Mango Sticky Rice

Looking at some of the other reviews, I guess I'm very lucky, because I can definitely smell mango and sticky rice! It's beautiful and fruity and creamy and everything I wanted when I'd heard about it, without being cloying and overly sweet. Then again, I'm not really a gourmand person and generally prefer florals (I've said this so many times to various friends that it might as well be a motto!) so I suppose if people consider this a floral disguised as a gourmand, it's not so surprising that I like it! Thank you, body chemistry, because in the opening I get pleasant toasty rice, and lovely creamy mango in the drydown. It's my first full bottle from d'Annam, and I'm quite pleased with it. The little egg shaped bottles are so cute! The only disappointment is that while the bottle itself is glass, the cap is plastic and both looks and feels cheap. That's a real shame, given how much it costs.

This is an odd one. There is an initial hit of sweet, ripe mango hidden behind a milky cloud of musk. The mango note disappears within an hour and leaves a sweet synthetic musk which to me has this unknown scent that I have been trying to track down my whole life. It is a strong “pheromone” smell - clean and sweet but dirty and powdery at the same time. That starchy musk note is what attracts me to this perfume the most. I think this fragrance works well on a spring day and has solid projection, with middle and base notes lasting 3-6 hours before becoming a close skin scent. It’s been a controversial one. A friend of mine doesn’t find it interesting, another loves it, neither have that musky pheromone experience besides me though. I’d advise against blind buying, but this is still in my top 3 spring/summer rotation for 2026/27 and I’d recommend trying it on if you ever get the opportunity.

If you're looking for a traditional gourmand, this is not going to be your fragrance but it's still an absolutely beautiful perfume. The top is almost photo realistic ripe mango, maybe even a mango that is just teetering on the verge of being overly ripe. Once it settles though it turns into beautiful warm, toasted rice with a hint of subtle creaminess. So bright and inviting, it's truly one of my favorites. I got a decant and had to purchase a full bottle immediately. However if you're looking for a super sweet, sugary, yummy type of fragrance this may not be what you want. I do find the name to be a little misleading. But I still highly recommend a sample if you love a warm toasty note with the perfect hint of sweetness.

Wow wow! I wasn’t expecting to like Mango Sticky Rice this much, especially since I’m usually picky with gourmands. This one feels different though. The opening is really fresh, like a juicy, slightly green mango rather than a sugary dessert. It’s bright and a bit tangy, not heavy at all. As it settles, it shifts into something softer and more skin-like. On me, the dry down is this really nice, clean musk with just a hint of that creamy rice vibe in the background. It never turns overly sweet or sticky, which I appreciate. It’s more of a subtle, comforting scent than a literal dessert, and I keep catching little wafts of it throughout the day.

For a while, I’ve been searching for a perfume that smells like this. Not like flowery mango, no. Something sweet, mango, and this one is absolutely it. I wanted something that reminded me of the mango and condensed milk shaved ice I had on vacation, and this absolutely nailed it. Personally, I smell the rice more, then sweet mango comes in and blends deliciously with the rice fragrance. If you’ve ever had actual mango sticky rice, or mango sago, this smells exactly like that. I do want to say though, it is a bit on the expensive side, especially with the full bottle being not that big.

Me, my husband, and sister sampled this today and we're all quite inlove! The opening is sooo yummy and true to mango sticky rice scent ♡ very creammy coconut rice that i cant get enough of. Once the scent settles down i cant detect the mango anymore sadly, i believe it blends in with the other non gourmand notes. The coconut rice also dissapates and becomes very faint later on and youre left with a wearable and safe non gourmand fragrance. I wish it projects and lasts longer more. I wish it committed to full gourmand. But for now we will enjoy our sample till it lasts.

Not sure how people are saying this isn’t mango sticky rice, sure we all have different noses but to me this was very realistic! I loved the toasted rice opening and the coconut milk peaking in as it dried down. It does dry to a lactonic musk but maintains some fruitiness. I smelled the mango on my clothes more than my skin after a while. It doesn’t have nuclear projection but I could smell it on my wrist without putting my nose right up to it. This scent brought me a lot of joy, planning on buying a full bottle!

Wait I love this!! I don't know what I expected but I love it. The mango isn't too sweet, it's fresh and refreshing and blends with the comforting savory rice smell and there's sweetness from the coconut. The mango isn’t like syrupy but rather a fresh mango with greenness. It lasts awhile too. I need a bottle of this!! 9/10

The mango note smells consistently mouthwatering from start to finish, and the rice comes through clearly too — it's a very well-balanced fragrance overall. Having lived in Thailand for six months teaching English, I can say it's a pretty accurate evocation of the dish. Comforting, long-lasting, and delicious.

Its beautifull juicy mango and than rice. But it reminds me love o matic in the drydown. Like clean laundry scent but minus the bubblegum.

