Delicate Essence

I just received a full bottle of DY Delicate Essence after sampling two years ago. I loved this from the first time I ever sniffed it. DYDE never was on the very top of my list to seek out as it could have been winter when I tested it. But I have wanted a full bottle for (like I said) two years. It is spring now and I am sooo glad I have it. The peony is beautiful! It takes me to a warm outdoor tranquil springtime place in my mind when I smell this. The fragrance makes me feel happy, calm, relaxed and just plain satisfied with life. I personally do not smell sour or mothballs in this at all as someone stated. I tried my hardest to sniff it out and got nothing of the sort but of course, to each his own sniffer. At first blast I get peony. Lots of gorgeous soft peony with an ever so slightly hint of sweetness. Nothing is ever cloy or nose burning at all. This is gentle, soft and with a great sillage. As it settles, the rose begins to slip in WITH the peony. Oh gosh this is so gorgeous! The musk and pepper are so very far in the background that they are almost not there...but yet are. The peony/rose florals definitely takes center stage in "Delicate Essence" (which is a perfect name). As for the other notes in the list...I only smell what I just described. I do however get a very very slight hint of synthetic. I have to cram my nose into my arm and sniff so deep I nearly pass out to even get a hint of it. No one else could smell that forsure. Delicate Essence (for me) was so worth purchasing! I just wish I hadn't waited so long to get it. This fragrance is absolutely gorgeous! My husband loves it too :D

I got this as a free sample when I bought a big pile of other samples, so I was kind of already equating the price with how nice it was going to be. I am pleased to be wrong. This is not the most complex or interesting perfume I've ever smelled, but it is really very pleasant. It is soft, clean and yes, delicate. I get rose and what smells to me like lily of the valley, maybe a combination of the lotus and the peony? It didn't change much on my skin, the musk just got slightly more prevalent. This is a simple scent, but that is what I like about it. You can't wear heels every day. (At least I can't!) Edit: When my 5 year old smelled this, she said "It smells like a flower fairy!". She's right, and I mean that in a flattering way :)

I adore this scent and am glad I bought a backup bottle back before they discontinued it as it’s now a couple hundred dollars on eBay. It’s fresh and clean rose soap to my nose. Like fresh out of the shower with a luxurious rose soap. Lots of peony also add to the springy fresh floral vibe. Office safe, spring picnic appropriate, daytime brunch in a sundress kind of scent. I have a full bottle that I’m very cautiously using this spring because, as much as I love it, I’m not dropping that kind of cash to get another bottle!

Cheap, blind buy and I really love this. You must REALLY love rose to wear this. If L'eau d'Issey Issey Miyake and Versace Baby Rose were to mate, the result would be this. On my skin I don't get any woods, which I was bummed about. What I do smell is a bed of aquatic roses, roses and more roses with a tiny sprinkle of spice, oh and did I mention roses? This will be lovely come Spring!

This synthetic mothball note people keep mentioning is AMBERGRIS. A shit ton of ambergris folks. This is salty as hell. It goes on rose floral and some peony then ambergris central. Nice and salty. Then the florals again then the ambergris then they meld together. A nice summer scent.
