Fresh Brewed Coffee

Very beautiful. At first it's too crude and thick, so realistic that it scared me. Throughout it has no sugar sweetness, but it's not bitter nor dark. It is a very realistic brown, warm coffee scent like ground, roasted coffee beans since it smells so dense and thick. I also detect the brewed coffee impression, but without any cream added to it since it's an austere smell - no sugar. It's not like a latte which usually has other elements in it such as balsamic, vanilla, sugared-sweet or creamy. To be specific, the scent here as I perceive it, is like a light to medium roast or the 1st crack stage of roasted coffee beans when they release a rich dense aroma that is mild, comforting yet intense. At the drydown it gains some smooth feel to it and a slight natural coffee sweetness which doesn't stem from sugar, but from the coffee itself and it feels bready, the way roasted coffee beans smell. The roasting process produces the chemical reactions of the coffee beans' components - its sugars, acids, proteins and caffeine - creating the various flavors and aromas. It progressively becomes smoother, softer like coffee biscuits without sugar, just the natural sweetness of the coffee beans. PERFECTION. I adore natural scents. I even tested it on my mom and she got addicted to it. At the same time I tested DUA's Musky Marshmallow perfume on her too - a balsamic floral sandalwood iris-lavender heady scent, and she did not care for it, but kept telling me how she can't stop smelling her arm where I sprayed this on, tempted to bite herself. It is my favorite plain -in a good way- coffee scent by Demeter, but also an ideal pure coffee scent in general, without any other chaotic sugared, vanilla or cacao elements in it. I mean that's why I resort to Demeter, for their tendency to create 'clean', one-note scents. Espresso is a darker, bitter, thick coffee scent in this similar crude, realistic style as Fresh Brewed Coffee, but it doesn't smell like coffee beans, but like the actual espresso coffee from the 2nd crack roast level - darker brown 'Full City'. It is moderately warm and again without any sugar or cream. Unlike the Fresh Brewed coffee which has some innate coffee-sweetness to it, this doesn't release any sweetness in the later drydown - it stays dark, austere; nothing sharp or obnoxious to it though. It will pair nicely with boozey scents and plain vanilla ones. Nitro Coffee is their newest version I believe, and it's also beautiful and interesting, but more dimensional deviating from the 'pure coffee' genre. It's not gourmand, because it features a fresh green herbal element in it, not herbal as in tea, but as in fresh like bergamot, and it may feature some amber too cuz at the later drydown it leans masculine which is usual for bergamot-amber blends, but not straight-up manly so it's unisex. It's very good too, I like it. It's fresh like the Ginseng Root by Demeter, but a different scent, not like licorice. The subtle coffee scent of the opening doesn't stick around. It's like coffee with fresh bergamot and it becomes woody green.

Stunning. Perfect. Pure black coffee. It is authentic and not synthetic. Not all coffee smells the same, and I can say this one is a light roasted kind. No hints of cream, or sugar or caramel. Just coffee. It is definitely a holy grail for me, as I was looking to create an ambiance scent for myself that required rain, rose and coffee. If you layer this coffee scent with Demeter's Thunderstorm and Aerin's Rose de Grasse, you can experience one of my most coveted moments: A solitary cup of fresh black coffee, looking out the window and watching a summer thunderstorm roll in. The roses have gotten the first drops of cool rain, and the fresh wind is blowing it to you. Complete and utter peace.

This one is straight up coffee, rich, deep, and slightly bitter with a kind of creamy, latte-like feel. It’s a really solid pure coffee scent, and I actually enjoy wearing it on its own. It’s simple but does exactly what it’s meant to do. Where it also works well is when it’s paired with the caramel fragrance from Demeter. That combination leans fully into a caramel latte vibe, with the sweetness balancing out the bitterness nicely. Ratings: 7/10 on its own 6.9/10 when layered

This is hands down the best coffee scented perfume/cologne. It smells strong, dark, and rich. This is straight coffee bean without any lactonic element. Longevity is mediocre, but if you’re familiar with Demeter, you already know that. This is what I wanted MMM Coffee Break to smell like, and that one fell short. If you want to add a fresh element to this, add in Penhaligon’s Lavandula, you won’t be sorry. For $16-$24 you can not go wrong.

