Caramel

This scent smells exactly like caramel tastes - I PROMISE! PLUS, and this is a big PLUS, it LASTS a LONG time on the skin! Which I love and hope they never change! Out of all the Demeters I have tried...this lasts and is the most perfect caramel scent. You get all the buttery, sugary, mouth watering goodness of biting into a caramel candy. I think if you love to wear these types of scents and you love caramel that you cannot go wrong with this perfume. I have the lotion and I don't pick up much scent in that. I would love to try the bath oil as a perfume. The scent in the perfume is wonderful though. I have it on now and it is making my mouth water. It would probably be lovely any time of year but now that Fall is here it makes me think of caramel apples and all things Autumnal. I would purchase this again as this is the most lasting scent I own in this fragrance category. Would love to try the Apple Pie! *My family (with the exception of my daughter that LOVES the same type scents that I do) doesn't understand why anyone would want to smell like food but, I don't need to be understood - just loved. :0) **UPDATE: I purchased the Demeter Caramel Bath/Body oil (15.00!) and it is FABULOUS! Please note that you will need to shake this bottle before each use as the oil blend tends to separate - shake up and down prior to use and you will be fine. The oil is full of scent and can be worn on pulse points as perfume. DELICIOUS! *this oil is a nice base for my CARA (Farmacia) perfume as well as many other scents like this that I own. So far my favorites in the Demeter Caramel collection are the spray fragrance and the oil.

Caramel, Crème Brulée, vanilla extract, maple syrup, melted butter... these are some notes I get with the first sprays. Once it starts drying down it gets creamier and I agree with Killson below that becomes "a soft jersey caramel," in the sillage especially. There's also maple syrup note that other reviewers have mentioned, and a burnt sugar note like the crispy top of crème brulée, as well as a faint salty note that evokes melt-y salted butter & salted caramel. The liquid has an orange-y amber colour & leaves an oily sheen on the skin. Lasts about 3 hours on the skin, but up to 12 hours on clothing/textiles. Up close on the skin I get something closer to Crème Brulée, but in the sillage I get the "soft jersey caramel." Overall this a fantastic caramel scent. Enjoy!

This is an inexpensive love these days ♡. I was fortunate enough to acquire it through a swap months ago, and am only discovering it now. I am a big caramel scent fan and this smells pretty much like caramel & maple syrup. Luckily I love both scents so this is awesome for me. I have the big bottle, which is great as the longevity is not the greatest, but I freely reapply. I wear it before bed and it makes me feel cozy. I think this is better suited in cooler weather. I can't imagine wanting to wear it on a hot night. Try it if you want a cheap maple syrup type scent.

Yes this does smell like caramel. It has a warm, comfortable aroma. The longer it stays on the skin it reminds me of my childhood and walking by the saltwater taffy store that made their own saltwater taffy. It is sweet by not cloying. I think it is lovely. To me there is not one percent of an artifical or synthetic smell. This is a true caramel fragrance.

Exactly what it says on the tin, a sweetly unmistakable caramel with some butterscotch and maple syrup mixed in. I am developing a habbit for wearing this in my bedroom, it's such an appetising fragrance that I love to have it sitting in the background.

It's sweet and warm and lovely. Smells like fudge or just pure caramel. I combine it with perfumes I have, it gives them the dark sweetness that I miss with some of them. Try this with Hidden Fantasy for example, makes it smell very nice!

Smells just like the caramel syrup drizzled you’d find drizzled over an ice cream sundae or Frappuccino. Not a ton of longevity, but the value is great so it’s hard to complain. I layer mine over Imaginary Authors’ Whiff of Wafflecone.

♡ this fragrance,but it does not really smell like caramel to me, on me it smells like butter pecan ice cream! Which is yummy so I don't mind.Very warm and lovely, perfect for a nice day in autumn and spring...winter too.

Demeter's take on Caramel is more butterscotch than caramel. It is a buttery caramel for sure. It is very very sweet. I actually like, and it seems to last quite a while for a demeter fragrance.

I agree with boardbat's review, "this is sweet and sticky burnt sugar caramel. you have to be in the right mood to wear this. i could never wear this everyday." I'm into gourmands and fruits, but something about it is a bit off. It smells fantastic, just like caramel as it should, when I sniff the cap or a spray onto paper... but on my skin, it seems to take a funny, dark, bitter/sour note, like burnt caramel, cooked for too long. I can still smell it wafting from my wrist, so staying power is decent so far. It just doesn't seem to work as well with me as other fragrances.

I have another Demeter so I knew what to expect. These are single note, simple but very realistic scents that often benefit from some layering. The caramel is a bit more on the burnt or sharp side than creamy. I've layered it with Philosophy's Fresh Cream. That ramps it up to a creamy caramel dessert. It also goes well with vanilla centered fragrances. I don't find it something I can wear on it's own. This one really does need to be a layering scent but it adds a delicious caramel note to several other perfumes that you want to sweeten up.

