Beeswax

Short version: Beeswax is a subtle melding of blossoms, nectar, and pollen, neither a true floral nor a true honey. AND I LOVE IT. I want to smell like this every single day, possibly for the rest of my life. Long version: This one snuck up on me. At first it was floral, and I was utterly bummed. I don't need even one more floral. Then it started to mellow, and I was increasingly intrigued. Suddenly I was thinking of my grandma's house, and didn't know why. Then it dawned on me — the scent was calling up memories of the trumpet vine in her yard. I used to pick the flowers to suck out the drop of nectar at the bottom. And *then* the honey note finally kicked in, and I was sold. Others find Beeswax synthetic or artificial, but my skin chemistry must be working some kind of magic, because on me it's a warm, instantly comforting scent. The sweetness is delicate, neither cloying nor sugary. There's also something that's almost-but-not-quite musky. The 'powder' note in my opinion is actually pollen, as opposed to a talc or baby powder aroma. As much as I love it, I do have to admit that Beeswax doesn't quite smell like an actual honeycomb. If that's what you're looking for, there's a very real chance you'll be disappointed. But I insist that is delicious, nonetheless. Longevity isn't great. I definitely recommend upgrading to the roll-on oil. If you want a stronger, sugarier, more straightforward honey scent (minus the floral/pollen notes) go for Demeter's Honey instead.

I have to say I'm surprised this has so many negative reviews. Although the longevity isn't great, it is easily in my top 5 Demeter scents, and the roll-on perfume oil definitely lasts longer than the cologne spray. I will say this: to me, it does not smell like beeswax, and I definitely see where other reviewers have gotten baby powder. I agree that it does smell like baby powder when sprayed/rolled on initially. However, it mellows out to a sweet, comforting honey and floral. I like to layer it with Demeter's Wildflowers or Amber. I find myself wearing it a lot more in the summer than the winter. A very fresh scent overall.

oh my gosh, i am obsessed with this scent. i cover my whole body, calves all the way up to the top of my head with it! it is SO pretty! I smell sweet beeswax/honey, lilacs, honeysuckle, other flowers & greenery. to me, this is what heaven smells like. I have bought & gone thru the largest bottle they sell 3.4 oz and then i bought the 1 oz plus a travel sized bottle. but the scent DOES NOT last. I'd pay twice the price if they'd add twice as much fragrance. I have SO MANY other fragrances, but i still wear this at least three times a week, haha. once it wears off, i add another of my favorites!

On me this one is really a true beeswax scent! I put it on and was instantly transported to a craft day as a kid, rolling sheets of pressed beeswax into candles. It has that same warm, melty honey scent of the wax, I can't find the right word for it. I enjoy this one for something more intimate, and it layers really nicely under some of the lighter floral scents I have. It's more cozy than refreshing on its own. I find I lose the scent on my skin with most perfumes within a couple hours, but the honey-ness of this one lingers a bit more for me. Love it.

smells more like honeysuckle to me, with a *very* slight beeswax base note to mellow it out. while this floral is lovely, i was disappointed and will keep looking for a true beeswax fragrance. demeter's description didn't give the impression that this was one of their more interpretive rather than representative scents. dirt, for example, smells exactly like dirt.

It's aight, not too mad for the price. It's not a pure PURE beeswax scent, lowkey soapy in a way. Like people said below, there's some clove/spice/aldehydes and honeysuckle/florals in here. Some really lovely honey undertones under all that though. Not bad, but not extraordinary.

Memories of summer beekeeping. I spent a couple of summers beekeeping and educating and this fragrance smells of fresh beeswax with a floral top note. Not overtly sweet but warm. It does not have a lot of staying power.

The opening all I get is honeysuckle- and as we all know with Demeter- the opening is really all you get before the scent disappears lol.

This one is disappointing! Not beeswax at all - upon first spray it’s a bar of honeysuckle soap, quickly drying down to jasmine and then a nondescript floral sweetness. Not a bad smell, but not beeswax!