I really enjoy this however, it evokes Tiramisu more than a cup of coffee. Perhaps eating tiramisu while drinking espresso? In any case very pleasant and cozy. Will be using this as a daytime/winter scent. Also I layer it with Black Musk Oil from The Body Shop. Smells like a chocolatey heavenly spicy hot chocolate spiked with hot coffee and improves the longevity of the cologne

Charmingly realistic. Freshly ground dark roast. No cream, no sugar. As a purest, this is perfection. The dark, bitter depth makes this perfect to layer with any vanilla frag I find too sweet or floral. The fact that it is just one strong note profile means it blends beautifully into other compositions. This is a Demeter treasure. FRESH BREWED COFFEE is the most realistic and longest lasting of the three Demeter coffee frags. ESPRESSO is sweet, creamy coffee, gone in a flash. NITRO COFFEE is a strange floral (that I assume must be more like coffee blossom) with a sharp tang and no actual coffee notes. FRESH BREWED COFFEE smells much more like actual espresso than ESPRESSO and is also the closest to the opening (Just the opening!) of Kerosene's FOLLOW that I've found. For my money, FRESH BREWED COFFEE is absolutely one of Demeter's BEST scents ever! NOTE FOR ME Review of 120mL spray. I don't know if this makes any difference (with formula or longevity) but this is the round bottle with a plain white label, no picture on it. Both box and bottle have the brown sticker band stuck on them, not actually printed on the labels, with "Fresh Brewed Coffee" in white lettering. The carton insert is sturdy brown cardboard instead of the white corrugated kind. I would like to try the rollerball and massage oil too, if I can find them!

This is a very warm, slightly darkish coffee (not black) that imo has a very, very slight amount of milky chocolatey something that adds the richness and warmth. You wouldn’t immediately think ‘oh, that has chocolate’ when you wear it tho because it’s very much a coffee scent, but to my nose it’s there in a slight about to add warmth. Nice wearing but quite short lived, say a couple of hours or so and does sit quite close as it dries but you get nice little wafts of coffee here and there, which is nice. Needs warmth to add longevity and project at its best imo, so better for warmer seasons. I find Demeters sometimes need a shake (make sure the top is screwed on properly first tho!) then squirt to clear the sprayer of old fumes, then sit for a good week or so and come back to it to get the cleanest most intended scent. Not all do but if it smells weird first time round, try that.

Definitely a very literal scent; it says it smells like fresh brewed coffee, and it delivers. It's sharp, almost bitter (in a good, coffee way) with a very mellow creaminess and has the nuttiness that roasted coffee beans do. I wouldn't wear it alone (I paired it with Billie Eilish Eau de Parfum for a really basic vanilla scent). Like many of Demeter's scents, it's very one note and also has poor projection. It's not strong enough to turn heads or fill a room and honestly fades pretty fast. After an hour I had to bring my wrist to my nose just to smell it. I'm not super upset about it because I got it for $6 via a sale on the Demeter website. If you're looking for a scent that smells exactly like fresh, strongly brewed coffee for about an hour, at an affordable price, this is for you. I honestly really love the scent, I just wish it lasted longer and stronger.

I got this and right off the bat - initially didn't like it. Kinda smelled like a coffee can that had sat outside and collected rainwater and a few cigarette butts, and I'm pretty sure the staying power was on par with that as well. I stuck it in a drawer, same old story, pulled it out after forgetting about it for a couple of months...sprayed it again and the scent is much smoother, definitely stronger, and the lasting power for a Demeter is unbelievable. This is great for layering or boosting a scent that says it has a coffee note, but you want it to be more powerful. Actually, the lasting power of this is crazy now. I now wonder if I need to revisit many of the Demeter frags I got rid of because they fade so quickly-maybe they would benefit from a time-out, too. I think I'll give a couple of them another shot, especially considering the price point.

