Dandelion

I have Demeter Dandelion in the perfume oil, and I just sniffed it along with a real dandelion leaf picked from my yard. They smell almost identical, with the perfume oil being slightly more intense. I did the comparison with a dandelion flower and it's not the same as the perfume. I would say this is perfume is all about the dandelion leaves. If you are looking for a green scent and think Demeter's Grass is too soapy and New Leaf is too citrus (like I did), I would recommend you try Dandelion. There's no soapiness nor citrus at all, it's purely green. I love it! However, like most Demeter scents, it only lasts an hour or so.

Real dandelions make me sneeze. So does this perfume. And it's completely worth it. For me the crucial element is a light, buttery note that I can't detect in the bottle, only on my skin. It actually took me a very long time to fall for this fragrance, because I kept sniffing at the bottle (a disappointing experience) instead of just WEARING it. Now I can't get enough! The only downside: longevity is crummy. This is easily the fastest of all my Demeter scents to fade.

Delightfully green, fresh, and floral. It's almost a little soapy, reminds me of a kind of dryer sheet my parents must have used in the laundry when I was young. It's nostalgic, uplifting, springy. It lingers a long time and has nice projection. I love it on both myself and my partner. It layers nicely with more "grown up" florals or popular uplifting scents like Clinique Happy or Marc Jacobs Daisy that I've been enjoying this spring.

I love this A LOT. I got it as a free gift when I ordered directly from Demeter, and wow. The opening is very floral and fresh, and when it dries down on my skin I get a lot of green notes, like the sap on a dandelion's stem. Yum. I adore this--I agree it definitely has a detergenty background, but I love smelling fresh, so no worries.

Today was warm and I thought I'd wear this in honor....soft,fresh grass and a touch of flowers:very simple but lovely especially on a random Spring-like day in November:)

This one is just ok on me, I've not had much luck with Demeter fragrances. They just don't seem to work well with my skin chemistry. Dandelion has a green, bitter note when first applied, very similar to the real thing, but it fades within seconds and turns citrusy and synthetic on me. I tried layering it with Grass, the one Demeter fragrance I really like, and that worked quite well - gave it more of the fresh, green scent I was hoping for. I don't think I'll be buying another bottle though -

It's been a while since I had my bottle, but this fragrance definitely made a lasting impression on me. I grew up surrounded by dandelions. We'd sit on the lawn as kids and pick them, break stems, and blow away the flower heads to the wind. This perfume was a very realistic clone of that scent on me. Especially the green, sharp stem smell. Good for days I wanted to wear something different, on the sharp side, and green. It was definitely a perfume for the warmer weather

This DOES NOT really smell like a dandelion to me (which I find bitter and sneeze-inducing), but I LOVE it. It's green and fresh- smells like nature after a light rain when the sun has come out. I also like Dirt, which evokes a similar feeling but has a little more of that earthy note, while still smelling very fresh and uplifting. I only have a small sample but I will probably buy a full bottle. This would be a great pick me up in winter! Same goes for Dirt.

For me Demeter is all about layering. I like to compose my own scents with a spritz of this and a spritz off that. Dandelion gives me a fresh green floral note. It's okay, they'er fairly inexpencive and not strong so spritz away!

The smell of a Dandelion when you break its stem, so it's more like Dandelion stem ig, and it's really strong ash.

Pretty close to the real thing. It's got both vegetal and floral aspects of a freshly picked dandelion, though more of the stem than the flower. There's also a detergenty, soapy note that distracts from the realism. I wouldn't want to smell like this often, but I would like to smell it occasionally. I think it'll be uplifting during the most depressing depths of winter when spring feels impossibly far away.

This is another strange smell from Demeter / The Library Of Fragrance. It is something very green but since I don't know how dandelion's straw and leaves smell, I'm not sure what it is. I think it is too strong for a cologne. Should be mixed with something else too so this one only gives 10-20% of overall smell. It is oil-based, so it leaves oily marks on clothes if spraying there. Edit 04/07/24: I finally added to the half used 5 ml vial of this two other liquids, both from Independents Warsawa: Man2Man and Woman2Woman. It was interesting that when adding the first which barely has any smell, Dandelion's harsh green already got better but possibly because of dilution only. But when adding the overly floral W2W, it became much more interesting. So this deep green with deep and strong floral together made a very interesting and enjoyable mix!

I really don't like this though have to admit it smells just like dandelion (which apparently I dislike lol). I usually love outdoor scents but this one really turned me off. Much preferred demeters "wet garden" loved it :)

It's fresh, it reminds of grass and tulips and lilies of the valley but it's not by any means a dandelion bloom. Dandelion must have this sweet honey note but it doesn't. Disappointed.

The only time I was scent shamed in public by two absolute strangers on line in a coffee shop was when I tried this. Avoid at all costs. Terrible idea, excellent execution, smells like regret.

This is one of my favorite Demeter fragrances. At first, all I could smell was grass, and I wasn’t too sure. The second time I tried it though – wow. I don’t really smell the flowers, but I do smell the leaves, as well as grass, and a somewhat citrusy note. Its clean and fresh, green and sharp, really lovely for spring/summer and I imagine winter too, when I need to be reminded of brighter days. This seems to hang around on my skin a bit longer than other Demeter fragrances, and on clothing – nearly all day. It also has a nice sillage on clothing. Generally, because of how short lived Demeter fragrances tend to be, I spray twice – once before I get dressed, pretty much all over my skin, and then once on my clothing. I actually thought today that this might be too powerful, but within 30 minutes it died down nicely to a clean, refreshing scent. I love this, but wish it stuck around longer, and wish I didn’t have to use so much. My favorite Demeter fragrances, I can go through a 4oz bottle in a month or less. That makes it hard to collect new ones!

Cannot believe how great this is. Geeen milky tart yet sweet bright fresh and incredibly realistic pollen almost "bee" like quality. I bought 2 X 4oz bottles this week just to make sure I'm not caught unawares if they reformulate or discontinue. This would be a bargain if it were 4 times the price

I am pretty sure this was one of the first perfumes I ever bought! I remember loving the clean, grass-and-flowers scent, and looking through later perfume choices and I can see how this was quite a nice stepping stone for me. Great everyday scent, perfect for those who are young or young at heart.

I truly wanted to smell that milky bitter green that is what Dandelions smell like, but this isn't it. This is straight up a yellow daffodil with that sticky syrup and yellow pollen, the watery element of the green stem. Its’ very pretty, light, springy, simple. But I wanted it to be dandelion.

Doesn't smell like dandelions, they're more bitter, but it does smell clean, sweet and grassy, and a little bit powdery in a fabric softener kinda way. Mainly smells like grass though.

This smells just like summer to me. I get the flower first, its sweetness and bitterness, then grass. I love it!

Smells like laundry detergent. Not bad, but doesn't remind me of dandelions. I'm not getting any grassiness.
