Pho Breakfast

its what's pho breakfast this is so good - most 1:1 pho fragrance I've tried so far. all the right notes are there, opens with the bowl -aquatic and spicy then you get the bean sprout cilantro lime plate wonderfulness knowingly disliking cilantro, then coming to the cilantro scent to rate it poorly cause it smells like cilantro is kind of genuinely ridiculous behavior, and I'm very pro"there's no bad perfume review scent is abstract and subjective" but lets be real guys jeez lmao and I REALLY do NOT get any sort of "horrible amber musk wood etc" base at all and my skin pulls those to the top of things to ruin them very often so Im going to be honest - I think there are a lot of contrarian reviews for this that are neg in some way to just be different tbh! back to scent, this doesn't evoke pho it straight up smells like it this is a good scent that achieves what it sets out to do! its well executed and gimmicky and fun! I do not understand the negativity. If you love pho and have common sense this is blind buy friendly

Finally a herbaceous, citrusy warm weather scent that seems to last on my skin! If you're worried about this scent being too savory, don't, this is super herbal and aromatic. My nose skips right past the star anise (a good thing for me), and straight to lots of cilantro, cardamom and basil with a lovely strong ginger note and a pop of citrus. I've worn my sample three days in a row and a full bottle is now at the top of my wishlist. As someone who lives in a very warm climate, Pho Breakfast is probably going to turn into a summer staple for me. In my collection, Pho Breakfast would sit between Mandarin Basilic, which I love for its freshness but wish it had more heft to actually last, and Escentric 04, which lasts forever but turns woody after the big punchy green and grapefruit opening and can feel heavy in hot weather.

This is a gorgeous ginger and herb-centered fragrance, done in the colognia structural format. Ginger, basil and cardamom immediately upon the spray and it veers citrus-like without being sporty. I would never consider this a gourmand in the classic sense. The herbaceous nature of it keeps it so interesting; it’s been a while since a fragrance surprised me in a happy way. It becomes sweeter with the patchouli in the dry down but definitely a more assertive herb-forward scent. This might be the strongest of the line (sniffed the discovery set) and the packaging is unreal— very lux. Bravo to all facets of this.

This opens up so realistic smelling of coriander, basil, lime and ginger. Its like you are cutting up herbs to top off your pho. But the savory part of pho simply isnt there. I wish it was a bit more "savory" smelling. Eventho its just herbal and fresh its a really nice soothing scent to me. Sadly after about an hour or so it turns into a pretty generic freshie. Which i found to be really dissapointing. I wished the opening notes stayed for a longer time. Only for that reason i will never buy a full bottle, because i simply cant justify a €160 scent if i gotta reapply it a couple of time a day.

oh this is just gorgeous. I get green, spicy, orange. the orange honestly dominates pretty heavily, but it plays so nicely with the cilantro and basil it becomes this amazing new unique scent. my only problem is it gets weak pretty quickly. I think it lasts a while, but definitely becomes less green and settles at a muted, woody orange. but it's still LOVELY and I would love to smell like a woody orange for a long time ! I could see this being signature scent material honestly edit: the longer it sits, it smells like a hot guy. idk how else to put it. this is def gonna become a regular rotation

Absolutely love this! In all honesty, I've never had Pho, though it sounds like a dish right up my alley. Herbaceous, not in a medicinal herbalist kind of way, but more like "you put the aromatics and the spices on the kitchen counter after a grocery run" type of way. Strong cilantro, basil and lemongrass notes. The lemongrass dissipated after a while but the spicy/herbal scent still remains. I totally got the patchouli after an hour or so. To me, this is a total andrognynous scent leaning veeeery slightly on the masculine side. I can see a myself wearing this when I want to smell fresh.

A weird but enjoyable interpretation of pho that feels fun and fresh, yet warm and familiar. It definitely nails the smell of pho but somehow doesn’t feel too “foody”. It opens with sweetly green basil and a sparkling ginger paired with some warmly dusty star anise. It’s green, slightly sweet, and fresh. The heart becomes even greener with a brightly aromatic cilantro with tart citrus. The dry down is more woody forward but with remnants of that warm and sweet spice, fresh and aromatic greens, and enveloping coziness.

