Cool Elixir Safran Mineral

The opening on this, through to the mid gives me strong Calvin Klein Crave vibes, taking me back to 2002! Couple that with DKNY Be Delicious Men from 2004 and you’ll have a pretty decent understanding of how this fragrance smells in the opening. Don’t misunderstand, this is going to get compliments, of course, it’s got both the above scent profiles [IMO] with the added bonus of saffron and cedar wood. The dry down is where this fragrance comes into its own and back-heels DKNY BD side to the curb, retaining some of the CK Crave modesty throughout... and though I don’t find it particularly unique to my nose, I also don’t find it generic either! The dry down, I would say suits cooler weather where as the opening seems more spring inclined 👍🏼 Not a beast in projection, but you will catch faint wafts in the air, like I did as it’s settles about 3-4 hours later into a close scent bubble. Of course, this depends on how many sprays you give it, I did 2 so I reckon the more you spray on (skin and clothes), the better it will be. Either way, this is a winner for me. It’s somewhat different, and nostalgic to me, also - but I do love it.

Basing this on how this performed on my skin in a warm climate region. This Starts off very fruity like berry and apple and starts evolving in to a metallic fresh scent - initially overpowering above the saffron but, gradually subtle hints of saffron emerges in the form of spikes and that lingered throughout the wear. Around the one hour mark hints of a sensual musk and wood tend to appear. Despite the woody-spicy accord profile, the fragrance leaned much fresher and more metallic on my skin. Rather than a heavy oriental saffron fragrance, this feels like a modern cold spice scent with metallic freshness at its core. Definitely satisfied with this one! 8.5/10

I’ve found this to be a nuanced yet approachable woody spicy fragrance that safely sits in unisex territory, though marketed for men. The opening lists apple, but on my skin, it isn't very prominent at all. As someone who isn't usually partial to heavy apple notes, I'm happy to report that it stays sheer and light, allowing the saffron to take center stage almost immediately. The saffron accord in the heart is lovely, it has a honeyed, dry hay quality with a soft grassy sweetness. The base is a cedarwood trio that provides a very nice foundation for the saffron. It’s crisp and has a touch of balsamic smokiness that keeps the composition from feeling too flat. While the scent is fairly linear, there’s a persistent, light sweetness throughout the journey. It isn't exactly candied, but it gives the fragrance a comforting warmth. The longevity is a little past moderate, and the sillage is polite. After a couple of hours, it wears closer to the skin, making it a great choice for those who prefer a scent that doesn't overwhelm the room. I think any woman who loves woody, spicy tones will really enjoy this. I actually think this would pair beautifully with sweet & fruity body mists or a vanilla based or sugar cane perfume, if you wanted to lean into that honeyed saffron sweetness. It’s a solid, pleasant release, 8 out of 10 for me!

I've had a 50 ml / 1.7 fl oz bottle of Cool Elixir Safran Mineral for just over a week now. The OG Cool Elixir is my current signature scent. In the opening there is a slight resemblance to Cool Elixir, but that's where any comparison ends. This is very different. The green apple in the opening is almost immediately drowned by cedar and a hint of saffron. The strong cedar with the slight hint of saffron stays for the duration of the fragrance. It's quite linear without much development. The longevity, sillage and projection are on the strong side, but definitely a step down from the OG. If you love cedar, you'll probably like this. I don't love it, but I like it and that's also how I think about this fragrance. I like it, but it's not a love like Cool Elixir is. 7/10.

So Cool Elixir was its own thing after all. It has zero resemblance to Cool Water, because it was never a Cool Water flanker. Interesting. Anyway, Cool Elixir is a Parfum Intense and so is this. Not an Eau de Parfum. Very curious to try this.
