Almond

Yea ummm dangerously delicious real almond, not playdoh, but real almond extract, nutty, pure and amazing. Even tho I do love the playdoh almond kind in perfumes like Forbidden and Girl of Now, this one is so unique because it is not even almond blossom which smells like floral nutty almond (in BBW Almond Blossom). This smells straight up like the chewy almond cookies/sweet of Spetses, the Greek island, "amygdalota" αμυγδαλωτά, and I made some myself about a month ago and once I sprayed this I started craving them again. For the Greek recipe I basically use rose water and with the almond crumbs and almond extract it smells identical to this. It is too strong also and nutty like youre eating a cookie with some roasted almonds in there. This is beyond gourmand, this is mixing the ingredients to make these soft cookies. Update: So Ive worn this enough now. I was wrong you cannot pair it with other perfumes or mists, unless u wait for 30 mins or so, but its so potent that overpowers everything else. It has 2 stages. Its drydown is slightly different than the opening (its first 15 or so minutes), less food-like. After about 30 mins or less, the intense almond extract scent becomes softer and gives place to a more sugary scent like candied almond, reminiscent of the fruit shaped colored marzipan pieces I was eating like a kid, we call them "little fondants" in Greece and they come in various fruit shapes. There is also something kinda "plastic" here but I love it, something like benzoin, its the first time I cannot even describe a scent. This is very unique and I love it. After 30 mins it morphs into more of a perfume scent rather than straight up food-cooking extract, so I no longer wanna bite myself.

After trying dozens of almond scents, I've landed on this gem that sat in a drawer untouched for years. I bought a bunch of Demeter samples a few years ago and while some of them were ok, most disappeared in mere minutes and I forgot about them. Since I've been on an almond tear, I reluctantly dragged this sample out just to be disappointed. Well count me shocked because not only does this actually smell like sweet almonds, it lasts on my skin for upwards of 3-4 hours, which is a downright miracle for Demeter. I've bought a huge bottle for under $18 and I've been layering it with tons of fragrances, especially vanillas and orientals. I see the comparison to Orgasmo, but I actually like Demeter better, especially for the price. I had very high hopes for Orgasmo, but it was so faint and became a skin scent in minutes. I expected a lot more for $160. Your skin may vary, as mine is all over the place when it comes to almond, but I urge you to try a sample of Demeter before spending lots of money on more expensive perfumes. This is my second favorite, truly linear almond, just behind House of Oud Almond Harmony.

Almond is one of my favorite notes. I love this for layering. It smells to me of an almond cake, something more than just the one note. I especially love adding it to a rose scented perfume. I just opened my bottle of the perfume oil (I always buy these in oil form because it makes control of the layering process so easy.) I swear I’ve had my bottle for 4 years at least and the fragrance was as delicious and amazing as the first time I opened it. I would highly recommend this in the $12 oil form. GORGEOUS. DELICIOUS.

I bought this specifically to see if I could layer it on some of my other floral-gourmand scents to create a more fall-winter scent. I love, love, LOVE almond scents, but I don't necessarily want to smell like an Italian bakery. This stuff smells like almond extract, and it's very pronounced, very sweet - an abject almond scent. I love it. However, with that being said, I don't think I would wear this scent alone unless I was going to work in a mall as one of Santa's elves because it's too one note. With that being said, it was never marketed as anything but one note, and because it's one note, it layers especially well with some of my scents that already have an almond note, like Marc Jacob's Perfect, to create a warmer, richer bouquet. This is also the first Demeter Fragrance I've ever bought, and now I'm looking forward to growing my scent library for layering.

It opens as a heavy bitter almond. It is absolutely gorgeous and very realistic. Quite quickly it turns into a milky, powdery, dusty sweet almond, so the drydown is quite different from the start. From a slice of a delicious Mazarin cake to a glass of sweet almond milk. It lingers for quite a while and while it's not bad, it's milky rather than nutty, and the smell of sweet milk may be a tad difficult on some days. I prefer the bitter almond note and wish they had made two separate scents; one for sweet almond and one for the bitter.

Incredibly realistic almond scent. Smells like the filling of an almond croissant. Unfortunately this perfume does not last at all, after 5 min you would not be able to tell that you have any scent on you at all. Save your money, there are a lot of better perfumes for this price.

Interesting, this is a little different than most almond fragrances out there. It's richer and very nutty, still sweet but not vanilla-y. It's pleasant but not really a complete fragrance.

Smells like Dutch butter almond cake. Almondy but also somehow bready. Like a French bakery.

