Ambra Telluris

I am madly in love with this fragrance, just as I love Beryllium (Be), the material from which sapphires and aquamarines are made (anyone wishing to gift me one is more than welcome), the symbol of this fragrance, which clings to my skin like a true precious stone. Ambra Telluris by Degrhaal is a fragrance that opens with a fascinating blend of woody, floral, and citrus notes, reminiscent of the fresh scent of orange blossoms. Soon after, a warm and spicy hint of nutmeg emerges, with a woody undertone and a sweetness that perfectly blends with a slight touch of bitterness, creating an intriguing balance. At the heart of the composition, subtle hints of musk and tobacco add an alluring depth and softness. The citrus dominance is enriched by an interesting interpretation reminiscent of Sichuan pepper, bringing a spicy and sparkling sensation that is also sweet and enveloping, similar to clove but with a distinct spicy intensity. As it evolves, Ambra Telluris reveals a woody and oriental heart that surprises with its incredible sweetness, accompanied by a fresh, green nuance that gradually transforms into a drier, earthier note while remaining warm and embracing. Its ability to blend wood with soft citrus touches is what gives the fragrance its rich complexity. The presence of peat emerges powerfully, adding a unique strength to the composition. Peat, formed from fossilized organic material, lends the fragrance an earthy accent, mingling with hints of asphalt, ashes, and a sunny, slate-like undertone, creating an almost mineral sensation. Occasionally, a salty nuance appears, making the fragrance even more captivating. The best is yet to come: a surprising truffle note enriched by hints of sulfur, yeasts, and earthy sensations that gradually evolve into caramel, candied fruits, and a hint of butter, offering a rich and enveloping olfactory profile. The opulent, sugary wood asserts itself intensely, with a persistent trail of ash that adds great depth and intensity to the fragrance. Tested it today — it’s in the same ballpark as MFK Grand Soir, perhaps even a clone. That said, the ingredients are high quality, and it definitely doesn’t smell cheap. The drydown is strikingly similar to Grand Soir, but Ambra Telluris comes with a premium price tag. The real question is: would I pay nearly the same price for a 50ml bottle of Ambra Telluris as I would for Grand Soir? Probably not — unless I found it through a good discount.

Parfum pas mal, mais un peu trop féminin pour moi. Surement à cause de l'odeur de ce que j'assimile à de l'ambre (qui n'apparait pourtant pas dans les notes fragrantica). Après le nom Ambra Telluris aurait du m'alerter :-) J'ai choisi à l'aveugle pour la note de lave qui m'intéressait. Pour ceux qui aime cette note, préférez Kilauea d'Olympich Orchids.

It is hilarious that I went into a store to smell/purchase Dark Matter and ended up walking out with this one because I hated Dm and fell hard for Be. To me this is a faerie fragrance. I ADORE notes like Peat, Soil, Rain and Moss/Lichen and the peat in this is a primary player in the notes, it has this ultra sweet darkness that reminds me of the forest floor in this whimsical way. After 10 minutes the fragrance shifts and the nutmeg and pepper pop their heads up which I usually wouldn't like because these notes are too aggressive for me but because the peat is so earthy and creamy and loud, they just provide a really high quality depth that is nutty/seedy/woody/spicy. It then shifts lightly again and a soft anise/wormwood/absinthe/licorice note pops up and provides some extra greenness. The final shift mellows out in the most delicious earthy, creamy base notes and you smell delicious in a way that I would describe as a moss milkshake. Like literally, if you pulled a piece of carpet moss up (with a little soil on the base) and blended it with pepper and a vanilla malt shake and added a shot of absinthe, You would get this. I am so freaking happy with this one. It is going straight into my little collection of forest fae perfumes with Chypre Mousse by Oriza L. Legrand, Coven by Andrea Maack and my sample of Pangea by Extra Virgo. I truly imagine little fae folk with glistening translucent wings sitting on a mossy stump by a river when I smell this. A little fae like, a little witchy, very sweet but with a masculine nuance. If you have smelt or can smell Horizon by Oriza L. Legrand, it has the same peat smell mixed with that creamy whimsy of Chypre Mousse, a little extra pepper spice and a touch of a licorice/wormwood like spice. Truly magickal. I think the comment below saying it was too spicy confused this one with Dark Matter because I was convinced I bought the wrong bottle because I assumed the Lava notes would make this an ultra-spice beast like Dark Matter but it is a totally the opposite. Earthy, grounded, sweet, woody, whimsical 🥰

This isn't a loud or showy scent-it's grounded, like weathered stone or deep soil after rain. Earthy, mineral, slightly metallic, but clean. Think iron-rich rock warmed by the sun, not damp forest floor. It wears close but lingers-meditative, almost ritualistic. No sweetness, no fluff-just stillness, structure, and depth. It feels like it was designed, not just composed. If Degrhaal is building a fragrance architecture, Ambra Telluris is its foundation.

This is a very spicy perfume, perfect for colder weather.
