Earl Grey Tea

Thanks to Belladonna’sbliss I got to sample a scent named after a tea that I adore to drink - this will be permanently in my purse for a quick pick-me-up this summer. Fortnum & Mason Earl grey loose leaf tea in fine bone china cups on an early summer afternoon - utter bliss! Refreshing, soothing, clean & calming...& the fragrance does not disappoint, either. There is quite a harsh & herbal, dry, citrus-bergamot opening that blasts you awake. Then a lightly stripping black tea emerges & the scent settles into its “polite cuppa” phase....perfect, not a sugarlump in sight! All-in-all it does what is says on the tin - a nice cup of Earl Grey with a lemon slice. I could happily douse myself in this stuff! My only grumble is that it is gone in a nanosecond....such a shame as this is a lovely uncomplicated, dry cologne that would suit hot, sunny days.

I use this perfume as an underarm scent after I apply my unscented Lavilin deodorant cream. Like most Demeter products it is not very strong, so I use a couple sprays to set it. Bergamot makes a good 'deodorant' smell: clean, sharp citrus with some complexity to it. The tea note is very background and it gets swallowed by the bergamot's expansive personality. This would probably not last long on exposed skin but gets great mileage for my use, lasting well into the next day.

This smells exactly like my dried Crem de la Earl Grey I used to buy from Bulk Nation before they went out of business. It smells like the dried tea leaf. Out of all my Demeter scents this one is very weak unfortunately because it's such a pleasant smell that I love. 🍵 Next time I will try it in my hair or on my clothes. If anyone figures out a good layering scent for this one let me know.

There is no tea in this and it doesn’t smell like earl grey either which is a very distinct smell. I really like it for a body spray if only it were cheaper. I would douse myself in it during the day or before work if it was $7.99 for a huge bottle.

I love it! this is I think one of my successful blind buys. It's very fresh. you could literally smell the bergamot in the beginning but it's not overpowering. The way it blends with the tea note is amazing. It also smells a little bit milky to me.

This does smell like not yet brewed earl grey tea. It's what I imagined it would be, very nice from the start. But it transforms into a mens cologne kind of scent after 10 minutes, and then disappears very quickly, even for Demeter.

amazing and realistic earl grey. has a sort of sweet almost milky note. I drink a London fog every morning and it smells just like this. drydown leans more masculine for me. amazing value as well

I really enjoyed this scent. But then again, I love the smell of Earl Gray Tea and the Demeter perfumes I've owned have usually been pretty spot on. My only complaint is that it didn't last more than twenty minutes on my skin. I felt like I had to keep applying more every hour if I wanted to continue to smell it. I love the creative yet simple scents from Demeter.....just wished they lasted longer on me. BTW, I was in RITE AID the other day and noticed they now carry a very limited library of Demeter scents! Much cheaper than I remember paying and I was surprised to see them in a drugstore.

This doesn't smell very much like Earl Grey Tea, but it starts off with a load of fresh citrus that smells a tiny bit like lime, and turns into a sweet, powdery, slightly woody smell laced with fading citrus that might smell a bit like a cup of Earl Grey tea that someone has put milk and several lumps of sugar into, but only if I really strain my imagination. It usually lasts a little less than an hour on me, but that's kind of what I expect from a cheap citrus cologne. Well, it's nice while it lasts, even if it isn't a HG realistic tea scent.

This is a decent bergamot smell, with afternotes of black tea. The bergamot is a bit sharp at first, almost artificial. It kind of clears out your sinuses a bit lol. A very fresh smell, bright and green. Unfortunately, the tea smell is weak and the overall scent doesn't last very long. It would probably work well with some sort of citrus lotion to make it last longer. For the price, this is a great perfume. If you want something that lasts longer, you're gonna have to shell out more cash.

This fragrance opens with a cool cloud of bergamot and spicy citrus, then quickly turns into a rather delicious creamy, sweet scent which, unfortunately, has very limited sillage and does not smell much like the classic cold-weather beverage, but much more like a London Fog with steamed milk and plenty of vanilla and sugar. I gave a bottle of this to my boy and love to sniff at his wrists when he wears this.