Insane photorealistic pho topping platter fragrance. Fresh cut herbs, cool bean sprouts, lime wedge not yet squeezed. This is the fragrance in my collection that I fear smelling like food the most in... but it smells amazing and fresh. Fabulous summer fragrance. Wouldn't shell out for a full of this but I adore my sample.

Pho usually is served with greens, and this smells like those greens. It smells so good. I love it so much. Unfortunately, the good smell didn’t work on my skin. Somehow a noisy note gets amplified and the wonderful greens I smell on the blotter go away.

Lime Cilantro & Mandarin. The name kinda scared me at first but it’s actually very wearable and fresh.

Sampling Pho Breakfast by d’Annam, inspired by beef pho, and a fittingly spicy, savory blend of cilantro, ginger, cardamom, mandarin, and cedar, so a sort of woody fresh backdrop places against the primarily spicy, green, herbal side that dominates the scent. I think it’s well done and definitely conjures a meal, not a meal I’ve had, personally, but still something quite delectable and inviting, my one criticism being that it does not work for me personally as well as a more straightforward peppery woody blend, as I do enjoy pepper in fragrance, but this ensemble is really a lot, quite rich but not as superb on me while still being a very nice fragrance. It’s the only fragrance from the line so far that I wouldn’t wear in abundance. Like the rest of the line, Pho Breakfast is EDP concentration and priced at $120 for 50ml, sold mainly through the house website but also retailers like Luckyscent and Arielle Shoshana. It performs very well, and the value is high, and I’d certainly recommend trying it out as part of the Chapter 1 Discovery Set. 7 out of 10

First hit is strong and herbal. Then shifts quickly into fresh, but it lingers into a woody spicy freshness. I don't think of pho, and the best pho I've had is more floral anyway due to their spices, but it reminds me of gin and tonics. Tropical spicy with a twist of lime. Even though I've never been, the Long Bar at Singapore Raffles hotel where the Singapore Sling was invented - tropical, high ceilings, humidity, relaxed drinking while wearing linen. If not SE Asia, then Caribbean tropic, like Jamaica but you didn't want rum. Men's aftershave perhaps, so this is more masculine that what I'm after. My dad would have loved it.

I really like this one (maybe not for reasons other people might like) , this smells very much like cilantro and basil w ginger in the background. This smells like my mom cutting up these greens on a cutting board and she has them set aside while she's getting caldo ready (im latine). I really like the herbal scents on this. On my partner, it pulls as a generic green fragrance, but on my skin it smells like I chopped up greens with my mom. Performance was alright, I purchased in discovery box. If I still want to smell ir after I finish it, I may purchase a bigger size.

The opening of this fragrance was an absolutely wonderful blast of basil, cilantro, and ginger. It smells so fresh and herby and green, I could not stop smelling my wrist it is so unique and enticing. As it dries down it it lands on that cedarwood note and mostly stays there, which is much more basic and honestly a little disappointing compared to the opening. I found myself just wanting to reapply more so I could smell that initial scent again. Overall I do really enjoy this fragrance, I just wish the dry down was as good as the opening.

This didn’t sound very good at all and I wasn’t looking forward to trying it but a trusted store recommended it so I got a sample with my order because I couldn’t think of anything else to try. At first it smells exactly like the Roger’s and Gallet Gingembre Rouge. Unisex but leans a little masculine. The longer it sits the more masculine it becomes. Wish it stayed how it started. But honestly the longer I own it the less I like it.

Pho Breakfast opens with a bright, zingy blast of herbaceous cilantro and juicy citrus. It truly does smell like the garnishes served up next to a steaming bowl of pho. One of the most delightful openings I've smelled in a while! The dry-down is a softer, muted orange with a woody backbone. There is a gentle whisper of herbs lingering in the background. Overall, Pho Breakfast is a fun experience that is definitely worth sampling.

