Chocolate Covered Cherries

I didn’t expect to like this as much as I do, but I love it! I usually don’t care for cherry scents (sorry), but this blends the sweetness of the chocolate with the tartness of the cherries so perfectly, plus the cognac just ties it all together and adds a layer of sophistication that I’m obsessed with. This isn’t quite linear like most Demeter scents are, as it dries the cherry starts fading a little and the chocolate takes over for a little while, then the cherries take over again, then they go back to being blended together perfectly to my nose and I can’t stop smelling my hand to see which one will win... this might be in my top 5 favorite scents ever maybe I just got a great batch or really like chocolate scents or something 😭

A dark, dry chocolate. Not overly sweet. The cherry is more subtle- a kirsch liqueur as opposed to a maraschino. This has surprising depth and more than a little sex appeal. An unexpected gem from Demeter

This is the only scent I've used until the bottle was near empty and still couldn't decide if I liked it or not. I think it was more of me really wanting to like it, just because it tickled me to think I could smell like a box of chocolate covered cherries. It had this burnt cocoa smell that put me off and though I would sometimes get comments when I wore it they were neither flattering or unflattering. People would just sniff, look around confused and say things like "Is that chocolate? what is that smell?" OK - so I guess the comments I received were leaning towards unflattering end. I used it as a closet spray towards the end to perfume my jackets but in the end I tossed this bottle while doing a spring cleaning. After months of wearing it off and on and I still can't decide if I like it, it's safe to say I can toss it.

well I bought this and I have to say that I am very disappointed! I love the smell of chocolate very much, as do I love the smell of cognac or any liquors in a perfume. There is a distinct dirt smell to me in this?????? i know weird right? and the middle notes of the cherries I smell sourness, wich I hate:( but thats what i get at first, it then does dry down to a very chocolate smell witch does last ALL day long, it does have good staying power, got say that! I don't even really smell the cognac because this fragrance is not sweet at all, and I wear Queen by Queen Latifah, and that is a frag that you can smell the cognac sweetness. Over all Im sad i was so disappointed by this, because it sounded so good. Good thing I have a 9 yr old niece to give it to!

I do think that this smells just like a chocolate covered cherry, and unlike others in these reviews, i like the addition of the cognac note. I think it balances the artificial scent of the chocolate. The cherry note is clear and doesnt go away in a short amount of time. The only downside is that it smells exactly like a chocolate covered cherry (which is what its meant to be) and not like a chocolate covered cherry inspired perfume, which some people may expect when buying this. If you wear this, you will smell like food.

🍒 Ive been wearing it almost everyday for 2 weeks. It smells like chocolate frosting. Either Pillsbury Milk chocolate frosting or chocolate fudge frosting (im not sure which one I usually buy at ralphs (Im American)). One time I smelled a cherry note for 5 seconds. I often pair this with Kayali Chocolate Oud.

It smells like the chocolate-covered red fruit dragees served with Turkish coffee. In almost every coffee shop in Turkey, when you drink Turkish coffee, you are served one of these dragees or Turkish delight with your coffee.

I had this in high school. It was very true to its namesake. I personally got tired of wearing it (it just seemed too weird for me to smell like it), but anyone who is a chocolate cherry fanatic will love this IMO.

This really smells like chocolate, and the cherry is detectable. Though there's something about it I don't really like. I think it's the cognac note. It's not long lasting, though, it's fun and unique.

For any Hungarians out there, this smells exactly like belga csokis-meggyes párna (Belgian chocolate-sour cherry-filled buns)!! I really liked it for winter and for red and black outfits :)

There is something odd about this scent. You can smell the cherries, and you can smell the chocolate, but they both seem to clash. It's almost like the chocolate is the core of the scent, and the cherry is an acidic mess that lingers in the background but punches you in the nose if you get too close. I can see what people mean when they say that this has a vomit scent to it. I think it's because it smells like food, with an unnatural acidity to it, basically what vomit is. Frankly, this scent just wasn't well thought out. I really wish the chocolate was darker and more complex. I wish the cherry was a smoother less artificial scent. Cherry and chocolate in theory should work well together, but it's the wrong chocolate and the wrong cherry.

This smells like a chocolate covered cherry scratch n sniff sticker that I had back in the 80’s which isn’t bad, however, there’s also an off putting note in this that to me smells reminiscent of wet dog fur.

Well well, I was realy looking forward to this fragrance!! I have never been so dissapointed with a scent before?? LOL, ITS VILE VILE VILE, HOW ANYONE COULD WALK AROUND SMELLING LIKE THIS IS BEYOND ME!! It made me feel nauseated the first time I sprayed it, infact it made me feel like spewing allday, gave me a migrane an all!! my husband said it smelt all burnt?, anyway that will teach me for not trying before buying! a waste of 20quiders :(, seriously this honestly smelt like soapy/sour/out of date cherries, and a vile type of choclate, even when it settled on the skin it smelt like vomit :( I dont think im going to buy anymore of these brands, they smell so cheap to, and yet quite pricey!! I feel sick even writing this review, yuk yuk yuk!!!!

The initial hit is cherry-scented candles and very slightly bitter/scorched chocolate. After half an hour it's all chocolate, or rather "chocolate"—there's a definite thing going on that's artificial and unpleasant. It smells like a burnt Hershey bar in motor oil. I can sort of get what they were going for, but on my skin this is just unpleasant. It's still pretty strong two hours later, unfortunately. After three hours the burnt smell is gone and it just smells like rather artificial chocolate.

Two of my all time favourite fragrance notes are cherry and chocolate. I even posted in the forum asking for suggestions to help me in my cherry/chocolate/leather/vanilla dream quest. I HATE this. It smells musty and kind of dirty. For a moment I wondered if the bottle had been mislabelled, but no. The chocolate and cherry notes are there. But something about the choc note is off, and the cherry doesn't shine through enough for my liking. A shame, since I own and love a lot of Demeter scents.

Smells like vomit, luckily I decided to buy the sample size(1 ml), really dodged the bullet here. I would not recommend it to people I love. This is the kind of thing you want to give to someone you really hate, with a card saying "I think of you every time I smell this perfume<3"

It definitely has the cherry chocolate scent — this being its own redeeming quality. But the Cognac really throws it off. It’s like chocolate covered cherry meets the fermented fungal smell of beer or kombucha. It’s certainly an interesting scent but one I would never buy again.

I did not know what to expect from this fragrance, but on my skin it smells very bitter and sour. I can faintly smell the cherries, but for me it mainly smells like burnt chocolate. Unfortunately not one I would get a full size bottle of, glad I could sample this 😅

Screechy, cloying, and synthetic. Had a plastic quality that doesn’t smell quite right. Demeter has some really convincingly real scents and, in my opinion, this is not one of them. Bad performance, too.

This is FABULOUS! Yes, it smells like the cheap chocolate covered cherries that are sold in the drugstores during Valentines a Day and Christmas but that's the fun of it! It's actually supposed to! And if we're all honest that's the only way the majority of us have snelled chocolate covered cherries... It is a fun, photorealistic scent of the very flirty and girly, cute candy we've grown to love. With Demeter fragrances you either find a true gem or you are left with those versions that don't smell like the thing its supposed to represent with a really foul bitter chemical smell - it's almost a given. So when you find a good one you take note! The Chocolate Covered Cherries is a good one thst smells like the real thing with ZERO sour chemical smell (underlying smell). This is great! If you like to poke fun at those kitschy little chocolates that are always on sale during certain holidays, this ones for you! Such a fun girlie scent- reminds me of Valentines!