Consistent with good Demeter fragrances - impressively realistic, poor longevity, great value, and it could be good for layering because its so simple. I enjoy coffee and the smell of coffee, so naturally I got roped into the allure of coffee fragrances. I bought Halloween Man X and hated it - it was a coffee crisp bar covered in shower gel. Sampled a few other coffee fragrances and it was all the same story, a note of coffee in the background buried in other notes that you would not associate with coffee. Even tried Akro Awake, and it had this chunky nuttiness that churned my stomach. This is the first fragrance I found that was just a nice normal coffee scent. The alcohol lingers in the beginning, but that's not so bad because it just smells like a coffee liqueur at that point.

I have the older tall bottle. The strongest in demeter line, absolutely insane. It's definitely special, powdery, spicy, dry, coffee dirt with the sharpest opening. I sometimes think it's just 100% oil because of how strong this is when even I spray it on me. But it is intresting to have around, after a certain time you will definitely get tired of it due to its overwhelming strength, and the powderiness of the ground coffee scent. The reformulated version seems to have a gourmand twist to it compared to the raw dirt from before. I guess we will find out.

This is one of the most realistic and long lasting Demeters I’ve come across, so if you really like the smell of coffee this is a good buy. I personally prefer more lactonic/sweet coffee scents like Replica Coffee Break because this one is really strong and bitter. It’s accurate to real coffee but not exactly in a pretty way, it reminds me more of cheap gas station coffee. I’m surprised people are saying this doesn’t last long because I can still smell it on my clothes MONTHS after buying it and had to scrub it off my arm multiple times.

So rich and realistic at first but after 20 minutes or so it mellows out into something that is still recognizably coffee but more in the realm of a waxy and plasticky coffee-scented candle. I disagree with those saying it's a sugar-free coffee -- this is definitely one of those 3 in 1 instant coffee packets with cream and sugar added, but it's definitely 'real'. It just becomes less and less real and more and more cheap smelling the more time passes, which is a bummer.

Smells like coffee! doesn't last very long, If you really wanted a strong coffee scent, might be better off with a sachet of grounds in your pocket. I do like this for adding interest and layering. Works well with amber, spicy, or woody fragrances if you want to give them a little boho edge. Good price, nice for a room spray as well.

Creamy and yummy coffee smell. I expected a more deep and straight up black coffee scent, but smell this and instead get a buttery croissant being dipped into a frothy hazelnut latte. Somewhat of a buttery baked good note in there. I like it alot! It reminds me almost exactly of the Paris cafe candle from BBW.

Creamy caramel coffee with a little bit of syrup added. It smells like the German candy Riesen Espresso. It's a pick-me-up scent, so don't expect it to last long. Lasts maybe 30 minutes for me.

Yeah it smells just like straight up coffee. Maybe coffee liqueur since it’s kind of alcoholic at first. Great to layer with fragrances , I personally love layering it with Rich Warm Addictive!

I'm on the hunt for a photorealistic coffee bean scent, this isn't quite it. It smells like sweet coffee mixed with one of those cream-filled rectangular wafers (they don't have a specific name but you know what I'm talking about, right?). Anyway, this doesn't smell like black coffee.

Coffee, sugar, a hint of cocoa. I agree with others .. no milk or cream here. Poor throw and longevity from my sample (which is old but should still perform, IMO). Weird, doughy drydown that many Demeters have. Not one I’d repurchase.

If only this one lasted. It smells great when first sprayed, just doesn't last.

This scent is definitely photorealistic. Smells like fresh, black coffee. I love when a coffee perfume actually smells like coffee. That being said, it lasted all of (no joke) 2 minutes. And, no, I don't think I was going nose-blind as I could smell it each time I reapplied. After about an hour, I reapplied and the same thing happened—scentless oil on my wrist after 2 mins. It's a shame because the smell is a really good, simple coffee scent I was looking for. Loved the smell, hated the experience. Disclaimer: I got the oil roll-on, not the spray, so my experience may be a little different. But, with this scent and the other Demeter roll-ons I got, I noticed a similar residual smell among them. It's a kind of stale smell that I can only imagine is coming from the carrier oil since it smelled the same in multiple, vastly different scents. It wasn't super strong, like I could only get a whiff of it when smelling my wrists up close, but it was definitely there.

