CHRISTMAS HOUSE PARTY ROOM SPRAY If you're having a Christmas party spray the whole house with this fragrance. This is a gourmand fragrance but it has such a powerful syrupy sweetness that cannot possibly be worn as a perfume on your skin. I enjoy it a lot but prefer to smell it in the air. It's a Christmas house party every time I smell it. It's sweet and spicy with cinnamon, nutmeg, the milk in eggnog with rum, Marron glace and caramel apple. This is a well done gourmand scent but for me this is where gourmand fragrances belong: in the air as you walk under it. It's beautiful and I love it but only take this baby out on Christmas Eve. I have also brought it with me to spray it on other people's homes for their Xmas parties. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good fragrance

Honestly, I love this! If you are a fan of Christmas scents generally (it is very similar to BBW's 'Tis the Season candle) then this will probably be up your alley. It smells like warmth, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla and maybe slightly applely. It's not the most mature fragrance but then again, I usually gravitate towards the sweeter scents anyways :D

i love it SO much. and i love wearing it around people who absolutely hate it (and there are a lot of such people). it smells so different for everyone, to me it smells like curry sometimes, and sometimes like gummy bears, some said it smells like coffee (probably cause of the cinnamon). definitely one of my favourites, will purchase again.

gourmand with mainly sweet chestnuts, nutmeg and a hint of apple; perfect fall fragrance; much stronger and longer lasting than most Demeters, similar to an EDT; the spices and sweetness linger. I love it and am not a huge gourmand fan. Just so comforting. Get ready for the holidays!

Agree 100% with the person below me saying it smells like a cheap Christmas candle- but God, I love it. My mom sold Yankee candles when I was a kid and I spent unholy amounts of time surrounded by candles- this smells exactly like a specific Yankee candle and I can't recall which one. Drives me crazy... It's great though, if that works for you. A thick, almost cloying maple-syrup type smell with the Marron glace + creaminess of the milk. And holy cow, it lasts forever. This is my first Demeter scent and I've heard they struggle with projection and longitude. This one does not.

It lasts longer than other Demeter fragrances. I personally like it, but I don't think this is really meant to be worn. I agree with abirae - it's very reminiscent of a Yankee Candle scent, strong and artificial feeling. Fitting for a room spray. I don't smell what the scent has to do with New York - I get spicy apple, cinnamon, and a backing of nuttiness. The other scents fade over time and you end up getting a sweet nuttiness. It's a very nice holiday comfort scent.

I received this as a gift with another Demeter fragrance. I don't love it, that is, it's just kind of...eh. I will say it does smell like Christmas, but it's not something I would reach for immediately. I get a lot of apple and cinnamon in mine, which normally I would love, but then I think the it's the rum that comes through and thoroughly spoils it for me.

Aha! I knew I'd find a dupe for whatever it was that used to be in the back of my drawer so many MANY years ago. Fruitcake in a bottle! (and yes the GOOD kind of fruitcake and there is such a thing). Too bad all the Demeter scents disappear in such a hurry but at least it has a big personality for a little while. Fun stuff. Makes me smile.

I find that this, combined with Demeter's Fraser Fir, creates a perfect winter fragrance! Really puts me in the holiday spirit. :) The fir scent adds some freshness and keeps the Christmas in New York from being too sickeningly sweet.

Ok updated review now that I’ve been wearing it around and playing with layering. This perfume is so gnarly 😅💀 ok ok like here’s the thing, I DO like it! But it’s strong AF...this formula needs to be deluded down a lot, it’s way too intense! My other beef with it is there’s some notes it claims to have that I do not get at all sadly. Eggnog? zero (really was looking forward to that accord), spices? YES, rum? No. Apples? Yes! Chestnut? YESSSSS, basically this is a CHESTNUT AF spicy apple perfume. Which still makes me happy and gives me the warm festive vibes I wanted, but Jesus Christ it’s the nuttiest strongest perfume I’ve ever smelled. So: The way that I have made it work for me is by spraying on either my Billie Eilish perfume (the original), or my Naughty Nonna perfume and then dabbing on the teeeeniest tiniest little TINK of Christmas in New York and THAT makes it smell amazingggg 😍🤤 with naughty nonna it brings a nuttiness the the already sort of nutty spicy fruity fruit cake feel and it’s good, but layered carefully with the Billie eilish is my favorite! That combo is like a caramelly-vanilla spiced custard and is so delicious and perfect and not too strong. So this little sample I got will last for a longgg ass time cause I can only put a tiny pin prick sized dab of it on at a time.

