Birthday Cake

I can see why some people would not like this, however this is exactly the type of scent I was looking for. If you're buying this hoping for a white/yellow cake note and a buttercream frosting, you would not like this. This is a cupcake note(light creamy vanilla frosting from the store)and a healthy dusting of powdered cocoa note. There's also a sprinkles note(slightly fruity/possibly floral sugar) that is very very strong. When you first spray it, there an initial blast of the cupcake, then it dries down to a creamy cocoa dusted vanilla with sugar sprinkles. The cocoa note in here is distinctly powdered cocoa, and I love that a lot. I do however recommend getting this in the oil format over the spray because the initial alcohol blast of the spray is a little off putting with the sugar note. I like this a lot because it actually smells like childhood to me, that soft creamy cocoa like swiss miss powdered hot chocolate, pink frosted cupcakes, and rainbow sugar sprinkles. and it has just enough complexity to be interesting.

I LOVE this scent. It really does smell like the name, and is fun for daytime. However, I will not buy it for myself until they improve both the longevity and the sillage.

REALLY want this one!! I wont be buying this for over $15 though unless they improve longevity. After about 15 sprays of Demeter fragrances I can only smell them for about 20 minutes and then I have to spray more on. Its not that I am use to it by then nobody else smells it either. Even when you put your nose to my skin! crappy longevity, crappy sillage, and crappy bottle design. EDIT: Bought this for $4 and really dont like it. it smells like chocolate spit at first, then its kinda nice, but I may be swapping this or something.

I want to love gourmands, but many of them are too strong and headache-inducing for me. Birthday Cake was a nice surprise, though, as I can actually tolerate it. I was also surprised that chocolate is such a prominent note - I guess this is because I prefer vanilla cake and always asked for vanilla as opposed to chocolate for my own birthdays growing up. The chocolate cake of this fragrance is pleasant, though, and it gives me a warm feeling. I’d probably prefer this scent as a candle, but I can totally see why some would wear this as a perfume.

This wasn’t quite what I was hoping for. Opens as a super sweet smell, but there's also a synthetic note that reminds me of scented markers. During the dry down I got something that reminds me of powdered hot cocoa. It's definitely very sweet, but I wanted the smell of a warm cake fresh from the oven. Instead, it feels a bit more like cake flavored candy or frosting with an artificial note

I bought this with high expectations, but I was mildly disappointed. To me, it doesn't smell anything like cake at all, let alone a birthday cake. It reminds me of something with honey, but I don't know what it is. It's very similar to Whipped Honey & Vanilla, from Bath & Body Works

Way too chocolatey, there is more chocolate than there is cake and it doesn’t even smell like a good chocolate it smells super artificial

this fragrance is so so so sickeningly sweet. theres a rubbery synthetic note in there?? it almost smells like a car accident where one of the cars had a birthday cake in the trunk that smashed onto the pavement. feels pretty accurate to how i feel about this fragrance. a birthday cake car wreck

I hated mine. Pretty sure it's because I got an old bottle. LIKE OLD. Kinda smelled like frosted fireflies. Do you know that smell when you catch fireflies and they secrete that defensive chemical to deter predators? Yea, that covered in frosting.

Earnestly repulsive play-do. I hated this so much I had to take the test strip to my outside bin to get it out of the house completely. Like a birthday themed horror movie, the new plastic toys all melted together. A deranged killer doll might wear this, though it would make it easier to escape as you'd smell them coming a mile away. So bad I'll hang on to the tester, it almost horseshoes around to an art piece.

Fragrance Review For Birthday Cake Demeter Notes: Whipped Cream Cupcake Chocolate Sweet Notes Floral Notes A pure gourmand scent of a bakery, or to be more specific the birth day cakes that sell in Mexican stores "Pastel De Tres Leches" (Three Milks Cake" the kind of big showy colorful wedding cakes or children's birthday party cakes adorned with little figurines of Disney princesses, castles, cartoon characters and the like, cakes that have a lot of frosting in rainbow colors of pink, blue, yellow, red, green, orange, and layers of icing, sugar, chocolate, vanilla, and fruit notes of strawberry and banana. This immediately took me to a cake store. Every synthetic note here is dead on. The whipped cream smells like whipped cream when you squeeze it out of the container, the chocolate is dark chocolate and the cupcake is the cupcake in Britney Spears Fantasy. In fact if you're into BS Fantasy this is an interesting alternative. It's essentially the same kind of scent except the white chocolate is dark chocolate and there is no vanilla. There's sweet notes, fruit notes, sugar and sweetness to induce a headache - if you overspray. I spray this lightly on my blouse and when I have a kids party to go to as the only single non married no baby lady I can attract the kids to me like bees to honey. This is not my usual type of fragrance but it's sweet. Age wise this is for children but it's also for the child inside of the adult.

I guess I was searching for that scent of a birthday itself, rather than just the cake. Demeter pretty much smells like what is written on the bottle. My birthday cakes are usually vanilla with strawberry or chocolate icing. This cake is chocolate with caramel flavoured cream. The scent is not bad, perhaps a little sickeningly sweet when you first apply, but when it softens, the scent is pleasing. I actually wanted a scent of waxy candles and the scent of sugared smoke to complete my birthday wish. Unfortunately Demeter's Birthday Cake is all about chocolate cake and not much else. It can be a little coconutty at times which throws me off the chocolate track for awhile, however it doesn't last long. The scent doesn't last either, but I must point out that it is in cologne concentration anyway.

it really bothers me to read negative reviews on demeters fragrances, enough! stop it! you knew wtf you were getting for the price you pay. its like buying a spirit airline ticket and expect to be sitting in Emirates First Class with lie-flat seats. lol. its demeters, they have cute names, and promising scents. but they catfish. live and learn. oh and stop moaning about "omg what a fail" because you bought it, the perfume isn’t a fail. i wonder who it is.

I used to own this, and tried to love it, but ultimately couldn't stand it. I wonder what ever became of the bottle? It smelled like a birthday cake, mostly, which should have been lovely. But...it had a very distinct Sprinkles note, which bothered me. I don't know how to explain it, but it was like wearing rainbow sprinkles. Loud, too sweet, and sort of...frantic. Like a bunch of little kids hopped up on sugar.

-)) 21/06/2018 : Bit of a blind buy, which has turned out to be a fail. This is the kind that will knock you off your feet - literally! It is very strong that it gives me a headache. It reminds me of a Krispy Kreme donut, but just far too strong for my liking. Very sweet, very sugary.

I love a fake asf birthday cake smell, but there is something so musty in here it smells like a public restroom 😭 like i sprayed it on my jacket and it just made me feel dirty after that

I guess it actually does smell like cake. But I wouldn't want to eat whatever cake this is.