I've never had Earl Grey tea, but this smells exactly like what everyone else has said. I don't really ascribe to gendered scents, but I bet this would smell awesome on a dude. It's kind of...lemon-cleaning-products-meets-hot-janitor! Sharp, clean...slightly musky...polishing stuff... *unfocused gaze*

Got this in a Room Spray for the office bathroom. It definitely masks the industrial bathroom smell, but doesn't last past an hour with the fan on, and I'd say it isn't super cloying. It's more of a green-tea mixed with Earl Grey tea scent, but good as a unisex room spray.

Smells good, idk how realisitic it is. Overall, the whole demeter line was very dissapointing but this smelled good at least

True earl grey scent, although maybe a little chemical. Does not last long though, disappears after a few minutes :(

I think this is more of the green leaves of Earl Grey that shines through a little more than the Bergamot.

I don't really smell tea in this. There is a citrus scent, but it doesn't strike me as bergamot. More like orange zest, but not in a particularly natural way. The opening has a very strong alcohol / solvent aroma, which is rather off-putting, but that dissipates quickly. I would really have liked some creamy notes in the dry-down, but I didn't find that here. It's more of a cleanser scent than anything. To me, this smells almost exactly Bath & Body Works "Aromatherapy Energy Orange Ginger" hand lotion.

I got the perfume oil roll-on which sadly isn't listed here. It starts off fairly strong with a freshy lemon-cesty scent, unfortunately none of the black tea I expected from the name. THe scent doesn't last long, maybe an hour max, which is good because after about five minutes the fresh lemon scent turns into that generic toilet cleaner scent. Can probably make it work in spring and summer, still very disappointing

A bit disappointing. Earl grey is one of my favorite smells so I was super excited to try this. However this smells more like a kitchen spray, the citrus is overpowering and it really doesn't smell like tea. The smell itself isn't bad per se, it's fresh and clean, but not a true earl grey :(

The bergamot scent is blending with the alcohol when sprayed. The full Earl Grey profile seems to come out every once in a while, but is overall very citrusy. Reminds me of the little Lysol hand wipes that chick-fil-a would give out.

It was pleasant, but so faint that I struggled to smell it.

Gah! I wanted to like this so much because Earl grey tea is my favorite, it definitely smells like Earl grey, but mostly the bergamot, I agree with the people saying it leans more to a London fog...but this scent gives me a head ache, it fills the room with the scent and just slaps you in the face, leaving your head throbbing, then just as quickly it's wearing off... I wish I loved this more

Perfectly unisex, fresh and clean with a bergamote beginning and a slightly sweet, soapy dry down. I get the citrus but no actual black tea notes at all. The opening was very much like Byredo's Bal d'Afrique but that was fleeting. The whole experience was fleeting, not bad but not great either. As a tea fragrance this fails. As a cheap bergamote cologne body spray it's fine.

Oily lemon leaf with sour/bitter tannins. Brisk, bracing, and acerbic. Sharp citrus zest takes awhile to settle amidst dry must. Not a lot to like about it. If there is tea, it’s oversteeped.

Where is the bergamot? This one disappoint me, it last for very poor time and I never get the bergamot, just a little bit green tea and it disappeared very soon.

Ugh. Sprays on like lime cleaning product, dries down to a slightly more palatable lime cleaning product.

Sampled this on a clearance table in the mall and I really liked it! I don't think I would buy it, as it doesn't suit my personality, but I DO think my fiancee would be able to wear it. Sadly, he isn't big into cologne...I have to BEG him to wear Bvlgari Black once a month. Thus far I have found that all of Demeter's fragrances are 'what you see is what you get', and this is no exception. The first few minutes are energizing with mild bergamot, and then you feel the curling wisps of black tea surround you. A great fall/winter scent, but I don't imagine it for summer or spring. If you like Earl Grey Tea, you must try this!!!

This is mostly a citrus scent with an undercurrent of white tea, or even tea leaf in my opinion--definitely not true earl grey but pleasant, if fleeting. Where I've really found that it sings is layered. The lightness in Earl Grey really cuts through the heavy buttery drydown of Snif's Extra Whip, and lets the cool ozonic notes play for longer.

Nice bergamot at first, but it quickly disappears leaving a slightly astringent tea. Nicely blended but not distinctive enough as Earl Grey, but a good general purpose tea scent.

For me this is a big disappointment. Only shortly after spraying Earl Grey Tea smells like its name supposes. Very soon it turns into an ordinary cologne.

Fresh scent, nice until it disapears in a NY minute.