Demeter sadly misses the mark with this one. It smells somewhere between mothballs and the horrible hang off the rim toilet cleaner in that lurid shade of blue. What on earth does this have to do with honey or beeswax? It was a blind purchase off of eBay. A terrible choice for breaking my New Year's resolution not to buy any more perfume.

This smells overwhelmingly like baby powder on me, that’s all I can smell. Not my favorite. I feel a little nauseous.

I have been searching for the perfect honey/beeswax fragrance. To me, perfection is somewhere between the animalic/skanky/dirty side of the spectrum and the powdery, innocent and sweet side of the spectrum. Beeswax by Demeter unfortunately isn't even on the spectrum. It smells overly chemically, and almost identical to a baby wipe at first. Now it is drying down and an acrid toffee(?) note is coming into play and it is making me wince. If I smell from about 2 inches away, I understand a bit more what the aim of the fragrance is. Its trying to replicate that soft indescribable powderiness of beeswax, but they missed the mark. When I touch my nose to where I sprayed, I get overwhelmed with a synthetic and really off-putting undercurrent. So disappointed. I love Eau de Miel from L'Occitane, but it is discontinued and also perhaps too innocent and soft for it to be perfect. I also desperately love the Honey I Washed The Kids line from Lush even though its not entirely honey--more so a mouthwateringly perfect blend of citruses and honey and toffee. Then I've tried the hardcore honeys, which to me are just not right and far away from what I'm searching for. Things like Mamluk from Xerjoff, Bois Lumiere from Anatole Lebreton etc.--these tend to be dirty and just not palatable enough for me. If anyone knows a not too sweet, not too skanky, not too floral honey/beeswax, please let me know!

I kept bees until I became allergic to them. I just love the heady smell of beeswax and honey at the height of summer. I bought a small bottle because someone said it smelled just like beeswax candles. The bottle had leaked all over the box upon arrival. It in no way smelled anything like beeswax. It was cloying and sickly, more like roach spray (I am from New York City so I am more than familiar with that smell, too). Everyone who smelled it, hated it. Luckily, customer service was great- I was able to replace the leaked bottle with something else less repulsive, Lily of the Valley, which I like very much.

Even if you don't like Demeter fragrances, you've got to take your hat off to them for pinpointing exact fragrances/olafactory experiences. This was the first demeter that disappointed me. When you sniff the bottle it sure smells like honey and beeswax but upon application it smells like crushed flowers on my skin. Squished, dragged across your skin flowers and greenery. I guess this would be good if you were looking for a flowery smell with a 'touch' of honey?

I'm a fan of this quirky scent. This fragrance while not very long lasting is shockingly evocative. Its like being taken on a tour of smells associated with bees. The first few minutes are a hot blast sunshine, flower petals and pollen. That fades to warm fragrant honey. The final dry down is a little woody, maybe papery but completely enjoyable beeswax smell. I wore this to a wedding about a month ago and someone commented that I smelled "like summer."

Tried this again today... In the opening, beautiful honey, like sweet syrup and light flowers. However, the honey fades into the wings of the stage and the flowers stand in the spotlight. This isn't necessarily a bad thing except the title of the scent suggests lots of honey... In the end, this is a very pretty, light, sweet, floral with some moderate longevity. It is with some guilt I say.... Kim Kardashian's Honey has this one beat, IMO...

This isn't a realistic beeswax scent, and it opens strong and chemically sweet, but after the first few minutes it mellows out into a powdery honey and nondescript floral scent that is still sweet, but fainter and less overtly synthetic than the top notes. it is a very friendly, comforting scent if you like powdery perfumes.

When Demeter gets it right, they have great things. This, unfortunately, is nothing like beeswax at all. I was so excited to find beeswax in a fragrance but this smells artificial, not like beeswax or honey or anything even close. Total disappointment.

Pure beeswax candles, handmade by Amish women, being sold at an outdoor craft market. On the breeze there is a hint of honeysuckle and clover. This is lovely, but in true Demeter fashion it's gone before you can say "Bob's your uncle".

This smelled very floral to me,like a lot of flowers on a spring day. This did not smell like beeswax to me,just a little beeswax in the background. This is a super-floral scent. They should have named this "Bees and Flowers."