The moment I sprayed this I was originally in love, the perfect coffee scent not too bitter not too sweet. Truly unisex. BUT unfortunately this just does not last, 10-30 mins and I couldn't smell it anymore. I was drowning in it to get it to last 30mins So disappointing! I was so stoked that it was going to be my new favorite but it's a total waste. Definitely don't recommend just cause longevity is not there.

I love coffee, including the smell of the beverage, ...so I was interested in finding a coffee note I could try layering with other perfumes. Demeter's Fresh Brewed Coffee is one possibility. It smells like a nutty medium roast with cream and sugar added, ...basically a sweet gourmand. If you seek the bitter scent of a black dark roast or unsweetened espresso shot, this is not it. A gourmand lover seeking a lighter, eau-de-cologne strength scent might enjoy wearing this by itself. If needed, (why?) it could even act as olfactory camouflage in a cafe environment. Layering this with most other sweet gourmands should be easy. It would certainly transfom original Khamra into something close to Khamra Qahwa, to give one well-known example. Layering it with other fragrance types would be more experimental, but certainly possible. I see there are two separate profile entries for this fragrance. One with a release date of 2013, the other, 2017. I have the 4 oz round bottle, which I think is an older issue. I'll just double-post on both pages.

It's basically like a starbucks coffee that has syrup and milk and other stuff. I got this one alongside espresso and I liked espresso way more because it’s closer to coffee. This one smells like you’ve already mixed your coffee with sugar creamer and milk basically like a latte or something. It's not just coffee. I’d recommend you getting espresso instead because you can actually tell that there’s a coffee note alongside a strong vanilla note but it's just those two notes. With fresh brewed coffee it seems like there's so much more that it drowns out the coffee note. Update: the dry down smells like crayons :(

Boy is this ever light. It smells rather strong if you sniffed the atomizer ( and a real good coffee smell!), but even if you were to spray with reckless abandon, you won’t get more than a skin scent. It’s too bad! I use it anyway because I really love that first hit of coffee smell in the morning and it really does layer nicely under vanillas or even chocolate notes, but I think this bottle will get used up quickly. I like it too much and I have to use so much of it cause it’s weak.

In my opinion based on my testings, this smells more like Kopiko Coffee Candy more than it does fresh brewed coffee. It's got a very intense coffee smell yes but it's aroma is more sticky sweet and dense rather than a hot fresh richness. Don't get me wrong it smells like coffee for sure and it smells damn good. So good. But it's more of coffee candy than it is fresh brewed coffee, to my nose at least, and my girlfriend says the same thing so take that as you wish! Solid fragrance

this is one of my favourite perfumes, and here’s why: 1. it smells like coffee mocha chocolate heaven. 2. the sillage and performance is INSANE. 3. its cheap. 4. its like walking into a coffee shop in autumn and ordering chocolate cake and espresso. i am in looooooove but if you are not a fan of strong scents definitely avoid this one!! it lasts on clothes for DAYS

Photorealistic fresh black coffee. Smells like a cozy coffee shop in a small town. Would layer extremely well with any gourmand in your collection. No weird undertones or synthetic notes as is usual with coffee perfumes. Just pure, freshly brewed black coffee beans. An absolutely perfect scent from Demeter.

It was a blind buy without any expectations at first, but turned into absolute satisfaction. Opens with a strong authentic coffee note and then settles to a coffe candy scent. Not too sweet, just right. It sits close to skin, and leaves an oily trail after spraying (which i didn.t expect in a cologne).

This really just smells like coffee. I have mixed feelings about it, because it really just smells like coffee. I love the smell of coffee, but I do think in order for me to want to wear this regularly I would want some sort of blend of other scents, that may compliment the coffee bean in some way.

this reminds me of how coffee smelled when i was a child. anyone else feel like coffee as an adult doesnt smell as delicious and potent as it did when you were a child? its coffee its nostalgic coffee its coffee when your parents drank it and you didnt yet

I love this, i think it's completely wearable on it's own! There's some sweetness and it smells quite chocolatey. Basically, it smells like the candy 'pocket coffee'. Edit: I'm so sad that this doesnt last at all. :(

Let it maturate at least a few months, then the "magic will happen"! So I encourage you to buy two unit in the first place! Give a fiew sprays on both to start the maturation/airing. Then use another after another.
