Beetroot

My partner bought this for me as a Christmas present. This morning (22 December), he forlornly said to me, "I got one of your gifts, but I think it needs to be returned because it smells off, like dirt." I sprayed it and immediately said, "No! It's great, it's supposed to be like that and I love it!" **** This isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm in heaven. There's an extremely fleeting citrus note, then dry, salty potting soil that gradually deepens into wet, lush earth. I don't get anything super-duper beetroot, but the damp, green, and earthy smells are all there. This is safe to spray on fabric and it has decent longevity (2+ hours) there provided you spray heavily. It's a Demeter, you know? I'm going to love layering this one, especially with LAP Musc Amarante, my original beetroot fragrance love.

Smells remarkably similar to Musc Amarant, but of course one is more than 5x more than the other. Very nice freshly painted house/dirt smell. Earthy and bitter and dirty and a bit sweet.

Smells exactly like a sweet wet beet that has just been harvested from rich soil saturated with rain. Realistic and evocative but it only lasts for like 3 minutes on my skin, though it does last longer on fabric.

dirt, but very nice garden dirt. I rather like it and will wear it again. also notes of something kind of salty and reminiscent of Play Doh. wears very light, a skin scent.

Amazing scent, very realistic. Beneath the beetroot note there's the soil, dirt, damp leaves, the field. Very late summer-autumny smell, pretty nostalgic

I tried a sample of Comms de Garcon’s “Rouge” which has a very strong beet opening which I loved for fall weather. Unfortunately the beet dissipates on Rouge pretty quickly and I’m left with only ginger, vanilla, and an amber musk. I decided to grab Demeter’s Beetroot hoping I would prefer single-note beet and could then blend it with other things if I like - lemon in the summer, ginger in the fall, etc. On a tester it’s extremely sweet and soapy with a hint of dirt. I said, “This is like if that Mrs. Meyers hand soap brand came out with a beet scent.” When worn it’s thankfully a bit less soapy and more of the “dirt” comes through - definitely a little more beet-like than it seems on the tester. It’s not perfect - it’s like they knew beets smell like dirt with a hint of sweetness and got the “dirt” note accurately but didn't quite capture the sweet note correctly. I’d still describe it more like a sweet beet-scented hand soap or candle than a real beet. But it’s close. I can’t say I’d be super excited to wear it by itself, but I’d be curious to layer it with something else like ginger.

duftduft - I want to smell like Beetroot! It takes me back to the days when I would grow them in the garden and the smell of them freshly pulled out from the ground. And the smell of them boiling in the pot, and when you skin them, and the taste of fresh beetroot which is amazing... Fragrance is a very personal thing. We all have different memories and associations that go with scent - that's what the Demeter concept is all about. It just depends whether you are brave enough to wear something that is this personal in public... (wearability).

This is the most photorealistic scent I have ever encountered thus far. And for it to be such a niche note they nailed it! You get a good 3 hours out of it. And works well as a topper for other earthy fragrances.

Beetroot?? Who wants to smell like Beetroot??? I have to comment this because it makes me laugh. Probably to layer with DEMETER BOILED EGG or DEMETER ONION. Could be "interesting"...
