Vietnamese Coffee

This. This is the best coffee perfume I‘ve tried yet. Was very excited to try the discovery kit especially because of this one. I’m very sensitive to extremely gourmand fragrances, and Vietnamese coffee has a very photorealistic coffee note while being not overly sweet. The first spray is straight up strong, roasted coffee — imagine opening a bag of roasted coffee beans. The scent then turns more chocolatey and on the dry-down flows into a milky-sweet condensed milk and brown sugar, which is smoothed out by cedarwood and amber. In comparison, the fragrance performs less sweeter than most gourmand scents, making it absolutely not headache-inducing. You need 2-3 sprays maximum to have a sillage acceptable in public places (regarding a 50ml bottle goes for $120). This is a perfect gourmand fragrance without the cloying smell. Simply beautiful. Edit: I don’t know if it’s my tester bottle or my senses, but I now slightly smell that perfumey/plasticky note in the opening, which I honestly don’t like. The coffee too has now become more artificial with weird plasticky undertone to it. It still smells like strong, roasted coffee, just this powdery perfume smell won’t leave my nose.

If this perfume was a guy, I would've made love with him on a rainy Tuesday while "Cigarettes after sex" is playing on the background and after he would make us cacao chai tea. Incredibly pleasant, even nostalgic. Like re-meeting a stranger you saw years ago by whom you get captivated. The opening is a smooth and silky coffee sweetened with condensed milk note that almost fronts as a caramel milk, but not nauseatingly. Maybe just me but each note presents itself from the initial spray, I get the amber and tonka bean immediately, so I can say it is crafted so beautifully that each note co-exists while none of them surpasses each other. Though, I should add that the coffee note evaporates quite quickly so this perfume would be a big no for you if you like your coffee black, dark and roasted like your soul. (For that I would recommend you Coffee addict by Theodoros Kalotinis) This one is a smoother blend of an iced latte with condensed milk. My only critic for this perfume is the aforementioned quick disappearing of the coffee note. No need to be THAT mysterious mister, let me enjoy you a bit longer, but oh well. Same time next week?

Came accross this at a perfume shop and throughout the rest of the day could not stop smelling myself. From what I can see this is not a blind buy, as it reacts differently to people's skin, but if you have the chance to try it please do. I kid you not I have not stopped thinking about this perfume since I put it on. It smells like one of those coffees that make you feel like a connoisseur, rich, warm, delicious. True to its name, there is a faint sweetness rounding out the edges of the coffee smell: condensed milk. But it is not a spoonfull shoved into your mouth. The same way condensed milk leaves a sweet film around your mouth, and the coffee washes it down perfectly, the sweet milk scent simply removes the bitterness that coffee often has, without making it actually sweet in my opinion. I have to be honest, on my skin I wouldn't even consider this a sweet gourmand, the coffee note is strong during its whole dry down process, and every other note feels more like it dances around you, giving you a slightly new and addictive perspective on the coffee itself. LOVE IT <3

This house has really impressed me. They know how to tell a story. This a coffee fragrance, pure and pretty simple. First and foremost, I am not a fan of coffee fragrances. I have never liked thick, syrupy sweet gourmand coffee fragrances and thankfully that is not what this is. This smells like a freshly brewed cup of coffee. Lightly sweetened, a touch lactonic and creamy. The coffee is made a bit richer with a not-too-sweet dark chocolate. It's a long lasting fragrance and the coffee is there for the whole ride, though it does get a bit more woody and powdery as it dries down. It's long lasting but it's not beastmode. Projection is about arms length and the sillage is nice. Definitely a fall and winter fragrance and it's perfectly unisex. This fragrance is well thought out and delivered. There are others in the line I enjoy more than this (again, I'm not a fan of coffee) but for coffee fans, who are looking for a realistic coffee smell, this is one I can easily recommend. *This fragrance was sent to me for review but the opinion is mine and mine alone

I am looking for a pour-over coffee fragrance, and although this is not it, it is a beautiful fragrance in its own right. It rejects a linear dry-down and instead dances around its notes for hours of wear. It smells like a coffee date. The first 15-20 minutes you are at the counter ordering. All you smell are the dark roast beans and just a moment of the syrups and mocha on the counter. During the next stage, the coffee and milk are in the background as you get acquainted with the smell of lilies, a fresh reprieve from the overwhelming smell of coffee. As the smell of the lily leaves, you are left with the smell of dark roast coffee beans, condensed milk (not too sweet but definitely lactonic), and the warmth of amber and tonka that envelop you like a comfortable throw. It’s a gourmand, but not an overly sweet one, nor a one-note gourmand that gets cloying. Personally, this fragrance is not for me; however, it is far too magnificent to disregard. Give it a try if you like coffee, gourmands, or complex fragrances.

