Cuir Tabac

It's like I want to post about this each time I wear it, comparing this to a Mugler flanker is blaspheme to the experienced fragrance connisours .. There's a reason the price is higher and nobody knows about this. All the coin is going into the composition and not marketing/models. Now, I do believe it's better to buy the recharge bottle as it comes with a atomizer and not hand stitched leather wrap around the bottle. To me it's a waste of $60 bucks, but to each their own. The smell....oh wow. Leather and Tobacco. It's a boozy composition too with a undertone of fresh incense. A great nostalgic feel to the whole thing here. I've never smelled anything like it. Now if you are new to being a collector or to the great hobby of Olfactive exploring, I recommend you don't start off with something as complex as this, even though this does smell wonderful. I do recommend starting off with simple designer scents like pure malt so you can get your nose trained to smell notes and actually be able to tell the difference between quality juice. It's amazing :) 9.5/10 overall!

The first time I tested this perfume, I felt launched into an emotional journeyوa dreamy, nostalgic escape... It’s like a living work of art, brimming with authenticity. Perfume enthusiasts know how a multi-dimensional fragrance, with all its complexities, can uplift the soul and make you feel extraordinary. The name of every fragrance from this brand includes ‘Cuir’, and this leather motif is unmistakable—both in the bottle’s design (the most striking element of the packaging) and in the brand’s aesthetic (the founder himself is always clad in leather). To me, it’s also masterfully woven into the scent itself: a refined, luxurious leather note, polished to perfection. That said, I’d ultimately categorize it as a patchouli-dominant fragrance—one that lends depth and a mysterious, oriental aura. It’s earthy, subtly sweetened by tobacco, and beautifully grounded by a calming lavender note that adds an aromatic, almost addictive quality. To me, this is a lost masterpiece. 10/10, no doubts.

How in the world is this not hyped up!?! Tobacco and leather with dry spice. If you like these type of fragrances, you may be passing up the Grail. No doubt this is niche. The quality is amazing! Pure liquid form dabbed on hand, smelling it up close when wet, no alcohol at all! That's a way of testing quality as well as concentration and folks this has a lot of both. Perfect for winter night, cold weather outside! This is a mans man frag through and through. I highly recommend this juice!!!

This fragrance opens with an aromatic note of lavender. The heart is built around tobacco and cigar tones. According to the nose Cecile Zarokian, the background mixes five patchoulis from the five regions of India. After Cuir Mandarine, David Jourquin unveils a second fragrant creation, more for the evening. Built around beautiful materials, as highlighted by its leather-wrapped bottle, the fragrance is described by David Jourquin as "disturbing and insolent" ...Thumbs up!👍🏽 ⭐️

Opens with promise a lovely tobacco note very similar to Cuir Mandarine. As other reviews have mentioned this quickly turns more into a patchouli fragrance than anything else. There's a hint of lavender in there too but as this dries down it doesn't offend me necessarily just disappoints...massively. Cuir mandarine was a bit disappointing and it's far better than this! You'd think they had similar longevity and projection etc being essentially very similar but no....this doesn't last at all and quickly retreats to a soft skin scent. Has the strange slightly smokey leather thing I mentioned from CM. Again Cuir Tabac smells good just doesn't 'pop' for me...disappointing at this price. Another one that warrants a second wear but I suspect it will be the same story second time around.

For $10 for 5 ml sample size, it was worth it; a sweet yet dry tobacco. No leather at all. As it dries down the patch rises. I like it but not full bottle worthy. I prefer Frankincense and Rose Tabac for a true tobacco at a fraction of the cost and a natural perfume, too, by an indie.

101% Zino Davidoff with better longevity. Thus, this doesn't worth its price in no way.

God bless the individual that's willing to spend hundreds of dollars on this fragrance. The problem with Cuir Tabac isn't the scent. The bigger issue is that you're gonna be playing the olfactory version of "Where's Waldo". This is more like a thin scent rather than a skin scent. The tobacco smells like a walk-on instead of the star in this concoction. The rest of the notes are puny and shows no interest in fighting back the tyranny of fleetingness. Definitely not a fragrance built for the playoffs.

Nice fragrance to start, but the patchouli ruins this one for me, as I'm not a huge fan of the note. More specifically I don't like it when its overdone. The opening is very good, a smooth tobacco and suede combination sets a gentlemanly tone that's softened up by a classy vanillic amber. This stage is well-balanced, the vanilla making the scent a little cozy and comfortable, while the tobacco and suede remind us that this is not an informal fragrance to be worn haphazardly or taken for granted. But not too long into its development, the patchouli starts peeking out its head and eventually becomes the dominant note in the composition. The patchouli is of the drier, earthy variety (not animalic or sweaty) and has a good quality about it. My problem is, I just don't like patchouli, and it really takes over here, so in the end, this doesn't work for me. I would have liked to have seen the amber and vanilla maintain their presence and maybe work with a smooth vetiver in the base instead of the patch, because the leather and tobacco are top notch. If you're not averse to patchouli, and are considering a leather fragrance, this may be worth checking out. Projection and longevity were solid for me, but based on other reviews, I could be the exception. Make sure to see how it lasts and projects on yourself before committing to a bottle.

Well, this one accomplishes what is expected of it: the smell of leather and tobacco. And it does that with decent sillage and good lasting power. But its positive aspects end here. It lacks complexity, being linear from beginning to end. This monotone feature ends up giving headache if you pay attention to the smell a whole day long, making it a very uncomfortable scent to wear. Besides, the illusion of leather and tobacco smell comes from the main note: patchouli. This seems to dominate the composition, making anyone anosmic to the rest of the accords. In summary: linear, single note and headache at the cost of +200 euro. Pass.

I get the comparison to Zino, but this has a touch of the gourmand to it, so perhaps 80% Zino, 10% A*Men (with no tar), and 10% unique. This is a situation where you could do some layering and get something similar for considerably less money, it would seem (though the lavender is a bit tamer here). I'd rather either wear vintage Zino or A*Men, but the combination of the two doesn't make much sense to me, as there are a huge number of lavender gourmands with some patchouli. You "amp up" the patchouli and it's supposed to be worth the retail price for this? No, not for me!

Cuir Tabac is lovely and unusual. It reminds me of going through a rich uncle's desk drawer in his library...and finding a weathered leather pull-string pouch and when you open it, the crinkly, dry leather scent mixes with the loose tobacco and its strange richness makes you want to inhale it deeply. I smell a bit of aged chocolate and nut shells grounded in earth, along with a very restrained oud. And maybe some pickled juice. Unique, tantalizing.

Starts out with almost only dry strong patchouli and a hint of pipe tobacco, soon to transform into more like the smell of a warm - unlit - cigarette and a more subtle spicy note. Two hours later what's left is a discrete patchoulinote and a warm very present, yet not aggressive, amber-like touch. Beautiful scent but less isn't always more and maybe this one would've been better off with more potency.

Sweet, balmy, earthy, slightly smoky in the opening...Smells a bit like Pure Havana for the first 15 minutes but then it goes into a patchouli dominant scent mixed with a very miniscule bit of tobacco...After 30 minutes all I really get is the patchouli, if I didn't know any better I would swear im wearing Zino Davidoff... I was hoping for something more than patchouli...

Chewy patchouli, a little sweet, sensation of "open gates" thanks to the lavender and a certain aftershave accord in the background, a very balsamic quality. Nothing new; I've smelled patchouli with lavender like this before and cheaper ones. If I want to wear patchouli, it won't be this one.
