RECOMMENDATION: Demeter Dark Chocolate is a very pleasant fragrance, however, the resulting scent is closer to milk chocolate as opposed to dark chocolate. The longevity is very low. It is a nice-to-have but not a must-have. BLIND-BUY: Yes, but keep in mind the milk chocolate vs dark chocolate note. SIMILAR: These are examples of fragrances that feature chocolate notes. Dua Fragrances Beauteous Delight is the clone of Feve Deliciouse, very similar but with stronger citrus notes and great longevity; Feve Delicieuse is a fantastic gourmand fragrance featuring cacao, milk, and other notes; Kilian Black Phantom EDP features delicious coffee, rum, caramel, and dark chocolate; KMontale Chocolate Greedy bring cacao, vanilla, and tonka, but lacks performance; Paco Rabanne Black XS By Paco Rabanne is a gourmand fragrance that features praline and it feels chocolaty; Thierry Mugler - A*Men Angel Men Pure Tonka is another great gourmand fragrance featuring coffee, cacao, and other delectable notes; Tiziana Terenzi Al Contrario is an exquisite malt, woods, cacao, and sugar cane gourmand fragrance; Tom Ford Noir De Noir is more floral and more chocolaty; Costume National 21 is a delicious amber, milk, vanilla, and tonka fragrance SUMMARY: A moderate projection, very sweet dark chocolate (intense, cacao powder, sugary, creamy) fragrance. This is a FANTASTIC chocolate scent! It truly is a DARK chocolate...on the dry side of chocolate w/out being too much of a dusty or powder cacao (just barely). It is sweet, but not overly sweet. It does sweeten as it wears tho. There is no vanilla, no creamy...its just a DARK dry bar of chocolate. Definitely worth the full bottle. I can see layering with this a LOT. Very similar to Hilde Soliani CiocoChic but at the same time different. - Side by side the CiocoChic wins. It is just a touch sweeter and the salt really does bring out the chocolate note. Where the Demeter sort of fizzles out and I can't smell it as well or distinctly. Plus CiocoChic does last just a bit longer. CiocoChic has a sort of cooler accord to the composition where Dememter Dark Chocolate has a sort of warmer aspect. It is really interesting. It is like they are almost the same scent. If you smelled one independently and it wore off then sprayed the other you would say yep these are almost DUPES. But side by side you really notice the nuances and variations in creating the 2 different perfumes (the salt note, whatever fixatives and other chemicals that make up the perfumes that set them apart from one another). Overall Demeter Dark Chocolate is super, especially for the money....and lasted about 5-6 hours.

I have tried a few different chocolaty scents from Demeter, and so far this one is my favorite! It is just what I was looking for: a pure chocolate smell, with no sweetness or related notes such as vanilla. It smells absolutely delicious, like being walking into a fancy chocolate store. Sadly, it doesn't last very long, maybe 2 or 3 hours.

i added some drops of cinnamon clove and rose essential oils to this and it turned an already good scent into something a m a z i n g

I use this strictly for layering other fragrances. I love the nuance it adds when layering.

I blind bought the roll-on oil version & am finding it yummy. Definitely does smell like chocolate; I wanted to drink it when I first removed the cap! My cat also loves the smell of chocolate and seemed to like this, too. If it can fool a cat's sensitive nose, that's impressive to me! (Of course, she's never allowed to eat chocolate, just sniff it!) I will say that I agree with other reviewers who say the scent is sweeter than actual dark chocolate, but I'm not bothered by that. On me, this does seem to have a faint hint of something floral in it as it fades, but maybe that's just my body chemistry. I think a little of this will go a long way and I expect this small bottle to last me a long time. UPDATE: 10/29/21: It turns out that I don't seem to actually want to smell exactly like chocolate; I haven't reached for this since the day it arrived & I tested it. There's nothing wrong with the perfume or the scent; it's just that I think I'd prefer my chocolate notes in a well blended composition...or maybe I'd just rather *eat* chocolate. I also wish I'd opted for the cologne spray rather than the oil. Might offer it for sale or swap.

A delicious scent! Not sure if it's truly a Dark chocolate fragrance per se, but it is a sweet, slightly bitter (in a good way) and over all a pleasureable scent. The downside is that for me, it lacks depth on its own which is something like about the way dark chocolate actually smells. At first, you are hit with the scrumptious smell of chocolate truffles with a coco dusting, but it quickly mellows down into a milk chocolate candy bar, or a chocolate cupcake. I recommend layering with a coffee or nutty fragrance for that added depth! Over all, I'm actually pleased for I was looking for a decent chocolate scent, which it is.

