Christmas Bouquet

The accords for this are very incorrect, and it's leading people to write off this perfume as awful when it's simply not appealing to the right crowd. It's lovely and absolutely nothing like what you'd expect from the name and notes. It's a creamy, spicy, lactonic, peppery, almost gourmand fragrance, but it's not cloyingly sweet. Then it dries down into something a little more dry and earthy and spicy, it somehow is both lactonic and dry in this stage. It really is quite lovely. I got a massive 120mL bottle of this as a free gift with purchase from Demeter and I was ready to declutter it, and had to check the label twice when I actually sprayed it on. This desperately needs a rename and rebranding, it would really appeal to the right crowd. To me it's a more grown up and more subtle Curve Crush, which I also really love. It's a nice and girly chai latte kind of scent.

This is an odd one-it isn't a spicy carnation at all but instead a rather creamy one.It has so-so lasting power but I love it as it is very light and doesn't give me a headache.

Oh my! This one truly surprised me! It is advertised as a green, spicy, carnation floral, so I had high hopes for my precious sample as I love those notes, especially carnation. But trust me! I tested this twice! There is NONE of that in this fragrance. On my skin, the opening smells of soured milk!! with a fleeting whiff of coconut. The soured milk with coconut is soon joined by a dash of cold, dirty dish water and a nasty touch of green... like slimy old water in a flower vase. But there is good news... this noxious scent almost totally disappears the moment a faint scent of licorice whizzes by... and on my skin, that all happens in about 6 minutes! This fragrance is truly amazing because it goes from Gross to Gone in 6 minutes flat! I am sorely disappointed as I had such high hopes and could hardly wait to get the sample and try it! So grateful I resisted the temptation to by a full bottle at the very affordable price!

I have to agree with Kiku. What a disappointment! I was expecting carnations, but all I got was a heavy dose of coconut and, I think, chocolate. After it faded a bit, I could detect a faint trace of carnations, if I inhaled really, really deeply. Mostly, after the coconut and chocolate faded, I detected something akin to licorice. The overall effect was very heavy and waxy, like a cheap scented candle. The scent does kind of remind me of the mullberry scented candles my mother used to light at Christmas time. Only the candle scent was more pleasant than this perfume. If this had been the first Demeter fragrance I ever tried, I think I would have given up on the whole line. Fortunately, there are other Demeter scents I really like. I wouldn't say this one is not worth trying. Just don't expect it to smell anything like it was advertised.

This was a blind buy. I love Christmas scents. The ads for "Christmas Bouquet" show carnations, one of my favorite notes. I HAD to have it! What a disappointment. There is nothing reminiscent of Christmas here. It's not green, spicy, or floral. All I smell is coconut: like warm, sweet, creamy, coconut oozing out of a gooey dessert. This would be great for high summer or a vacation in a tropical place. This is so UN-Christmas I have to wonder if Demeter recycled an old fragrance. If you love coconut, buy it. But if you're expecting Christmas, forget it.