A bit of a disclaimer: fragrance is a deeply personal and subjective art form. When I wear anything by Demeter fragrance library I spray only twice and then apply more later once determining if I want a stronger scent bubble. This is the method I take regardless of scent from their brand. I mention this because if you spray too much all at once you could gag a dolphin. This is not to degrade the fragrance itself but moreso a warning to a first time user. The opening of this fragrance comes out swinging with the rum and spices. It hits your palate and settles in the back of your throat like a spiced brown liquor would. The cinnamon is not nearly as heavy as I originally anticipated which is not altogether a bad thing. Cinnamon can be really overwhelming to a gourmand such as this. The glazed hazelnut is very much the star of this show and gives a syrupy quality to the scent. The dry down becomes a lot prettier as the lactonic element comes into play. All to say, this is not a bad winter scent as it does dry down to something delectably hazelnut. This is absolutely a winter or brisk fall scent. Attempting to wear this in the summer is something I mentally akin to the Anchorman's "milk was a bad choice" scene.

I do like this actually, it’s not what I expected; sadly I don’t get any eggnog on me at all, but it is the nuttiest perfume I’ve ever smelled! Very chestnut! The other element I smell is very obvious cinnamon baked apple. I like it, but holy shit it’s STRONG AF, I made the mistake of spraying a close range spritz right on my wrist and it’s sooo intense! Next time I’m gonna do a very gentle mist in the air and either walk thru it or carefully wave just my arm thru it. Disappointed about the lack of eggnog But overall it does give that warm cozy gourmand holiday vibe so I’m happy with it.

This smells like caramel corn. Plain & simple. That is EXACTLY what it smells like. I am getting no other notes whatsoever from this. Nothing even close to the description. Unfortunately I didn't look this one up before buying it (and of course they won't pay return shipping even though they "100% guarantee" their fragrances). Yuck, yuck, yuck... I get absolutely zero spice, NO apple whatsoever.... just straight buttery caramel corn smell. It's really awful :(

I sampled this a while back and did not like it. It smells like strange ribbon candy. Also this companies products are hit or miss. I used to love their White Bouquet, I went through a bottle then ordered another one. The second bottle smelled like bug spray. I don't think it was me that chanced. I did not have an illness etc... that would change my sense of smell. So I left this brand for good, I buy mostly natural botanical fragrances now.

Eegads, this smells exactly like a cheap, suffocating candle, even down to the waxiness. It's a heavy scent, you couldn't cut through it with a knife. I guess if you're specifically nostalgic for those big Home Inspiration candles people fumigate their homes with each year, this can be the one for you.

I agree, it's a B&BW scent. Not something I'd have picked out for myself, a vanilla praline type of scent that would be nice as a holiday room spray.

Smells like a cheap Christmas-themed candle you'd find at TJMaxx, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but this idea should have stayed as a candle.

Yuck. Sweet caramel/spice/butter/condensed milk/Yankee Candle scent with INCREDIBLE silliage. It also has phenomenal lasting power.

Oh the regret! Sprayed this away from myself onto a tester strip and it filled the room and choked me out in seconds! It's like it touched the air and instantly turned to powder. It hit the back of my throat and gave me a coughing fit! It genuinely tainted everything it came into contact with, I couldn't get away from it and unusually for Demeter, it lasted forever so only doing some washing up got it off my fingertips. This is just how I feel and I don't mean to offend anyone but honestly! The creepiest perfume I've come across, it really freaked me out. Hyper sweet and cloying, oddly suffocating, just thick and inescapable. I hope NY doesn't actually smell like this at Christmas, for the sake of those who live there lol! Just..... No! luckily it only cost me £11 and on the bright side, I no longer want to try the other sweet Demeter Perfumes I was looking at! I've had maybe 10 scents from the Library of Fragrance and the only one I like is Baby Powder, so I'll stick to that one and take the other ones off my wish list!

I personally am very sensitive to artificial scents, so if you have a nose that isn't extremely sensitive like mine, take that into account. However, in my opinion, this scent was truly horrible. It smells like your entire body was made into one of those disgusting artificial pastry-scented Yankee Candles. Very artificial spiced baked goods scent. Really strongly dislike. I love Demeter, but this was seriously disappointing. As a New Yorker, this is somewhat offensive (joking, sorta).

