Devils Food

Demeter’s Devil’s Food the most straight up realistic and indulgent chocolate gourmand I own. It’s closer to the scent of chocolate frosting than cake, or most accurately a chocolate cupcake with a copious amount of sugary buttercream chocolate frosting. A gentle vanilla note is present, but overall this is for the chocolate lovers. If you’re seeking to smell exactly like a sickly sweet, rich, velvety, warm, chocolatey cupcake— this is it. The fragrance is truly delicious, practically identical to a real mouthwatering, decadent dessert. You can nearly taste it! Great for winter or perhaps fall, especially after dusk. It may also work for some festivities like holidays and playful parties. I originally bought Devil's Food because of the reported similarities to my favorite fragrance, Tokyomilk's Bittersweet, but I wouldn't agree unless you were to layer with something more powdery and floral. Imagine it’s your birthday, and the mood is both lively and cozy. You cut into your layered double chocolate cake and its strong scent fills the air as more and more friends and family members cut their own piece. Yum!

I am reviewing the Demeter Oil Roll-On. Oh my I just want to roll this all over my tongue, I probably could but I don't think it would taste as good as it smells. This is Rich Chocolate Cake Heaven. Starts with a strong bitter chocolate note and is rounded out with wheat, sugar and vanilla. This really is as close to Devil's Food Cake as you can get, frosting and all. You can even smell how moist it is but that could just be the saliva dribbling from my mouth.....excuse me while I grab a napkin. Try the oil Roll-ons. They last much longer than the alcohol based versions, moisturise your skin and are great for layering with Body Sprays. Spray Bodycology Toasted Sugar or Body Fantasies Vanilla or Vanilla Cupcake over the top, they last for hours and you smell so good!

You will want to drink this stuff, it smells amazingly realistic. This would be something to put on before a romp in the hay.

I'm very much not a gourmand fan, but I've found that Devils Food is interesting to layer! On its own, it's a surprisingly photorealistic chocolate cake, complete with nutty and creamy notes. Once in awhile, you'll get a smell that's more like a chocolate lip balm, but it's pretty good. Longevity is under two hours. Layered, Devils Food offers interesting depth for floral, green, and spicy perfumes. Depending on what you layer with, you'll get an extra hour or two. I won't ever wear Devils Food solo, but I can see myself using it to deepen lighter florals.

Another delicious gourmand I can tolerate (allergic to artificial vanilla)! This is so creamy and sweet, just like freshly whipped up devil's foodcake batter. Can definitely get the cocoa powder and wheaty notes, somewhat similar to what's in Tokyo Milk Bittersweet's top notes (I'll definitely be layering the two, because Bittersweet, while pleasant, is too musky/amber-y for me by its lonesome). I know the vanilla is there, but on the drydown I get chocolate roll frosting, instead of ye generic vanilla smell. Like Charlie Sheen said, "winning!"

This smells JUST like Devil's Food Cake! The top notes are absolutely delicious. Gooey, rich, thick, black, chocolate cake! This is the kind of cake that makes your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth with frosting that sticks to your teeth. Unfortunately the scent is fleeting and doesn't last long, but when you are craving chocolate and there is none around, splash or spray some of this on and you'll feel deliciously naughty without the calories!

When you wait for the dry down, it's actually crazy how realistically this smells like a store-bought cake's chocolate buttercream frosting. I would say that it smells less of actual cake than just pure chocolate frosting. Unfortunately, it doesn't last long and turns into a playdough-y scent. A bit too cloying and unsophisticated for my tastes, but if that's what you're going for then by all means get it. Certainly enjoyable to try as a novelty.

The accuracy of this is so, SO good, it smells just like chocolate cake. Incredibly yummy, rich, and gourmand (and accurate enough to make me crave some chocolate frosting lol), but unfortunately the longevity and silage leave much to be desired :( Still, this goes in the "love" category for me because it just smells that damn good. And I'm hoping with the right layering and application, I can make this preform better. Fingers crossed!

Consistent with good Demeter fragrances - impressively realistic, poor longevity, great value, and it could be good for layering because its so simple. It's got some lingering alcohol in the beginning, but that still kind of works because it smells like a creamy chocolate liqueur. It does actually smell just like chocolate icing. The end of its lifespan almost turns kind of musky which is cool too.

This fragrance is very realistic, smells just like a chocolate cake, and I agree with those who say that they can smell both frosting and dough. It has a buttery aspect that reminds m of chocolate frosting. It is really good and surprisingly long lasting, BUT it is definitely too sweet for me! Sooo sweet guys. I'll probably layer it with something bitter and evil to make it wearable :)

It truly smells like chocolate cake!!! Not creamy, rather alcoholic. Divine! Only unfortunately it doesn't last long. It fades away too quickly. Only a vanilla note stays just for a while. I like this fragrance in the beginning a lot. It's dark, gourmand and not sickly sweet at all. Eatable - yes:) Demeter, please, do something with its lasting power! It spoils everything(

this smells really good. with most demeter fragrances, when you first smell it you get a strong whiff of alcohol/chemical smell. But as you let it dry down on your skin, it will smell amazing! At first it smells like a deep dark chocolate but as it sits more on the skin, it turns into a sweet vanilla chocolate. very good. though the silage is not that good

Literally smells edible, super chocolatey and vanilly. Talking about the longevity, guys, what do yall want from a pocket perfume for 20 dollars 3

EDIT: After trying to layer this, I noticed that the yummy chocolate cake scent lasts LESS than 20 minutes, it fades quickly by removing that chocolate scent, leaving the cologne with that strong weird synthetic rubber tape smell, it really destroys the layering !! :( . WHY are Demter fragrances ALWAYS end up like that??. I really thought I had found the PERFECT chocolate cake smell...

When I first smelled this one I was like: "Wooow, that's a real chocolate!" But after few minutes somethin' weird appears. After 5-10 minutes it's smelling like chocolate plaster!!! I'm little bit confused.

I have no idea why, but as soon as I put this on, it turned into soap, and not even good soap. Must be my wacky skin chemistry.

this has got to be the most photorealistic chocolate cake scent ever. it blew my mind when i first smelled it.