From reading the reviews, Demeter's Caramel is absolutely in the nose of the beholder! I was REALLY hoping for a true caramel scent, so I could add it to my Prada Candy, which is a musk-monster on me with almost NO caramel. Sadly, this will just not cut it - because I belong to the Maple Syrup camp on this one. It smells like it in the bottle and on me - straight up fresh Vermont Maple Syrup! If that's what you're after, it is fabulous - but I'm still looking for an authentic caramel.

This one is straight up caramel. Super sweet and a bit much on its own. I personally struggle to wear it solo, though it would probably suit women more naturally. Where it really shines is when it’s paired with Fresh Brewed Coffee, also from Demeter. That combo gives off a caramel latte kind of vibe, with a nice balance between sweetness and a slight bitterness. Ratings: 4.8/10 on its own 6.9/10 when layered

Smells like butterscotch ice cream. Very realistic. I guess caramel and butterscotch definitely overlap. Makes me think of being a kid, and going to the drugstore with my mum, and getting a butterscotch sundae. Good vibes, definitely. Quite a yummy pick-me-up, as they say. Great as a scent memory, or maybe could be layered with other gourmand scents. Fun one.

In the bottle, it smells just like caramel. Applied to skin, it turns a bit. The resulting scent - while not unpleasant - is definitely richer than expected. After a few hours, it is somewhere between maple syrup (freshly tapped) and butterscotch. I love this worn with Trick or Treat 2009 from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab.

I have the perfume oil version of this and it is surprisingly delicious. The opening smells very much like a caramel topping for ice cream. The longevity isn't great (even with the oil version) but you can get a soft jersey caramel type scent from it for a few hours. A bit of fun, but mainly a layering option

It smells exactly like slightly burnt caramel. If you love caramel, then you would love this. Perfect for layering. P.S. I layered it with the Blueberry fragrance from Demeter Fragrances, which happens to smell like blueberry muffins on its own, and it creates a very unique and mouthwatering smell!

i got this as a free gift with purchase and it smells like exactly what it's supposed to. it's a little bit sickeningly sweet but i love gourmand fragrances so i don't mind. it smells kinda like salted caramel ice cream (probably won't wear this though)

Straight up caramel syrup. Love layering this with prada candy or adding this to any fragrance with caramel since it gives it a boost. Not meant to really wear on its own as it may make some gag from how strongly syrupy sweet it is.

I layer Idôle Nectar with this to bring out its caramel note (or create it, it’s so subtle) with fantastic results. Together they are match made in heaven!

This smells so yummy! I sprayed it in the cap to show my boyfriend and my dog jumped up and tried to eat it! Gorgeous caramel scent.

Pure butterscotch, there’s no way I would wear this so I decided to use it as a sweet smelling car air freshener instead.

I just received a sample of Demeter’s Caramel, and honestly, I'm quite disappointed. Upon the initial spray, it does smell like sweet caramel syrup. However, as it dries down, it transforms into a sweet, warm, woodsy maple syrup kind of scent, which is still very pleasant, but the aroma is VERY faint. Even though I drenched my wrist in it, I still have to press my nose right against my skin to catch a whiff of it :/ After two hours the woodsy aroma becomes more intense and develops a smokiness to it, reminiscent of a campfire. Occasionally, I still get a hint of the caramel note, but it disappears in an instant, leaving me wondering if I ever truly smelled it at all. While there’s no noticeable alcohol smell on my skin, I've detected it on my clothes. Once the alcohol smell fades away, the woodsy maple syrup scent remains, but it completely vanishes from the fabric after 15 minutes. I plan to purchase the full bottle and let it rest for a month or so to see if the fragrance becomes any stronger as I really wanted a pure caramel perfume for layering. EDIT: Alright since I've got the full bottle now, I'm excited to provide a two-week update. It's rather weird but the perfume differs noticeably from the sample, even though both were acquired from the same supplier. It unmistakably smells just like nivea cream for the first few minutes after spraying. However, gradually that smell disappears and the sweet caramel note emerges. The smoky bonfire and maple syrup notes that I noticed in the sample, are not present. The smell is still very faint, but it layers well with Al-Rehabs choco musk

I tested CARAMEL and BUTTERSCOTCH side by side, opposite wrists. CARAMEL is deeper and has less butter and more browned sugar (almost burnt but not quite). BUTTERSCOTCH is close but has more butter and a weird plastic wrapper type note that I didn't notice until comparing them. BUTTERSCOTCH lasts longer/performs better and upon full dry down they smell almost identical. I just prefer the opening of CARAMEL more. They are both nice to layer with FRESHLY BREWED COFFEE. Both are unisex and easy to layer with anything.

It's almost accurate, it's missing the smoothness an actual carmel possess and it has an overly sweet, tart coffee and vanilla bean notes, slightly synthetic but not headache inducing type, okay sillage like other demeters, unisex if layered, feminine leaning if worn alone (don't do that witht the spray version). Lasts 2 hrs on skin, 4 hrs on cloths. Not recommended.

Got the roll on oil as a free sample. It's accurate, smells exactly like caramel drizzle! It's just not really my thing-- if you're not a total lover of sweet, super gourmand scents, this probably won't be yours either.