The scent is very pleasant. It lasts quite well, and has a rich, indulgent quality. It smells like juicy ripe mango.

d'annam does it again. I'm super impressed, especially the drydown is sooo good

Blind bought this! Don't be fooled. This is NOT a gourmand. If anything,I only detect delicate FLORALS and a bright citrus smell (maybe some ripe mango it's supposed to be?) Not much rice at all, and ZERO sweetness. This should have never been labeled mango sticky rice and I feel robbed. I love Strawberry Mochi (although it's more bean paste mochi), and Mooncake from this brand. With that said, both Strawberry Mochi and Mooncake are SWEETER than this supposed gourmand. Look somewhere else for a photorealistic mango sticky rice scent, please!! Try a sample of this if your curious. With all that said, I'm not too picky with fragrance, so I liked it!! Not worth the $165 price tag though... but it's a beautiful fresh, citrus (ripe mango), floral scent! Maybe on the dry down I detect a small hint of rice... It's not a blind buy fail for me, but just not what I or anyone else would expect. Longevity so far is moderate (3-5 hrs), and projection is intimate. SAMPLE FIRST. NOT A GOURMAND!!

I just picked this fragrance up yesterday. I was SUPER excited to try it. Everything from D’annam is super unique and hyper-realistic. When I first smelled the fragrance, it had a super weird “vape juice” opening. It gave me a slight headache. After 20-30 mins, that goes away and fades to a sweet/starchy coconut milk scent. It becomes quite enjoyable at this stage. This stage also lasts FOREVER. I usually spray my new fragrances before I go to bed and if I wake up and it’s still there, I will consider it to be long lasting. Surprisingly, after I tested this with Mango Sticky Rice, the sweet/starchy rice & coconut scent was still there! I definitely have mixed feelings over this fragrance. I wish the mango was more prominent and it feels like that just reformulated their super popular “white rice” and added some sweetness to it. Overall great fragrance, just don’t expect it to be a mango bomb like other popular fragrances.

I had seen a couple of reviews noting that this does have an unlisted floral note and upon testing the sample that I have just received in the mail, I swear that there is an osmanthus note in this. This is a sweet, ripened mango with this subtle, floral, airy quality and a slight savoriness to it. There is maybe a hint of coconut milk but it’s not heavy. This is pleasant but I can’t say it’s something I would personally wear. I do really love the concept of D’Annam but time and time again, I am finding that their scent profiles are not something geared specifically towards my tastes. I do however very much appreciate how well-executed these fragrances come to be each time.

A wearable version of my favourite dessert. As someone from South East Asia, I think this perfume in general tugs at my heartstrings for being nostalgic and sentimental so I will probably be biased. Starts off with a ripe (dry, not cloyingly sweet) mango and the rice and coconut cream come through after a while, giving it a starchy, creamy profile after smelling the mango. On my skin, it becomes floral-powdery after about 2 hours though. I do wish the mango and rice notes lasted longer. Not a loud fragrance, more skin-like. If you're ok with floral-fruity scents, this will suit you but for gourmand-lovers, you're better off looking elsewhere.

It’s hard to compare this to Journal’s mango sticky rice, arguably the one I gravitate to more. Whereas Journal’s has a distinct toasted sesame note and a gorgeously dry sandalwood dry down, this one is almost pornographic and perfumey. You get mango skins and a slightly juicy pulp in a nod to photo realism, but it’s so fleeting that the “perfume” melange elements take over within a few minutes. Upon the dry down, you wouldn’t even know that this was a mango or rice centered gourmand; she’s fully converted into a perfume perfume. Think of the sexiest sunscreen you’d wear and it falls more in that territory.

This one is so special. It smells like the way you never expect. But I love it! Although, it doesn’t last as mango nor sticky rice. Looking at the main accords I had to google what terpenic accord was. Google didn’t really clarify (or I’m not intelligent enough 😁) but one of the descriptions was geraniol. And I literally after 1-1.5 hours smell something very familiar but vintage or old school. Need to test it one more time UPD: after 10-20 min I finally realised that after it set down it smelled like a mosquito repellent, but I like it so much, it relaxed my mind and I wanted to sniff it more and more

Delicious. I like this fragrance a lot. It opens with a bright, photorealistic mango. As it dries down, I get those creamy coconut milk and rice notes. It smells very "edible" and makes me crave the real dessert. This fragrance is definitely mango-forward, but I also pick up the clean, milky coconut and rice. It's a refreshing gourmand that's well suited for spring and summer. I'm quite impressed with the performance. I get around six hours of wear with good projection. The more I wear it, the more I like it. I would recommend this fragrance if you enjoy mango scents or fruit-forward gourmands. 🥭🥥🍚
