This scent is YUMMY and actually kinda complex! It starts off... buttery pastry creamy coconut. There is quite a bit of creamy coconut especially at the beginning. Unlike many Demeter fragrances, Croquembouche evolves as it wears. The caramel becomes stronger and the coconut sort of settles in as the buttery pastry caramel smell steps forward. It is really edible smelling. The longevity is really good here too. I got a good solid 8 hours or more. Sillage is fair to moderate...nothing huge but definitely not as close as a lot of the Demeter fragrances. I kept smelling hints of that yummy coconut and buttery caramel intertwining, co-mingling about, wafting around me without having to press nose to skin. Croquembouche is one of the better ones by far. It is a SHAME it has been discontinued.

On me this smells like playdough, also a bit like almond jelly.

Croquembouche is accurate! I smell the buttery steam-risen choux pastry (the same kind of dough used for eclairs) and warm caramel. The nougat is supposed to mimic a macaron scent, m'thinks, which can accompany a croquembouche tower, and may be why some people say they smell coconut in this fragrance. Custard adds a creamy, weightless dimension to the composition and furthers the eclair comparisons for me. Perhaps one must know what a croquembouche is in order to dissect this fragrance and enjoy it? It's more than just a sweet scent - I can smell the flour, butter and eggs in the dough. It's smells like a fresh, European dessert and is extremely comforting. Worth a try, especially for the onset of cooler weather! :)
