Wood Blend

First try of Davidoff Wood Blend, one of a handful of similarly-named fragrances (along with Leather, Agar, and Amber) that seem to be difficult to track down despite being listed on the Zino Davidoff website. It’s spicy, resinous, woody, and frankly a bit leathery, almost the spicy leather counterpart to the rather sweet-and-spicy Leather Blend itself. The main standout notes are leather, nutmeg, cardamom, olibanum, amber, and vetiver. It’s just a touch sweet, and spicy without being particularly animalic, just not purely woody per se, despite the name. “Spice Blend” might be a more fitting moniker, even though that’s now occupied by a Maison Christian Dior offering. It reminds me of a slightly less spicy, slightly less animalic version of Salvatore Ferragamo Oud, which pivots more toward a castoreum-type animalic quality, whereas Wood Blend leans a little more resinous and ever so slightly sweet, perhaps midway way between Ferragamo Oud and Leather Blend. Overall, it’s curiously spicy, resinous, slightly dark, without being dirty or animalic nor pivoting to something on the sweeter side, which is what I love about Leather Blend, but Wood Blend is a bit closer to a somewhat mainstream/masculine that feels especially appropriate cooler weather and/or evening, possibly a men’s cold weather signature scent. It performs well above average and testers are sold on FragranceX for under $60, with free shipping, so it’s actually the easiest of the Davidoff “Blend” line to find, currently. 8 out of 10

I was in Dubai sniffing the local fragrances and came across a particular ambery fragrance with cardamom and saffron. It was very high quality and very expensive. Had to let it go. 7months later I tested Davidoff Woodblend, it was everything and more than the fragrance I had smelled in Dubai. The Safron and Amber make it the most sophisticated fragrance I own. It is unique and perfect for winters.I love it more than Leather, Agar and Amber blend just for its sophistication. Own it Love it!

finally got the bottle.and let me say very clearly its not for all.if only you like bentley for men absolute and encre noire, you will fall in love with this.ofcourse they are all different fragrances but the woody spicy masculine vetiver feel is just splendid, another masterpiece from the blend line.own them all now and im super happy.will do an exclusive review soon on "Joy Amin" channel soon on youtube :) its masculine to say the least, for Blend line lovers...its a must

I tested it today,just on a paper,and yes,it does remind me a lot of Declaration,which I owned many years ago,and now I own the parfum version.So,i would definitely have to test it on skin,to check it out,but if the result would be the same,it would be redundant purchase.

This is GOOD! Wood and spice bomb. Statement worthy. Great performance. Be easy on the sprays because this is some strong juice. Sadly underrated.

At first I couldn't stand this perfume. Now I love it. It's the scent that makes me think of my dad. He gifted it to me for a birthday at the time when my only other fragrance was One million (also a gift). Now, a few years into my fragrance journey, my nose has matured and I can appreciate the scent for what it is. It is definitely a mature person scent, a manly man who knows what he wants. But he's not a savage, he's also refined, well ''blended'' so to say. Also, be careful on the trigger, as it's quite an assertive scent.

Surprisingly wearable dark vetiver. It has elements of Encre Noire (that I cannot stand btw.), but the spices (saffron and coriander) brighten it a bit. Where in Encre Noire you get macabre smell of damp wooden coffin interior, here it is more a wooden box where the trader stored his spices while on the road with a caravan. It has its own mysterious oriental vibe. I won’t be considering purchase as I’m not particularly into vetivers right now, but it would be a serious contender if I were:-)

Woody spicy olibanum. Balsamic olibanum scent with added coriander, cardamom, & vetiver that gives the scent a green aromatic vibe. The leather adds a rich depth to the scent. Feels luxurious. Like an occasion only fragrance. Very likeable. Davidoff is doing a great job with their "Blend" collection Mature/Cool weather wear. Big "Like".

Two sprays max, else you will chock everyone in the room. Great perfume though.

This opens nasty. I should have known better with a primary comparison to the nasty, body odor smelling, cuminesq Cartier Declaration. Why would a perfumer rely so heavily on coriander to create a dominant woody accord? "Woody" isn't even a listed accord. This is by far the worst of the collection. Julien Rasquinet laid an egg on this one imo. Not that woody, but rather a nasty warm spicy leather. Really nasty. But of course if you like that sort of thing maybe this will suit you. But obviously my opinion of it is an anomaly. Most people seem to like it a lot. But I think the Fragrantica score it's got is way, way too high. But I'm the outlier. The wisdom of crowds says it's great. But anyhow, Warm Spicy when it manifests like cumin is offputting to me. I really like Leather Blend and Amber Blend and I wanted this as part of the collection. Oh well. It looks good on the shelf at least. Now it's on to Agar Blend!