I love a coffee perfume that actually smells like coffee <3 At first spray, this smells like coffee with white florals but as it dries the coffee remains and the milk comes through strong. Overall, very lactonic, powdery and caffeinated. After about 60 - 90 minutes, the coffee fades, the milk remains and the dark chocolate note emerges—bitter and cocoa-y to balance the sweetness of the condensed milk. The lily of the valley appears about halfway through the wear and is rather subtle. After about 4 - 5 hours, you're left with a woody and sweet scent from the tonka, amber and cedar notes that is refreshing and intimate. Vietnamese Coffee is a wonderful coffee scent (not too photorealistic as it doesn't necessarily smell similar to Vietnamese coffee to me) that is like a perfect mix between Coffee Addict by Theodoros Kalotinis and Milk (expressive) by Commodity. You may not like it if you don't like lactonic fragrances, but this is a 10/10 for me.

This isnt your average coffee note perfume or some bitter-sweetened husk of arabica syrup. No. On my soul, this is the truest iteration of coffee to date. Now I know none bout Vietnamese coffee, but more than your standard white, this has like, the vibe of condensed milk against hot metal, slow-brewing over scorched grounds. Hear the drip. Feel the condensed steam pressing against foggy cafe windows. Taste the roasted heart of it, not bitter, but brewed. Robust. It's rich, lactonic, warm. Not sure how accurate this is to a real thing, but damn does it more than suffice as a photorealistic latte scent. Not a Starbucks latte but your everyday grueller's ritual, a stop by your local breakfast which uses oily coffee beans ground by hand. The silken clink of metal. Milk thick enough to slow time. Ooh. Not the syrupy coffee-candy love nor bitter-filter hard love some perfumes serve you but a real love for life, filtered through caffeine.

Sampling d’Annam Vietnamese Coffee, a very realistic coffee scent that is mainly centered around a dark, dry, roasted coffee blend, with additional notes of milk, chocolate tonka, amber, and cedar. It’s a very sober and authentic yet robust encapsulation of dry roasted coffee, somewhere between the smell of ground coffee and a fresh cup, very nicely done, and not too sweet for those that generally find coffee-rich fragrances to be too sweet. In that respect, it’s a nice option that not only considerably diversifies the house’s catalogue but also is a great coffee option for lovers of coffee fragrances. I quite love this and it’s one of my favorites of the line. Like the rest of the line, Vietnamese Coffee is EDP concentration and priced at $120 for 50ml, sold via the house site and some US boutiques (Ministry of Scent, Luckyscent, Arielle Shoshana), and performs very well, perhaps second best to Through The Forest. 8 out of 10

Photo realistic coffee? Yes Photo realistic vietnamese coffee? No. It's got the condensed milk but overly bitter none of the caramel mentioned. Real Vietnamese coffee has more of a butterscotch element which this lacks. Vietnamese coffee is coffee anyone can enjoy including non coffee lovers. Starbucks? Not derogatory as Vietnam has more Starbucks than gas stations 😜 I'm finding this house to be white-washed and that makes sense as its discovering vietnam... it would be too esoteric to create things only Vietnamese people could understand. Even the pivot straight into japanese culture with kanji on the bottle while the viet bottles have no originality and the name itself its typical of south vietnam... catering to foreigners... politics aside though very mass appealing (smoothly blended) scents that most people can like, a good dip into niche and this should be the focus for most people.

It's been a journey, seeking out the perfect coffee perfume and let me tell you, it's been a trip. From popular choice like Black Opium by YSL to Montale's Intense Café, I've sniffed ‘em all searching for that aromatic coffee note that spark joy for me. But Vietnamese Coffee EDP now takes the crown. This fragrance brilliantly captures the essence of Vietnamese Coffee. The top note is bold, pure roasted Robusta beans, it's unapologetically coffee in your face. But it's the heart notes of dark chocolate and condensed milk that really set this one apart, inviting a smooth, creamy sweetness that harmonizes perfectly with the bitterness, just like the traditional Vietnamese coffee I love. It lasts maybe ~6 hours for me, projection I'm not sure, but over the duration of wearing the scent, it comes and goes and is quite interesting in that sense. This is now my ALL-TIME-FAVORITE coffee scent!

For when you crave lightness but still want comfort. This lovely scent reminds me of a Charles Dickens quote: "It was the kind of March day when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold, when it is summer in the light and winter in the shade" The buoyant coffee sings leggierro notes of comfort overall, the kind of cozy I still crave in my scents for a chilly March, -Yet little, fragrant Lily of the Valley buds are pushing though with signs of spring, and warmer days. This cozy/fresh seems impossible to marry and yet here it is, so well done. I've been searching for a late winter early spring scent and this is just perfect. Not too heavy, not too bright. AND it's the realistic coffee fragrance I have been searching for for years. Two birds one stone! The light and the dark, yin and yang, two truths exist at once. Highly recommended.