The worst perfume I've ever tried. It smells like a perfume that went bad, like a really bitter liquorice. I've tried to like it but it's also really long lasting and it makes me throw up everytime I smell it.

When I placed my order the square bottle was pictured but what I got was the cylinder type bottle, so for all I know there may have been a reformulation. It begins smelling like a candy concession stand at a fair, with a hint of apple. I have vintage CdG EdP, which does smell like a candle to me, but this does not (perhaps I haven't smelled enough candles to say, though). It's a bit rough at first, so give it 10 to 20 minutes, and then it has a bit of a powdery texture (just slightly), but more syrupy. On the Parfumo site, the notes are listed as, "Apple, Egg-nog, Roasted chestnut, Spices." I can understand the egg-nog (to me it's more like butter), but I don't get much in the way of chestnuts, even though I do eat chestnuts, so that's a bit disappointing (and it's not that I wanted a massive chestnut note here). The claims that it is curry-ish make sense, but I use curry spice quite a bit and the difference is obvious - again, this is more buttery to me than anything else. And I suggest not smelling it up close on the skin, or else it will likely be cloying. It's quite strong so you don't have to worry about "the usual Demeter problem." The great news here is that if this is your sort of thing, you get more and it costs you a lot less than the companies selling "niche" gourmand scents! At best this is a Christmas gourmand scent, and is not related to pine, fir, or any wood-oriented note. I like the idea of layering this with a something like a simple wood scent (as another reviewer mentioned doing), so if I do that I'll report back and update this review. If you want to create a chestnut scent, I'll mention that I've put some chestnut shells and a small amount of the "meat" into creme de cacao. That sits for a few weeks and stir it or shake it once in a while. I'm not sure whether it could work as a fragrance but it has worked well in muffins (I just do the simple microwave mug type these days). It will be sticky, so keep that in mind.

This was supposed to be all my favorite notes – cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, rum, general Christmasy-ness. And when I first tried it in the store, I loved it. So I bought it, after walking around with it on my wrist for a few hours and deciding in favor of it. I wore it for a few days after purchase, and then something happened. From this warm, sweet, holiday fragrance it suddenly turned into a horribly nauseating concoction – that first note of candied apples was enough to ruin pretty much the whole day. On top of that, Christmas in New York happens to be one of the few Demeter fragrances that actually last. So for somebody whose nose doesn't have this abrupt change of heart as mine did for some reason, this might actually be one of the better purchases from the Demeter line. On my part, I am quite upset that for me this scent turned from the perfect Christmas into the perfect nausea.

Very surprising. Notes can be quite deceiving, it honestly smells like banana split in the opening and then in the dry down you just get a sweet caramel popcorn. Very very gourmand. Longevity is around 6-7 hours and projection is extremely strong considering the price. Overall I would give it an 9/10 and if you are looking for something more unique I would definitely recommend.

To me it was a very unsuccessful blind buy, l thought l am going to love it but l don't. I has a way to much of nutmeg in it and it's really strong that gives me headache and it last forever unlike the other demeter fragrances As someone mentioned it before it reminds me of a curry scent Don't blind buy it unless you really like the strong nutmug scent

Got one this morning . Sugary cristalized chestnut almost caramelised. I do not smell the Apple and it s better like this . A touch of rhum...that gives to the whole thing an ambery tone. Perfect for Xmas of course but also very nice at fall ...autumn in New York maybe , when the leaves turn orange and red .

This is a really nice smell, though I haven't smelled it many times. It's nice, but I wouldn't buy it. Someone I know creates perfume/room spray smells, I prefer her Christmas smell than any ones I can get in stores!

This is exactly what the notes say..milky, cinnamon, nutty and delicious. I love wearing this in the winter. On snowy days, it is perfect. I get a lot of compliments on this fragrance.

they shouldve had this smell more like..balsam,(xmas tree pine),cinnamon,snow(somehow),apple pie, and being its xmas in NY...throw some honey roasted peanuts,pretzels,and coffee.

My daughter asked for this last Christmas, worst perfume I have ever smelt. It's maybe the spices but it reminds me of a Chinese take away, curry ect.