When I first took the cap off lemme tell you I was blown away, straight brownies, smells incredible. On my skin the smell transforms into more of a dry chocolate cake kinda smell, theres also this odd earthy note that I think is trying to be the “dark” in the dark chocolate but its not doing a very good job of coming off as such. Nonetheless I think this is worth the blind buy, as others have said the longevity leaves something to be desired, but honestly these are more of a novelty than an actual perfume and its so inexpensive that it really doesn’t bother me all that much. Overall I’d give this an 8/10

This blew my mind with its deliciousness. The chocolate is not the darkest, but more of the darker side of milk chocolate. It's incredibly creamy, rich and buttery as opposed to powdery or dry, like cocoa butter but with a much stronger chocolate scent. It's almost oily in texture, and I love it. It lasts a painfully short time, like many by Demeter, but this is without doubt full bottle worthy for me as it will do more than enough as a layering perfume. Highly recommended.

brownie batter. intense cocoa, almost to the point of dry powderiness, but with a deep sweetness to it as well, so not a 100% dark chocolate. gooey, warm, gourmand, simple. mildly artificial smelling but not offensively so. it's fun and i definitely see the appeal as a cheap layering perfume, but i am not a gourmand fan so i can't actually imagine myself wearing it longevity is nonexistent

It is photorealistic dark chocolate. But the darkness of this one is just beyond me especially since I'm a sweet tooth and it's way too powdery in here. Eternal sillage and longevity. But regardless such a fun layer to have around. Layered with a rich leather like godolphin dupes and extremely faint cevit musk this becomes a majestic dirty and dark fur sent.

A surprisingly naturalistic chocolatey smell, but I definitely detect butter, salt, and vanilla in the composition as well, so it reads more like brownie batter than pure chocolate to me. Does not last very long, so this is a bedtime exclusive. I'm curious to understand how this scent differs from the several other Demeter chocolate titles.

A linear vanilla chocolate fragrance. As the scent progresses, I smell a sweeter and softer chocolate scent. This is a great addition to layering with other fragrances. I layer this with sweet and dark scents.

Like chocolate crackers rather than candy. I have smelled this exact same smell before but I have not tried this perfume before, so it's a perfect dupe for something but I can't remember what.

This is truly a dark chocolate — perfectly bitter. I use it to layer with sweet fragrances to balance it out more. Perfect with an almond scented lotion, like a dark chocolate covered almond

A true chocolate scent! You'll know once you smell it "Oh, that is definitely chocolate!" Leaning more towards a decadent Nutella/dark chocolate fudge brownies, this is delicious as a gourmand, and a fun novelty! Deep, rich, and I'm going to go ahead and say it isn't a synthetic-smelling scent, as I've gotten from Demeter a few times before. An issue I usually encounter with fragrances featuring chocolate notes, are an overabundance of either powder, chalk, or woods - all three of which when combined with chocolate feel nauseating. Happy to report that this scent contains none of the three. Grab a bottle & beware - this will definitely activate your sweet tooth!

I'd say this smells more like milk chocolate than dark chocolate, but it also smells more authentically chocolate than I was expecting. It doesn't have too much of an artificial scent, like some chocolate fragrances can. I don't know if it's for me, but it could work well for layering if you want to amplify a chocolate note in another fragrance.

The initial spray is nothing to write home about. To me it initially does smell of chocolate, or rather of a chocolate candy - not dark but nutty. It actually reminds me a bit of the smell of Nutella, or the taste of Ferrero Rocher. But it immediately starts drying down and starts to become just terrible. As it progresses the chocolate and nutty scent starts to go their separate ways: The chocolate becoming deeper and the nuttiness starts to resemble... dried fruits? I start to feel like I've been in a hookah/shisha bar and the residual fumes have stuck onto my shirt. And the people around were smoking some fruit flavours along with some weird chocolate-flavoured one. Overall it all feels very synthetic: It's maybe-chocolate, in the sense that minced meat is maybe-meat. But mostly, it's just really artificial and progresses to be sweeter and sweeter: If this is your jam, good for you. The smell combined with the sticky residue it leaves after spraying begs the question: Did I just buy vape juice? I'd recommend this only for people who think Axe's Dark Temptation also smells like chocolate. 1.5/5

I wasn't impressed. Smelled kind of on point like health food store chocolate, then a bit artificial and like dirt. I did get some of the bitterness of dark chocolate. It smells better layered with Solinotes Vanille, but it's not for me...

When I was very little my friend had a kid kitchen with plastic food that was scented. This smells like those tiny, plastic, "chocolate" cupcakes.

Smells like dirt, and slightly like mildew. I don’t get chocolate from this at all. Demeter Brownie smells more like chocolate than this one does.

I'm sorry but I did not like it at all. To me it smell like the wrapper of the cheapest chocolate candy bar you can find. Ugh.