Bright, fresh, green, and spicy, but the mandarin makes it smell less like pho than a lime note would, though I understand that lime is a tricky and polarizing scent. Sits super close to the skin, and doesn't last very long, but I put it on to match my udon soup, and that was both a very lovely scent experience that made me happy, and the most deranged I have been with perfume, so there is something to be said there.

This is a very zesty and bright herbal fragrance. The most prominent note to me upon first spraying were the ginger, cilantro and mandarin. After a few hours the patchouli and cedar come through and makes this lean more masculine in my opinion. I think this would be a great spring and summer scent for when you need to feel energized throughout the day. Very unique and creative.

Doesn’t smell like actual soup but it maybe smells like the prep? Like cutting a bunch of herbs, it’s savoury and fresh. I would say it leans slightly masculine but do whatever you want. The herbs fade out to just a clean nice laundry sort of scent. It’s savoury pho laundry. Very fresh and calming. Too bad it doesn’t last at all for me, a couple hours maybe.

so fresh and green and COLD, i'm not used to savoury scents but i do wish it was a little spicier or meatier! missing some of the glutamate-smells i'd associate with pho which i think would kick up its warmth - i've only ever had warm pho! maybe a cultural gap. so lovely divorced from its title though, just too simple later on i feel

i was very excited for this one. i get a lot of the mandarin at first which was a little disappointing as i was promised a savoury perfume. however once the mandarin fades some, it gets more savoury, closer to an actual bowl of pho. i think this could be a new favourite, i am in love. i feel like i can smell the salt.

Absolutely love the concept of this one. It's not meant to be a perfume that smells like pho, its meant to smell like all of the classic pho toppings if they had a little party with no soup involved. And that it does. There's definitely orange, cilantro, warm spices. How delicious and inventive.

Very wearable and fresh which was not expected. There’s absolutely nothing savory in here. This is a super well done citrus/green/spicy combo with a musky dry down. Perhaps this isn’t unique but it smells really rounded and nice. I really like it, can’t wait to test it out more...

I was expecting this to be a lot more of a warm, spicy, vegetal broth scent. Wrong. It is still such an interesting scent, but far more citrus forward. Ginger and grapefruit notes are most prominent for me. The patchouli and cedarwood add some slight warmth.

blooming opening of pho toppings, the cilantro blushes through wonderfully. A bit of lime and the other general herbs involved. Such a cool scent!!! It does die out into just a very basic masculine cologne scent after an hour or so, which is disappointing.

Very aromatic, herbal, and fresh. It reminds me of when I was little and would play with dad’s Edge shaving cream. I wish they sold a smaller bottle of this because even though I like it, I’m not sure that I would make good use of an entire 50ml bottle.

incredibly realistic cilantro note! the coriander adds a bit of funk but it is well-balanced with the cedar base. overall fun and more wearable than the name suggests. nothing crazy in terms of sillage + doesn't last long.

Coriander, Coriander then a clean herby soup smell. The soap you use to wash cloths There is a common interesting capsicum smell through out this Vietnamese flankers. It is short lasting a unisex.

Sampled this and weirdly enough I like it. On the skin it reminds me when you wash your hands after spending the day in the kitchen cutting up herds and spices to make sofrito or a salsa.

So fresh! Clean, bright spice and herb. The ginger came through next and as a whole it was a nice refreshing smell. Did not last long though

Unfortunately very very soapy. I am not a person who thinks cilantro tastes like soap but this really isn't much beyond a vague "green" soapy smell. I love Pho and its aromatics. The garnish plate is something special. Earthy sprouts, brightness from basil, cilantro, mint and lime all maintaining their distinct mouthwatering aromas. This is not that at all. I really had hoped for a savory fragrance, something realistic, something warm and spicy. This is spicy like aftershave. Its muddled and doesn't evoke anything about this beloved dish. It feels like a finance bro on the train wearing an obnoxious cologne that wont stop staring at you. I'm sad about it.

