like a logical bridge between the citruses and hay. Overall, it’s very nice and a less sweet alternative to Da Lat, my first try of the line from yesterday (the Chapter 1 collection was released in its entirety in 2023 at the same time, though, I believe). The entire line is priced at $120 for 50ml, in EDP concentration, and sold via the house site primarily, though Luckyscent sells five of the nine scents in the line, currently. I ordered my discovery set from the house website directly, and the presentation on both the discovery set and (from what I can tell) the boxes is very nice. 8 out of 10

If it has harvest in the name... its a banger. The opening is citrusy, and i'm surprised to not see any amber in here, maybe that's just me. It reads very fresh and retains a zest, which some people might read as more masculine, though I disagree. The pink pepper is there, but is blended wonderfully, and isn't overbearing in ways i otherwise often find it. Over time it settles, but retains that brightness, with the slight woodiness coming out, and becoming more aromatic! It's so great to get whiffs of. A really good longevity and decent sillage as well. Imo this would be a great gym/office frag. Edit: I can't stop coming back to this fragrance. I don't know what it is, but the citrus is so well blended and balanced. Da Lat, Harvest Season, and Monsoon Tea have established this as one of my new favourite fragrance houses.

This scent smells like what I feel like it would be to be a young child running freely in a golden field. Middle school, still weeks away and you're not yet old enough to know parted friendships nor heartbreak. Its a beautiful, nostalgic fragrance. At first sniff, the grapefruit is ever so present and strong but it dies down into a more powdery scent, which I normally dislike. Here, that powdery note is calming and simple, unlike the usual baby powder, baby wipe, or old vintage makeup that I tent to associate with powder smelling fragrances. I guess I kind of recognize it as a nice, fresh and clean deodorant, if that paints a better picture? But anyways, I'd recommend this fragrance to all of yall 8.5/10 <3

For most will be disappointed due to the lack of hay note, but this is such a lovely scent. This is the only full bottle fragrance, I've bought from Chapter 1, its sunny warm citrus, all the way through and its so uplifting and refreshing.

Call me a simpleton but I enjoy this one a lot. Citrusy, lightly masculine-leaning, attractive to me. I love Japanese Whiskey for nights out on my husband, and this one seems like a lovely daytime companion to that scent.

I get this jammy citrus that I believe is grapefruit. My father smelled this and told me it reminded him of home (Vietnam, of course). In my opinion, maybe the most underrated of the first chapter.

Love this. It’s one of my favourites from d’Annam’s chapter 1. It has this airy sort of quality - a gentle scent, but still noticeable to others.

Absolutely surpassed my expectations...wow...so nice and fresh...really pleasant unisex fragrance

Sticky grapefruit juice, golden orange pulp, fruit you bite straight into, harvest basket still in hand, no ceremony yet maybe ritual. Not quite full midsummer technicolor, but a moody, content colourgrade. Ripe syrup mixing with sour nectar, staining fingers, elbows, necklines. But don't read this as gourmand, because in steps that strong gust of vetiver. Crisp grassy, not so much dusty or tobacco-like but instead a breeze of green shot through the golden haze. The contrast is beautiful: juice running down your chin, days spent in a fresh wheat field, clad in the starched white cotton collar of your boyfriend's scent. Masculine, not macho but just realistically real.

At first, VERY citrusy with a hint of pink pepper and violet. Salty? This is an odd one to me. I think D'Annam kind of missed the mark here, but truthfully, I'm not one to say. The tester pack this comes in paints a picture of "Vietnam's countryside during the rice harvest season" but I more so get eating a slightly salty lime with green tea. It's a nice scent, and could work well for a good amount of people, but I think the description is a little misleading.

The only one I somewhat like from the entire chapter 1—a rather unique citrus scent.

