A bottle of potent, refined juice - best ever from this house...and there are plenty of other bottles that Davidoff has put out over the years that are staples in fragrance lovers' wardrobes! It is a true aromatic fougere with an old-school masculine vibe. If you don't like a huge, retro opening of sharp carnation, fresh-squeezed lime and warm leather blended with green notes (basil and artemisia) - then don't even consider buying it. Leave this to guys who want to smell like distinguished gentlemen with taste & class. The drydown has nice patchouli and moss coming in, but Davidoff retains its freshness and sharp notes throughout. This is a classic...a fragrance from yesteryear that can only be worn by someone with an aire of sophistication and macho attitude - any time of day to any occasion. You could wear it as a formal fragrance or even dressed down - but you MUST wear it with "Attitude", capitalized for a reason, and know how to spell chic (let alone understand what it means), or it will wear you. I put this next to some very special bottles of mine. Be careful when buying - the last bottle I purchased had a bad atomizer/sprayer and I had to spend a good deal of money to have the juice taken out and put into a 2nd hand bottle. Nothing against the seller - he is top-shelf! But, Davidoff has never been known for having the best plastic sprayers...damn good juice, though! It has been reviewed very well here and I like what shamus1 and marioslg1 said...definitely a suave, refined MACHO scent and rare. 9+/10! **Update** - A shot on my sleeve and one on the back of my hand right now...I had to come back to this as I have been really loving and admiring other fantastic male fragrances with rose as a note in the composition. I have to say that it is a very definitive fresh bloom that blends beautifully with the lime, basil, carnation, patchouli, orris root, rich oakmoss, gorgeous castoreum and classy leather in Davidoff Classic! I waited for a good 30-40 minutes as I sprayed it on my shirt to see the transition happen slower (the rose came in at about 15 minutes on my skin). What a beautiful bloom! This wearing of Davidoff Classic makes me understand just how good this scent is. I will adjust my score, accordingly, to 10/10! Some just touch excellent (a 9 rating) - this is clearly a notch above that...awesome. Actually, near perfection. A masterpiece, in my mind. For me, this is arguably the absolute best use of castoreum ever in a bottle of scent - yes, that good!. It is present throughout the entire wearing and blends wonderfully with warm, rich leather and smoky olibanum. Only one other classic scent - Vintage Antaeus by Chanel - can compare for most distinguished use of the animalic note provided by the beaver in fragrance. Yatagan by Caron is worthy to note as well, but the overall compositions are so vastly different. A classic that incorporates some of the most incredible depth in a male fragrance one can find - yet, somehow...it never gets too heavy. It stays vibrant and wonderful throughout the wearing. It will stain a light-colored shirt and last for many, many days on fabric. Incredible. Sublime.

If 'capitalism' had a smell, then THIS would be it. This fragrance reeks of money both old and new – loads of it. This starts off brashly and bitingly green with pronounced citrusy & dirty animalistic/leathery tones which overall may scare off many potential buyers. But wait a little longer, and you are rewarded with a heavy green, limey, dusty, imposing and very long lasting fragrance that I reckon would attract admirers rather than lovers, and command the wearer with all round respect and attention. Alpha-males, CEOs, plutocrats, oligarchs, Gordon Gekko wannabes (and their lawyers), as well as captains of industry looking for a signature fragrance need look no further. Teenagers, metrosexuals and the like should stick to their cKs and Tommys and not make the sorry mistake of confusing it with its brother Cool Water, as this has an altogether different attitude. Frankly YOU need to have ‘attitude’, loads of it, to wear this without feeling or smelling incongruous. IMO marvellous as Zino and Cool Water are, Davidoff is better (and don't even mention Echo). After smelling this, I might even buy into this whole cool power vibe thing and start smoking cigars (cough, splutter, wheeze...) and sipping cognac wherever I can. Man, I love these dark green fragrances - indeed Tsar is my all time favourite fragrance and if you like that, I'm pretty sure you’ll like this too. I’ve already spotted a couple of bottles of Davidoff to add to my collection very soon and can’t wait! Davidoff in the daytime, Zino at night. Awesome.

A very ballsy fragrance at first spray I'm not gonna lie it smells like straight castoreum but then it mellows down into something more manageable/wearable. After the first 10-20 minutes, the castoreum becomes very balanced with the other notes and this turns into a green citrus-lime leather with some castoreum in there to keep things interesting. After about 20-30 minutes the fragrance becomes very very very pleasing and I doubt many who hate this fragrance have ever made it this far because it is exquisite, pure class...Makes me feel like a million bucks.... This fragrance is unique as hell, but you definitely have to be confident and have the right mind set to wear this. Scent - 9/10 I it's an amazing fragrance but the opening could be challenging for some Projection/Sillage - 9/10 I think 3 sprays is perfect with this one just make sure you allow about 20 minutes for it to settle down. It's not beastly but will get you noticed I would say it is moderate to average in this department. Longevity - 10/10 Lasts over 10 hours. Versatility - 8/10 Intended for temperatures below 75 degrees I believe. Not the kind of fragrance to wear every day to work but every once in a while is okay! This is a very daring fragrance, a statement making fragrance full of testosterone and class.