After the masterfully crafted amber and leather blend, I blind bought this as it was on sale. This is one of those times where a blind buy doesn't work out. It's a disappointment for me. Very benign fragrance and not worth the price tag.

Very sharp and full of character. It smells too much like alcohol to me. Quite overwhelming and very spicy. I definitely wouldn't buy this again. It doesn't speak to me.

Cartier Declaration + amber + saffron good quality

I never was a fan of Davidoff- Too generic, too much of a beginners mass perfume & that sort of thing. Last week the new range on display just caught my attention- Wood, leather, Agar-- And I told myself- Okie, Davidoff coming of age or what? The entire range smelled fascinating. First cut- Very classy. Nouveau riche, Mystic, sophisticated..... And they all seemed to have similarities on the mid to drydown. Woodblend- first burst transports me to a mystic wood ambience- Fresh greens and spices mingling, lemon.. The top notes have a very exoctic thing going on that whispers mystic.But this gives way very soon to spice, saffron, amber with a subtle hint of leather. Maybe there is a faint touch of vetiver too. The drydown holds steady on the Saffron, Some pleasant and subtle dry woodsy note in accompaniment. All in all beautiful fragrance- Projection for first 2-3 hrs is good. Then its sort of close. I am still not sure about the longevity- 3-4 hrs is fine. Haven't done the 8 hr test. YOu see, after a while it sits close to the skin in a subdued manner. But then I had put on very less spray. THis is EDP and thus supposed to be potent. I bought a 100ml bottle for 7 grand. Moderately expensive by Indian Standards- Tom Fords and Creeds cost me 20 grand. I liked it that much. Amber drydown reminded me of too many scents I had used. Saffron/Whitepepper/Leather/Sandal Wood. Agar blend was the one I liked most with its raisins, rum, cinnamon and wood combo. A wee on the sweet side so settled for woody mystic- woodblend. I rally don't know why wood is highlighted as its gone too soon.

comparing it to leather and agar blends, which i love and own, this one just seems like an afterthought. i blind bought it based on description alone. my expectation is therefore woody and spicy. well, there is a HINT of woody & spicy but only on the first blast; after 3 minutes it is gone, left is the sweetness of amber, saffron, and some leather. NOT woody at all. i expected a bit more from the woody-green-smoky spectrum. i wouldn't buy it, if i had smelled this beforehand, because all in all, it smells to me just like the dry-down of agar blend which i already own. "Wood Blend" has no character of it's own. is it a good perfume? yes. am i disappointed? also yes. addition: i have been wearing/testing this for 2 days now, longevity (on me) is 1 hour.

Wood Blend is an undisguisedly Vetiver-themed fragrance. In fact, the fragrance slightly reminds me of Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver. Slightly! The only difference is that there's potent woodsy notes in the background. I wore the frag to work this morning and some ladies complimented me today! In fact, one of them left few minutes ago! She asked about what I was wearing. I'm shocked at past 4pm, the frag is still detectable (by others)! My fave from the brand: Leather Blend hasn't gotten me this much compliments! Lol...

I revisited Declaration Essence recently & immediately recognized the similarity to Wood Blend. I don’t know how I missed it before having owned them both at one time. I think I’d appreciate this more now than I did earlier in my fragrance journey. Frankly, I do regret selling my bottle. There’s a big difference in quality between Davidoff’s Blend line & their other fragrances.

WOOD BLEND IS TRULY A MASTERPIECE....I JUST SOLD ONE TO ONE OF MY CUSTOMERS THIS MORNING AND HE COULDN'T EVEN WAIT TOP START SPRAYING RIGHT IN MY SHOP AND WOW! HE WAS BLOWN AWAY. DEFINITELY GIVES VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY.

Apparently judging by its aesthetics, this is going to be a Vetiver-themed fragrance! Bring it on! Can't wait to buy this fragrance! Lol...

I’m wondering... how is it possible that no body mentioned issey miyake noir ambre. Exactly the same smell. Forget about declaration plzzz
