Aniseed changing to lettuce changing to honeyed tea. Doesn't replicate basil in my view but pleasant and unobtrusively natural, unisex and good for the office.

This is my first Demeter and overall it's what I would expect. Really nice licorice-y and green basil that sticks around for not very long at all. I'll keep playing around with my cologne sample and I'll probably spring for the perfume oil at some point. I'm disappointed more perfumes don't have a basil note!

This doesn't really smell like basil to me. It opens with a faint basil-like scent but that dissipates within seconds, and all that's left is a dull, bland scent which I can't even describe. All I can say is that it doesn't smell bright, green, and uplifting as basil should smell.

Huge anise/licorice with dry, peppery, herbal note. Basil is such a singularly pungent scent, it’s shocking how inaccurate this is. Not even a little basil here. Almost feels like a labeling mistake; it's so egregious. Fine projection that only lasts a couple hours.

I'm getting black licorice. Sure, fresh basil has a touch of that but black licorice is the only thing I'm getting here.

Smells nothing like basil to me. It smells atrocious and chemically, like insect spray or some kind of toxic cleaning product. I was hoping to layer with this, but it's horrible.

For Christmas I received a trio of Demeter scents, and this is my first sampling from the house. This is a peppery basil with a dash of peppermint and a small bit of rubber. A very strong scent, and it’s my favorite of the three. Intriguing but also unfortunate as this scent is not wearable. I love basil, but I imagine myself swimming in a giant salad bowl when I’m in the presence of Demeter Basil, so a pass on anything beyond the sample.