Davidoff has made many fragrances throughout his career, but this is undoubtedly the best scent of his entire collection. I do not understand how they discontinued a jewel like that, it is as if you take the picture of Velazquez's Girls and burn it so that no one else can enjoy it live. The aroma is complex to explain and there is nothing similar in the market to what can be compared. You feel a fresh and smoky opening, the citrus trees adjust to a freshness alimonado and the herbs take you to a green, leafy landscape, a fern world of the time of the dinosaurs, without fumbling, well measured, the smoky background is soft, appears The oak moss, the leather and the castoreum that spring up fast from the notes of your heart and push the fragrance to a breath of wind that envelops you and hypnotizes you for three to four hours without being able to take your nose off your arm. It's like being in paradise lost. The duration is brutal and the moderate wake makes it ideal for daytime use. A fern with the best leather, makes Davidoff Davidoff the paradigm of masculinity, something unique that could only be done in the 80s. It is a unique, intoxicating aroma and the great jewel of my vintage collection !! Bravo Davidoff!!!! Rating: 9.8

Beauty and the beast. I have two versions of this; one is a pre-barcode version made in Spain, and the other is made in France. The Spanish one is dominated by the castoreum, and hence smells mainly like a lion marking its spot; it is challenging, but it's still very, very good. The French version however is easily one of the finest fragrances that my nose has ever devoured. The lime, leather, and woods combine to dazzling effect, and it immediately puts me in the shoes of someone who has come from money, with a finely honed ruthless streak... Think Johnny from Karate Kid, cruising around town with his henchmen, and getting lucky with a million Elisabeth Shue's... I'm now in the super quiet living room of a Great Aunt and Uncle in '85 on Saturday afternoon. I've been brought there by my Grandparents, so that my Grandad can see his oldest Sister. I want to know the football scores, but there is a seductiveness in the enforced silence. My Great Uncle is unlike the rest of my family. He is stern, stoic, serious, conservative, and wealthy; he smokes a pipe. The ornate clock ticks, gently, relentlessly. He draws on the pipe, and its aura fills the room. He is his own man. He wears Davidoff Classic.

Davidoff Davidoff is nothing short of MASTERPIECE none bar. I'm so fortunate to have found this PHENOMENON fragrance which was tucked away in a corner in one of my fav store's which just caught my attention. When I first sprayed this frag it definitely came across being heavy which may turn some off. If you are patient you will enjoy a RICH DESIRABLE aroma coming from a touch of rose and caraway with a heightened masculine appeal of leather. You can smell a real sweet/woodsy juice from patchouli, orris root and oakmoss making this frag FABULOUS! Longevity is 10/10.....it's PERFECT for a fall/winter days and best during the evening when you want a frag to be able to make a connections with those who are able to enjoy a really high quality fragrance. Silage is also excellent, you can smell it more then 3ft away without layering it. Overall opinion, Being an old school frag it's an OPULENT frag which is absolutely divine touched by the God's of the fragrance. Nothing less then perfection is this frag especially when other's were being launched at the same time. I wouldn't give up this fragrance because I loooooooove it a lot!!!! 10/10...♡♡♡♡♡♡

I'm coming back to write this after a month of becoming reacquainted with this EDT. Yes, it is possible to fall even deeper in love. I have been remembering my first experiences with Davidoff -- those moments of, "oh wow! what is this stuff?!" and "where have you been my whole life?!" I love it from the time I first apply it and alllllll the way through the dry down. It really does scream sophistication in a way I wish so many of my other fragrances do, but sadly do not. Sometimes I enjoy going all in with a fragrance and I don't worry about how dirty it is -- I have a number of oud oils I enjoy wearing out and about. Other times I enjoy blending in with the crowd and I wear something every other person has on. Then there are times where I enjoy wearing what I imagine Marcus Antonius wore when he first met Cleopatra and she noticed just how damn good he smelled. There are times I think that I might enjoy Davidoff more than I enjoy Nino Cerruti Pour Homme. Definitely close. Good stuff, Davidoff.

I accidentally found today in a pharmacy, 125ml edt, 75ml edt and 50 ml after shave....and i bought them all. this was my first experience with this perfume. it is very masculine and together with zino, the best from Davidoff for real men. All other are not for my taste including the famous cool water. Here we are talking for a real men perfume, something that you can't find easily today. I found some bottles in ebay today for $129 per bottled as the specific perfume is very rare. I cant understand why davidoff stopped producing those two perfumes....it is absolutely insane for me to have such perfumes in your collection and stop producing them. I had a lot of years to smell such a manly scent....one of the great classics of 80s!