I use this as a room spray. It does not have the longevity to be anything else.

Should be renamed Butterscotch

Just got this one today - blind buy and a tad disappointed. I don't smell any caramel more of a burnt brown sugar maple smell like I hugged a good ol' Canadian maple tree and turned on the syrup tap. Reminds me too much of my 4 yr old after he's lost a battle with pancakes! Going to have to let this one go. Update: ok so I had to try it on my skin....my 12 yr old told me I smelled like a Little Elvis maple & bacon doughnut from Tim Hortons lol

When I first got this perfume, it was so, SO nice. It was pure caramel, so sweet and cozy! I used to spray it in my room because I loved it so much. But, after a few weeks, I got tired of it. Like, so tired. I still have quite a bit left in the bottle, but I cannot stand it anymore! It’s sickening! This is coming from someone who loves Pink Sugar- take that as you will. Yuck!

The idea of owning this seemed cool. Until I did. I wore it, and was waiting for bees to bite me. It also felt as if I had spilled a caramel frappucino on myself because the caramel is overwhelming. Such a weird perfume; I was almost waiting for a caramel fan to lick my wrist. I just didn't like it since it's caramel on your skin - nothing else, nothing more.

It’s definitely not as delicious as I thought it’d be , the opening was exciting since I could smell the caramel but then it started turning into burnt caramel and then you’re left with a burnt plastic smell on your skin , I wouldn’t recommend and have no idea what to use it for

I LOVE IT!! If sweet, sugary fragrances are your cup of tea, you won't be disappointed in Demeter Caramel. It reminds me of caramel and maple syrup. Given that it's a cologne and not an EDT or an EDP, I was pleasantly surprised by its strength and lasting power. Still, for extra oomph, I give the clothes that I'm wearing that day a good spray, too. I purchase it online at Scented Monkey, $13.53 for 4 oz., and free UPS shipping ( the best deal around for Demeter fragrances ... and they offer a pretty good selection ). DON'T purchase directly from Demeter. At $40.00 for 4 oz., they're highway robbery ... and their customer service stinks. I e-mailed them 3 times re: the same issue and never received an answer.

Sweet caramel gourmand fragrance. It's not always easy to wear because it's like butterscotch candy or more like having sticky fingers with caramel goo after eating those butterscotch candies. I find it very sweet and delicious but people always think I've just had caramel candy. It's a party scent so if you wear it a at a children's birthday party, or at a picnic, anywhere there's food, this scent goes unnoticed! It's a gourmand lover's delight. I love gourmand scents. So if you like caramel, butterscotch and something like a caramelized amber this really hits the spot.

Smells just like butterscotch especially those butterscotch flavoured candy canes during Christmas time. Good projection snd sillage. Lasts about 5 hours but I don’t mind since it’s very inexpensive and I can carry it in my purse. It’s good for layering if you want to sweeten things up. Good to layer with ouds, dark rose scents, heavy woody scents, tobacco scents, and even vanilla scents if you want to take it up a notch. It’s fun to wear alone but I prefer to layer. Caramel is just at the opening and last probably a few seconds (whiff) then it turns into butterscotch which I like but not love. I agree the drydown is similar to maple syrup, at least on my skin; so as a final verdict I wouldn't call this caramel, butterscotch or toffy would be a lot more suitable. Warning: I experienced a respiratory reaction to this fragrance, my throat was a bit swollen and sensitive even when I was taken my medication.

This is perfect for layering omg. It lasts long and projects as well. It's very strong too. When I first sprayed it, I did get that maple syrup scent, but it quickly disappears & the true caramel smell comes out. I first applied it & then layered it with VS Bare Vanilla and omg, it smells so delicious. It will definitely be a staple when I want to smell edible.

Very straightforward. It really is caramel, I sniffed my bottle and somehow wanted to drink the stuff haha I guess it smells so edible it makes you want to drink it up. I'd want to describe the perfume but if you know what caramel smells like, this is it. Sticks close to skin. Sweet and had I been hungry when I first sniffed this my mouth would probably water.

People buying a scent called 'Caramel' and then being surprised that it smells strongly of Caramel lol. What exactly were you expecting? Anyway, being a big caramel lover, both as a note in a fragrance and the taste, this really is just pure caramel. It's nice and yummy smelling. I've been told that I smell like baked goods. Love it.

Been waiting for this one blind bought. Surprisingly like Maple syrup. I didn't quite understand what people meant by sticky but if you smell it you'd understand. Recommend as a one note gourmand. I picture a big fancy brunch when I smell this. Recommend as a good replacement for a gourmand.

This is extremely sweet. It smells like a candy shop. It reminds me of walking into a candy store at The Cape. Like when you walk in and can smell the fudge cooling. This smells more like penuche fudge than caramel. But,it's a fun scent.

To me, this scent smells entirely like hazelnut. I love a caramel scent, but this wasn't it for me. I like hazelnut, but it's not caramel.

Maple syrup-I hate this and cannot even use it as a room spray because it has a not so nice lingering scent.

Sickenly sweet. Best for layering.