I’m really sorry to say this, but for a moment I truly thought I was smelling that Jo Malone LBM; the one I know almost too well, since it’s also my favourite shampoo. So it’s impossible not to compare them; the resemblance is quite strong. This one has a softer progression, with more basil and a brighter, citrusy freshness. It’s not unsuccessful by any means, but it isn’t particularly unique either. Tag(s): basil, mandarin, aromatic

Unfortunately the review rumors are true, I tested this on myself today and for the first hour it smells like really yummy fresh cilantro dipped in pho, and then when it dries it smells more like a generic masculine scent with barely a memory of the first spray. Wish the original whiff could stay longer. The highlight was that it did make me crave pho which I proceeded to delightfully consummate.

I loved the opening and middle of Pho Breakfast. Very herbal, lovely basil, lime and cilantro. I think I also smelled lemongrass. Zen vibes to it, it doesn't really remind me of food. The base is very unpleasant, unfortunately. It is mostly this nasty modern musk, Kirke-style (although toned down and not as obnoxious).

Not pho at all!!! It smells more like the herbs that vietnamese people use.. LOL... its bright! its fresh! its green! its fresh spicy! It is not a ground breaking smell, more than pho, you imagine the bean sprouts, the basil/mint and the lime you squeeze in the pho.

very fun first half hour of smelling like actual pho, the coriander and the star anise really come through. In the long run it does just give fougère with an edge, and I didn't love wearing it because of that (not a fan of smelling like my father for a whole day)

A very very green opening, almost too strong for my liking. It settles into an aromatic masculine leaning scent. Overall green fresh, and has a vague cologne feel to it. It's alright. Not too interesting imo, but also not simply pleasing.

Very bright, fresh aromatic. I get a lot of orange peel, herbs. It comes across like the old meaning of men’s Cologne but with a twist. While not my preferred profile, I do think it’s an interesting perfume.

This is way more herbs and citrus than it is spices. So basically the toppings part of pho instead of the rich anise broth. Very interesting as a scent, but not something I would ever want to wear.

The base is basil, but upon closer sniffing, there’s a strong chemical smell that fills the nose.

I love pho, but I do not love this. It smells immediately of bathroom cleaning products, sanitary wet wipes, and orange car freshener on my skin. After the sharp opening, it mellows out into what smells a bit gourmand, maybe like sweet bread. I like the smell on my shirt a bit more, which is a bit sparkly like Coca-Cola. Overall, not a scent I would wear or want to be associated with..

I adore D'Annum and the entire discovery set, but can't get on board with this. Warning: if you have the cilantro mutation, this definitely has that horrible cilantro smell. I wish I didn't have that bc all of the notes sound so fun, but it's a blast of cilantro to me. I can't smell anything else. Ah well.

Not exactly my cup of tea. Smells like the mash of herbs that do remind me of pho, except the savoury aspects have been smoothened out with an orange note to make it less intimidating but it ends up just smelling like a cleaning product. Probably better on a guy.

I went into this with completely different expectations as I didn’t look at the notes. Thus, I thought it was going to smell more like pho broth. It instead smells like the toppings, especially the basil and cilantro.

This appears in a lot of puff pieces leading up to launch, with the brand helpfully providing a caveat "not a transliteration". I'm no aphởcionado, but this is not even worth calling artistic rendition: it's a riff on the classic Angel/A*men structure; but whereas the Muglers succeeded by having a powerful, bright and almost sticky sweet top notes, "Pho Breakfast" only got a wane citrus herb combination to counterbalance the barrel-chested masculine patchouli at the base. The result is something that has more affinity to feet and armpits rather than a national dish. Sincerely, a disgruntled Viet

nearing the end of the discovery set. should preface by saying that i love pho, and this, while not a 1:1 identical scent, comes weirdly close enough. this perfume proves that foods i enjoy do not always deserve a perfume incarnate. the same accents that gave this perfume its savoury note- perhaps that cilantro/patchouli blend?- also kinda made me gag in my mouth a little. maybe true gourmand lovers would like this. certainly opinions on this one seem strongly divided. i will be scrubbing it OFF