I bought this purely on reviews as I couldn't find it in the UK , and I love chocolate perfumes. What a mistake! It smells like dirt and there's a sour note- like you're sitting next to someone who hasn't bathed in a while!. It's been relegated to the back of the cupboard for now until I summon the courage to try it again. After reading the glowing reviews I can't believe I don't like it!

straightforward dark dark chocolate. not sweet but bitter. with slight hint of something offputing and heavy. no added notes or nuanses. i cant wear it alone or like layering fragrance, smells bad on me.

So....I went nuts at demeter and ordered everything i ever loved the smell of. The price was right! It started with my vintage search for a particular 70s product called "Elancyl" which was designed to get rid of cellulite. It worked very well and smelled GREAT! Main scent was ivy. Hard to find vintage products. So I ended up here and at demeter. Back to my scent shopping...of every scent I love. Chocolate. I was so pleased to find this until I got a whiff. Another commenter talked about Tyra Banks hating the smell of chocolate because she thought it smelled like a NYC dumpster. That is exactly what this smelled like! I sprayed some on my wrist. At first you could almost taste the chocolate until seconds later when the dumpster came in and parked itself squarely in my house. Scrubbing couldn't get it off fast enough. Some people are sensitive to these things, some are not. I suggest trying a small sample bottle if you want to try it. Maybe mixing it with something high end gourmand might fix it. The dumpster finally went away. You know I am going to try that scent again. I want so much for it to work! I am a fool for perfume and especially vintage perfumes and oils.

Yikes! This is TERRIBLE! It's the same exact cheap chocolate in Demeter's Chocolate Covered Cherries which is fine in that fragrance cause I thought it was supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek nod to the very cheap chocolates found in drugstores during Valebtine's Day. I didn't think they would seriously use it as the chocolate note for all their other chocolate fragrances! How awful! I feel duped! This cheap chocolate note is carried well by the other noted in the Chocolate Covered Cherries fragrance but THIS, by itself, is just awful. Ehat a cheap, cheap shot and a terrible shortcut. Smells like the really cheap chocolate/cheap chocolate syrup combo mixed in vegetable oil (as there is some terrible chemical-like smell - typical to most Demeter's - that acts like a layering glaze pushing the cheap chocolate stink underneath it - such an awkward sensory experience. This is AWFUL! And wouldn't you know it... they used the same cheap chocolate/vegetable oil combo in the Mint Chocolate Chip fragrance with a sour note that's apparently supposed to be mint. How angering!

To my nose, this is pure dark chocolate. It smells just like a dark chocolate truffle candy. It is linear, just as I expected. I bought this strictly for layering with chocolate eau de parfums that could use more chocolate (Qissa Delicious and Nebras). Longevity is not an issue since I am mixing this cologne with fragrances that have a higher oil content. I really like this for layering, but it would be a bit much for me on its own. It is very intense. I use one spray of Dark Chocolate to two to three sprays of whatever I am layering this with.

Smells JUST like a bar of dark chocolate or a mug of rich hot chocolate. It’s a beautiful deep cocoa, but quite linear so it would be really nice to layer with other perfumes. It has minimal sillage and unfortunately only lasts an hour or two before I have to really dig my nose into my skin to be able to smell anything. Saw someone compare this to Montale Chocolate Greedy and Oakcha Choco Break but I disagree. Chocolate Greedy is quite bready on me and Choco Break has a sharp woody scent.

This is one of Demeter's best offerings. A must for fans of chocolate & perfume. Realistic deep chocolate scent that lasts on the skin. Drydown, to me, smells like a devils food cake without the frosting. A bit later, a chocolate perfume. Layers great with other sweet fragrances if you want to add a bit of a cocoa-y kick! I wouldn't be surprised if high end perfumers actually buy this cheapie up and use it in their blends! 😊

I like this one, but only as a mixer with Fantasy Intense, or a quick swipe of the rollerball underneath Nebras. On its own, it is too chocolate foodey...too strong & cloying. It also develops a mushroomy, earthy, bit-too-dirty-for-my-tastes tinge to the chocolate I don't enjoy...this is also something that TF's Black Orchid has that I find off-putting... Only use the rollerball...it is very oily...never spray on clothes...

I love sweet fragrances, so I was beyond excited to receive this one in the mail. My boyfriend is obsessed with chocolate, so I wanted to find a perfume that smells like cocoa to wear around him. I think it smells amazing, but I started to get a headache after 20 minutes. I tested it a few more times, and I kept getting headaches. This is unfortunate since it really is a good smell.

I really like this one. My hubby said it smells like slightly overdone chocolate cupcakes out of the oven. He liked it too. It’s a dry, just a tad sweet chocolate scent. I find it comforting. Second one from Demeter and am enjoying this perfume company.

A lovely, powdery chocolate fragrance. For those looking for a nice, chocolate scent...this is a great fragrance to purchase.
