Old Library

Ooo this is nice! Love the feelings this envokes. It smells of somewhat somkey leather and peru balsam. It's translates as a softer scent (strong but not in your face harsh). Love it! This is full bottle worthy for sure! One should be into these typen of fragrances though, it's not sweet and a truly unisex fragrance. Leather fans should check this out. Had a dabber bottle so that might inpact my estimation of longevity. The drydown is so beautiful! 9/10.

Super photo realistic old library! I love to wear this while I'm chilling in my chair and reading a nice book. It just brings back childhood memories!

I'm getting a varnish smell... or rather, it resembles the wood, varnish and glue smell of a place where musical instruments are made. The opening feels sealed with a heavily present basil. Even though the spicy-woody and balsamic elements grow from that point on, that varnished, freshly-polished state I mentioned never goes away. When I imagine the name "old library", I expected dustier things, a leather armchair feel, but this is the old library's room under restoration. The armchairs are reupholstered in new leather, and everywhere is shiny painted wood. The scent isn't cozy-sweet, and it's quite woody and what I'd call spicy; deep resinous one - maybe peru balsam? The leather feel sits more at a level I'd describe as lacquered. Tarry even, and very polished, and this part is pleasant. I wish it were a bit dustier or damper, it would reflect the atmosphere better. Tag(s): varnish, woody, balsamic, leather, lacquered, spicy

I don't want to write this off just yet, but I've been wanting to get my hands on a sample for about a million years and when I eventually did, I was underwhelmed. I'll let the sample sit till winter and try her again then. In the meantime, it's ok. I think I was expecting and older feel, a dirtier feel, a more natural feel; something warm, rustic, unnerving, complex. Alas, I get a paper accord that sits close to the skin... Edit: after sitting on this for a while and trying again, it's super lovely, a little more complex than I originally thought, and much more superior than, say, Papier by Diptyque. Lovely, but just not for me personally. I'll probably gift my sample to someone more suited.

Smells like a chaotic antiquarian bookstore. The DARK wooden floarboards creak with every step. Very photorealistic high quality artisan perfume. Cant recommend Arinas Work enough! Definitely worth a try!