My bottle (the original: Parfums Davidoff version) leaked a couple of drops the other day so I wiped the nozzle with my finger. That miniscule amount remained on my finger for 10 hours, projecting well for at least half of it - impressive! I also noticed just how oily this one is, which explains its high quality performance. Definitely niche quality, it's worth reproducing its description from the leaflet inside the box: "Woody, spicy, masculine in aroma. A perfume of assertive elegance, influence and responsibility. The topnote is marked with aromatic accents. The heart is spicy, dry, with traces of Muscat, Coriander and Cardamom. Amber and Musk being warmth and body."

UPDATE: Tried this again today. Stunningly special and just crying out to be some lucky one's signature fragrance. It has an unmistakable old school feel about it, macho but sophisticated, that WILL garner attention whether you like it or not. It delivers the impression that whoever is wearing it is an extravagant and proven leader. This is also of niche quality and is uncompromising masculinity in a bottle. Irrespective of the clothes she's wearing or her sexuality, any woman wearing this is likely to be perceived as "butch" :) Boys using this risk being accused of trying too hard to be taken seriously:)) In my opinion, wonderful as Zino is, this is better still.

I forgot how much I love this stuff. Wore it in the mid/late 80s and I had to hide my bottle from my girlfriend. She was always trying to steal it away. Brings back many memories. Never ceases to amaze me how a subtle difference in a blend can produce such drastically huge differences in an end product. This really is a magical fragrance to me. This along with Iquitos and Calvin were my go to fragrances and I am happy that I still have at least two of these today.

Davidoff is truly fine. A men ́s fragrance that women will love on their men or on themselves. Relunctantly, I just now gave my husband a vintage mini, my only one, perfectly full, maybe never used. He loved it immediately. It has a smoky dry down, maybe vetiver. Not sweet at all and really fine. Animal notes, yes. This is the real stuff, turns boys into men, and women into seductresses with one splash.

Probably the best scent by Davidoff. 10/10 for scent 9/10 for longevity 8/10 for sillage. 10/10 for sheer class I use this fragrance very sparingly as I am now down to the last few mls! However on the infrequent occasions when I apply this magic juice, it really lifts my mood and spirits. It's just sheer lunacy to discontinue the production of this fragrance! It smells so good!

Masterpiece from the past 🏆❤️ I really don't understand why Davidoff discontinued this gem 💎??? Such a pity 🤔 I really love this beast mode fragrance from the 80's ! On the same ballpark as Patou pour homme original ♂️ & derby by Guerlain those fragrances are not made for kids or sweet lovers 😁 it's made for real men ♂️ with hairy chests 💪

To give you an idea of the nuclear performance of this fragrance, I finished my bottle and threw it away in Spring 2019, but kept the box for old time's sake. Amazingly, the interior of the box still smells strongly of the scent in Nov 2024, nearly 6 years later!

Unbelievably good. Also unbelievable that how Davidoff fragrances detoriated through the years. This would beat any masculine "niche" that's on the market now

Awesome, powerful and undoubtedly masculine. Awesome. Agree on 9.5/10. Reminds me of Antaeus, castoreum surely.

Decades later and I still miss it as one of the best male fragrances ever!

One of a kind. VERY (I mean it!)masculine with complicated formula and interesting ingredients. A fragrance for a mature man, super well blended. NEVER EVER for a boy under 30! Sharp opening but don't let deceive yourself! After an hour it changes to a very masculine, elegant and subtle smell with a lot of class. Really I adore this fragrance for it's class. It's quite long lasting too. It makes me feel actually more mature (I am 34) and older, yeah.... But it's OK. Davidoff Classic is a good example of what a real fragrance for man used to be in 80-ties. It's a pitty it became so rare today. But I managed to buy 25 ml bottle without spray and I am happy. To be honest - I use it ocassionaly, when I feel I need to feel like an mature man sitting in the armchair made of leather with a cigarette in my hand. It mixes well with cigarette smoke. I doubt it works well in summertime, but it's great for the rest of the year. Try it IF YOU CAN!

Just received my 7 ml mini bottle. Well, it's okay. I'm a big fan of 80s fragrances (Paco Rabanne, Giorgio Beverly Hills, Quorum, Azzarro, Black Suede, etc.) and similar ones like Floris Elite, so I was hopeful. There's a note contained in this that just throws it off for me, making it a little "harsh." I got used to it though. It's a very strong performer for longevity and sillage. If the prices for full bottles weren't so high I would buy one. (I have Zino arriving tomorrow, so I'm back on the hope train.)