A bitter and dark roast take on a coffee scent profile. It’s true to Vietnamese coffee as it’s a coffee that’s typically very strong, bitter, and milky. This opens with a darkly rich and robustly bitter roasted coffee bean smell that quickly ventures into chocolate territory as it develops. The dark chocolate note here captures the true bitterness dark chocolate tends to have, with only hints of sweetness. The condensed milk note here is strong but never ventures too sweet. It’s creamy, lactonic, sweet, but has a sheerness to it as it’s light and airy. The lily of the valley here reads like a clean floral touch and really rounds everything out and keeps it from being too foody or gourmand. The dry down is warmly woody, softly musky, and still authentically dark roast cofffee. Such a beautifully refined take on a coffee scent!

Just a breathtaking, yummy blend of dark and bitter coffee grounds, cocoa powder and browning, nearly burnt, white sugar. Feels like a drink made quickly (maybe too quickly) during rush hour. Grounds settled at the bottom of the cup, gritty crystals of undissolved sugar and milky sweetness. Sometimes when I get my iced coffees the first few sips are a strange blend of heat and ice cold. The espresso not having fully cooled and thin icy layers persisting despite that. Vietnamese Coffee has that same interesting effect on me. Hot and cold, sweet and bitter, rushed and made with care. Strikingly photorealistic to top it all off. My new favorite coffee fragrance and that is 2 for 2 with my introduction to D'Annam. Absolutely thrilled with this house so far.

I think I have found my favorite coffee scent ever. Smelling this instore, I wasn't expecting much, as I have heard some mixed reviews on it. Spraying it on, and smelling the opening, I knew. I knew this was the one. Vietnamese coffee isn't soft, sweet and rounded like most coffee scents. This one is rather sharp, has a kick to it, which I really enjoy. When the scent dries down, the condensed milk and slight coffee accord become prominent and sweetens the scent up. Also hinting at caramelized sugar note? Overall, I highly enjoyed this fragrance, and I think it is great for the colder months. Lasts well with around 6-8 hours. Projection is great from my testing. The price (in my eyes) is very fair for the quality you are receiving. 8.8/10

I never thought I'd want to smell like coffee, even though I drink it constantly. I always imagined that nauseating stale smell when you get on and off an airplane. Well, my sample just became a full bottle of Vietnamese Coffee. It is nothing like I expected a coffee perfume to smell like. I've been wearing tea notes for decades so perhaps it's the realism of this scent that makes it so appealing to me. Mildly spicy and herbal, enveloped by light cream. Now that I don't have to ration every drop for my own personal enjoyment I look forward to wearing it out regularly and see how it performs in the fresh air. This is something special!

This is what I wanted M M Replica Coffee Break to be. Part of my personality is my love of coffee. I worked in a coffee shop while at university. It is part of many of my every day rituals. This immediately transports me to so many memories and experiences in my past. For me, it has a strong coffee opening, but also I get some sweetness right away. I was surprised because the reviews I've read really focus on how strong and bitter they found the opening. The chocolate is also present pretty quickly on my skin. Hours later it lingers as a delicious iced coffee. Really love this on my skin. I cannot wait for the full bottle to arrive.

this is exceptional.... I’ve never had Vietnamese coffee so to my senses, this is reminding me of a steamy cup of chai latte.... Spicy, sweet, and milky. This is incredibly photorealistic, I feel like I have a cup of it in front of me. On the initial spray it is very dark and bitter like black coffee/tea. Once it dries, the condensed milk note quickly comes through and you’re left with the most delicious spicy sweetness that continues to develop over time. I genuinely recommend this to anyone who loves sweet lactonic scents and is looking to explore one with a woody and spicy twist.

Vietnamese coffee is very true to its name. But there’s more: I have never smelt a coffee fragrance more realistic than this. Fragrances like Follow do it pretty well, but nothing will be as photorealistic of a cup of roasted coffee with a splash of milk as much as Vietnamese Coffee is. Through the entire lifespan of the fragrance you get roasted coffee beans, the condensed milk, and a chocolate undertone that reminds this fragrance of a mocha a LOT, which is so pleasant, relaxing, inviting, and cozy. One of my favorite fragrances of all time, that’s for sure.

half a bottle in less than a month... this is an addiction... I have to put the bottle down but I can’t stop smelling it and force everyone around me to smell it on me “hey, smell me. It’s Vietnamese Coffee”. I also started drinking Vietnamese coffee and smelling the actual Vietnamese coffee to compare the actual smell and it’s not that different. It’s like a parasite in my brain. I’ll put the bottle down and try to use another perfume to forget about it, but it will be hard since it’s so sweet and fluffy... and the weather is perfect for it. Sigh...

Sooo comforting and intoxicating to me. It just envelops you in this sensual, quiet, cozy way. Like catching a shy smile from somebody beautiful reading in a coffee shop. Makes me feel so handsome. My skin is really projecting the coffee, tonka bean, and dark chocolate but damn that lily of the valley and the cedar just ground it so beautifully. Sweetens up on the dry down. Still get that coffee but it's less of a bitter coffee and more of a sweet milky, mocha-y coffee. Lasts long and smells delicious. I can't wait to wear this in the faaaaallll.
