Destination Collection Ireland

I have to admit that I’ve never used Irish Spring soap, so I can’t confirm or deny that this unisex cologne smells just like it. And no, while it doesn’t smell like the real Irish countryside to me, it does smell like the concept of Ireland and Irish weather. Few blue fragrances work with my skin chemistry, so finding a fresh summer fragrance is something to celebrate. This one is lovely and will be my go-to choice for summer. It’s very economical and long-lasting (at least on me); nine hours in, it’s still going strong!

The smell of unwrapping a brand new bar of Irish Spring soap. It even tickles the nose when first sprayed. Clean, green, simple and fresh. Sometimes you just want to smell like a bar of soap. Soft projection after dry-down and medium longevity.

Regarding Ireland by Demeter, I've read time and again 'Irish Spring Soap'; something that is not marketed widely here in Australia. We have Norsca here; the epitome of 1970s Green pastiche, advertised on the TV and in Magazines, a green woodland setting with a flowing stream and a very attractive faceless person bathing beneath an eternally fresh waterfall. I feel as though that simulation of pine freshness, if removed properly from the whole toilet Pine o' Clean sharp assault to the senses, is done properly, can be a refreshing and uplifting scent. However, the fact that this Cologne is part of Demeter's widely marketed 'Destination Collection' leaves me incredibly disappointed. I was searching for sodden fields and crisp mornings. What I have got is an advertisement from Woman's Day magazine. I recieved a bottle of Acqua Colonia 'Floral Fields of Ireland' in the same package; thus I can now only imagine the real 'Ireland' being somewhere inbetween.

I've been DYING to try this ever since Demeter announced it. I love their New Zealand destination scent, and love anything Irish, so when I saw this, I swooned. Got it in the mail over the weekend and sprayed immediately. The Demeter site talks about this scent as being in a lush meadow with a stream running through it. To me, it smells exactly like Irish Spring soap. I don't dislike it... but it really does smell like Irish spring made a perfume and this is it. Its stronger than your average Demeter spray, but it still is gone in a NY minute. I oversprayed this morning, even on my clothing, not even an hour later I can't even get a whiff of it. I wish they offered it in 4oz bottles, because that tiny 1oz bottle is simply not enough to enjoy this fragrance with the amount of times you need to reapply it.

Moss, damp earth, and an inexplicable hint of something freshly laundered. So, yes, this smells like fresh soap. I prefer this a lot more than New Zealand. This isn’t a fragrance for a wild night out; it’s for a contemplative walk, a reflective cup of tea, or a moment of quiet rebellion against the tyranny of overly floral or sweet perfumes. In a world of scents that scream for attention, Demeter's 'Ireland' is a quiet, witty whisper. It is the perfume equivalent of a wry smile and a nod.

I had a sample of this at one point, and this is pretty much Irish Spring soap smell in a bottle. It's a lovely fragrance if that's what you're after, I just can't imagine any use for it that I would have beyond the novelty of it. I remember passing this around to coworkers and saying "hey, wanna guess what Ireland smells like?" That got a lot of laughs and confused looks. XD

Sniffed the tester of this at our local Demeter retailer (they don't have the bottles in yet). It's minty and fresh. Basically smells like green and water and clean. Really nice scent.

Dead ringer for Irish Spring soap. It's a fun, green, soapy scent. Not long-lasting, typical of Demeter.

It does smell like Irish Spring soap .. maybe a little more citrusy. Unfortunately, it has that signature wheaty, bready base that almost all Demeter fragrances have (to my nose, at least), which doesn’t work as well here as it may in some of their more gourmand offerings. It doesn’t project a ton, but it’s very strong in its scent bubble. I don’t remember it lasting more than an hour or two, so I either went noseblind to it, or it really just didn’t last that long.

Irish Soap before Irish Soap reformulated. Based on the reviews, I recently bought Irish Soap (bar) to compare. This is better in its soapy, green, fresh, minty, aquatic glory. It's not a fragrance I will want to wear (although I did experiment there), but it is a fragrance I want to experience from time to time. Longevity: It's one of their more potent fragrances and lasted about 3 hours on me before I showered and applied something else. I've decanted it and will spray it in the air or on fabric occasionally but I agree that it's more novelty if you're not into clean, soapy, minty, green frags.

I've never been to Ireland (sadness). That being said, this is what I imagine the Irish Spring soap commercial smells like. Generic manflesh-cleaning products. Clean. Green. Watery. I hope Ireland doesn't really smell like this o.o