Demeter Almond smells divine for about five minutes. In the air and on my skin it smells like almond extract or almond liqueur. It was exactly what I was hoping for in a solinote fragrance. I just wish it stuck around a lot longer. After 15 minutes on skin it start to smell dusty and loses all the sweetness. I tried it on clothes and it lasts about 30 minutes before it starts to smell dusty. The performance is pretty abysmal. It lasts an hour on skin, but most of that time it's a bit unpleasant with that dustiness. It is marginally better on clothes, lasting an additional 30 minutes. It really doesn't project at all within 5 minutes of application. I tried applying like a body spray (15-20 sprays) and it didn't help the longevity at all and only marginally improved the projection. If this had any longevity at all it would be the perfect fragrance to layer with when wanting to add or boost an almond note. When first sprayed it smells natural and delicious. There is no heavy blast of alcohol to wait out like with some inexpensive fragrances. But it's gone before it has a chance to really enhance another fragrance. It's also not strong enough to pair with a lot of other fragrances. I tried it with Lost Cherry and Demeter Almond was almost completely drowned out despite spraying 5 sprays of Almond for every spray of Lost Cherry Demeter fragrances are pretty affordable, but not so inexpensive I can justify the price for something i have to spray every hour to smell it. It's still $25-30CAD for the 120ml bottle at most discounters.

The first few moments after spraying this fragrance are pure heaven! It smells like I just spilled a bottle of almond extract all over my wrist -- so, kudos to Demeter for nailing the scent so well. However, this phase does not last long. Give it about five minutes, and you'll be sniffing something that more closely resembles an almond cookie, biscotti, or other dessert (it actually reminds me of a very simple, dense pastry called "almond puff" that my mother makes during the holidays, which is flavored with little more than almond extract and topped with a sugary glaze flavored with more almond extract and sprinkled with slivered almonds). This phase is also enjoyable. It makes the perfume a lot less linear than some of the other offerings from this brand (which, depending on your preference, may be a positive or a negative aspect... I'll admit, I do enjoy the transition, as it's novel, and still remains true to the idea of almond-scented foods in general). Regrettably, most Demeters (with the possible exception of Funeral Home) end up revealing a plasticky drydown on my skin after about an hour, and this one is no exception. Of course, this can be temporarily remedied by spraying again and again, but eventually, I end up smelling the plastic at the end of the day (and that's a shame, because the rest of the fragrance is so nice!!).

Fantastic, strong almond-extract opening, fades to something synthetic and weird after a few minutes. Wish I could bottle that opening, I love almond.

Scared to try because it’s easy to be too much and this was too much. Artificial scented candle. Projects sweetly spiced rice pudding. Was expecting marzipan, but the toasted element is bizarrely strong. Green sapling wood more than nuts. Strangely inaccurate and tangy, like raw pastry dough. 30 mins later it becomes more dusty, unsweetened nuts, but still retains a strong pop of artificiality.

This perfume kind of reminds me of Sol De Janeiro, especially number 71. With initial spray it smells nice and like almond, but then it settles into something that doesn’t smell like almond. It’s something heavy and complex, kinda smells like dust.. old dust. I really wanted to like this one because I do like almond, but because of the settled sillage I have to dismiss this one.

I'm in quest of the perfect almond perfume ever since Jo Malone Crocus and honey got discontinued so I was very eager to try this one basing on some reviews. unfortunately, this fragrance has nothing to do with real almonds. At first I smelled something like amaretti biscuits and shortly after it developed into a cloying, pungent, nondescript perfume. What a disappointment

I wanted a pure scent of almond - may me even an almond cooking essence-like - but this came out as a disappointment.It is almond, allright, but it is just too light and weightless, not like Demeter fragrances I tried before. Would be great as a first perfume or for someone who dislikes strong scents.

I love the smell of almonds but this was just too heavy for me. And that's saying a lot, because i normally go for the slightly heavier scents. There was something so sickly sweet about this and it made me feel nausiated. I sold it at a fleamarket for 50 cents. I had such high hopes!

sweet chopped almond to nasty cherry chapstick

the almond scent is very strong at first blush, honestly unpleasantly overwhelming, but dries down to a waxy, musty, nauseating smell that i had to wash off, which almost never happens.

I'll start by saying that, so far, the only scents I've actually really liked by Demeter have been the "Pistachio Ice Cream", "Wet Garden" and JellyBelly's "Blueberry Muffin". Others I've tried have verged on being OK, but not great.... "Strawberry Ice Cream" smells OK - like a cheap tub of strawberry ice cream, "Leather" smells like whatever it is they spray in new cars or on new carpet.... "Neroli" and "Tiger Lily" lack headiness/depth/warmth but are pleasant, "Jasmine" freshens up clothing nicely. This "Almond" scent doesn't even smell good enough to be in one of those children's "make your own fragrance" kits. "Almond" doesn't smell like green, fresh almond, doesn't smell like marzipan, doesn't smell like sugarcoated almonds, amaretto, OR almond essence. It smells like melting plastic DIPPED IN some watered down almond essence that's been stored in a cupboard in mother's kitchen since the Eighties. Or maybe even some cake batter (OK, at a push I'll go with biscotti) that's been in a tupperware since the Eighties. This is weak, sugary, plasticky crap and there's absolutely no other way of looking at it.

In the first few seconds this was a light sweet almond, reminding me of the sugar-coated almonds they used to give out at weddings. Then almost right away I get the toasted note but it doesnt smell right it smells like cedar and incence or something just not right, not what i expect in an almond scent. No sale.