Far too citrusy for something called Harvest! It starts so bright and sparkling that I actually double-checked the name to make sure I was smelling the right perfume. I expected something more grounded, grainy, or rice-leaning but I don’t get any rice nuance at all; and it feels more like a citrus harvest . Imagine plucking unripe oranges straight from the trees and tossing them into wooden crates: that kind of vivid, zesty energy. There’s a floral facet as well; I personally get something lily-of-the-valley-like, the kind of bright, crisp floral tone that borders on a cleaning spray vibe; though rose is what’s listed. Patchouli is present too, not at an off-putting level, and here it leans more on its airy, fresh side. As for the drydown: the citrus settles, vetiver begins to appear, and if the harvest theme fits anywhere, it’s probably this stage but certainly not the overall mood. I don't get the "smells like" section because this doesn't smell like TDH IMO, maybe the the first 5 mins sure theres some similarity, but it then goes into a heavy cumin like scent profile very reminiscent of Declaration or NR bleu noire. It's a nice fragrance, eventually the spiciness subsides but I think that as pleasant as this is, it is not worth the price tag they are asking, considering the fragrances I just mentioned are much cheaper and IMO superior. I've tried 3 from the house and this one has been the weakest of the bunch, but it's still nice just not 160 bucks for 50 ml nice.

This is an ultra powdery and herbal floral with dry woodiness. There is a heavy hand of patchouli in this which isn’t my favorite and it happens to be veryyy dusty. It’s rounded out by a medley of powdery violet, vintage rose, and a musky pink pepper. There’s hints of citrus in the opening but the ultimately get drowned out by the dry down. I think if you like dusty florals with a patchouli touch, this could work for you but it didn’t work for me

Not for me. There is something sharp and unpleasant about this to my nose-- I think it's the citrus & rose combo. I'm getting a really green, almost sour rose mixed with dusty, powdery woody notes. It feels really vintage to me, like a conventional floral fragrance that would've been popular decades ago, and sorta headache-inducing. Femme-leaning IMO.

To me this is a bit uninspiring. Just a boring generic citrus, but I do like subtle powdery (violet, I guess?) undertones. This one is just ok.

Damn. Another fougère adjacent body wash scent. Incredibly soapy, down to the powdery residue feeling. Very strong in the beginning but mostly just feels like those fragrant salt bags you get from expensive boutique home decor places. Dries off like a nondescript bathroom soap. Powdery, citrusy, clean. Bummer.

This reads more masculine for me. Two notes, vetiver and patchouli, usually don’t work for me, and this is not an exception. This is not a bad perfume; I just like very feminine perfume.

Working my way through the discovery set and this is the first one i've truly disliked. Very strong, linear, screechy citrus. It's giving dishwasher. Hard pass from me.

This is straight up citrus plain and simple. The profile is really not worth the price point.

It reads very much linear cleaning product. Lots of irish spring and ahdelydes.

Harvest Season is an intriguing spicy, citric, & herbal aromatic scent. Smelling it blindly, I was reminded partly of culinary herbs, like sage, rosemary, and thyme. However, if listed notes are to be believed, this fragrance is an odd complexity involving grapefruit and pink pepper, underlain with (fractionated?) vetiver and patchouli, ...all of which is lightly florally sweetened. Unlike some other d'Annam fragrances, the rice note in this one is so light as to be barely perceptable, ...which begs the question: Is rice meant to be the crop referenced in the name? Regardless of the vague theme, if one seeks a light woody aromatic scent, with odd and difficult-to-place nuances, then this Harvest Season might well make for an exceptional choice.

It is a dry citrus, ginger/peppery, scent. The straw description by the creator makes it have a dry dusty feel but doesn't necessarily smell of straw. It is a little high strung and combative with the pepper notes. It moves back and forth between unisex and a tiny bit masculine. As a female, I would wear this to an apple orchard, pumpkin patch, hay ride, raking leaves. Sunny dry outdoor fall activities wearing a flannel.

The opening is very strong hay and wood shavings which makes it interesting but it immediately dulls down into an uninspiring citrus. By far my least favourite from the Vietnam series.

Harvest Season, by d'Annam, smells like vetiver, pink pepper, grapefruit and patchouli. I can't smell a rice or hay note. The scent is heavy, spicy and masculine.

Generic, masculine-leaning, pleasant. Nothing to write home about, but I wouldn't mind if a guy at the office smelled like it.

Wow, This is an amazing product. I think it is the best product. This is a new version for me. I like & love it.

This scent is so interesting to me because I really only get citrus. A sharp lemon/grapefruit.
