Frozen Pond

This scent was actually a free gift and I didn't pick it for myself. Whoever packed these, has a great way of looking at what was ordered and guessing what a person likes. It is beautiful! Not beautiful in the sense that I wear it with a dress to get called pretty, or to seduce a lover. You wouldn't wear it to the office. It is not a "Wearing" fragrance so to speak, but what I would call an "Ambiance" frag, a memory in a bottle. Do you live in the South? Remember when it was summertime and the sun was about to set, and rain was falling on the scorched hot ground? Mom threw open the windows to let the cool air in, and she had just cleaned up after dinner? That wonderful, God sent cool wind combination of rain on hot earth, lemon cleaner, fresh wet air and leaves? This is it. It smells exactly like that memory. It doesn't give me snow, or pond. It is too warm and woody for that. It smells like a summer night with rain and wind in the trees, lemons and cleaner. It is fresh, astringent and crisp. It smells humble and homey. Very similar to Thunderstorm, minus the lemon astringent. Definitely unisex, as I don't think that the type of notes included invoke pictures of a gender. I mix it with black coffee and it energizes me but comforts me at the same time. This will motivate you to get anything done, it helps with focus. Admittedly I have used it to inhale inside my shirt when I am forced to use less than desired public bathrooms. Will consider a large bottle.

When I got this a few months ago I expected something else. I even added here that it's OK without a review. I changed it to Like now. I don't use it often but having now smelt hundreds of other scents I kind of understand better its value and uniqueness. The "snow" part is definitely the best here. Use it in winter: why not, conforming with the outside; using it in the summer heat: why not, maybe it gives a certain mental level ease in the unbearable heat outside. I am not surprised Demeter (in my case the EU web-shop version called The Library Of Fragrance) has used the same thing in other similar ones. I recently realised there's one other "snow" scent I have experienced: Hotel Cristallo, Cortina, January 28th, 3 pm (Italian Olfactive Landscapes series). But that one is much more complex, fresh and even mysterious in a way with its deep lightly bitter ivy or whatever it is. I mention this for those who want something deeper. This Frozen Pond is much simpler and can be used better for layering with other scents whatever one prefers. But it doesn't need layering, it is good enough itself as it is.

Frozen Pond is lovely on a winter's day, one of those rare perfumes that can pull that off while being in the genre of cool and fresh. Sure, you can wear it in the summer, but it feels random and out of place in the heat. It's hard to place what notes Frozen Pond smells like. There's a brush of airy florals, a mild creaminess, a bit of "blue" (but not in a cologne sense), a facet that you could say is watery. The best comparison is indeed something like fabric softener, dryer sheets, laundry soap, etc. It's nice, though, and transcends laundry products in a way that's hard to explain. Cool, yet paradoxically cozy on a snowy day, comforting. Performance is decent, especially for a Demeter, and you can really splash it on without overwhelming yourself.

Starts with incredibly realistic grass clippings. Bitter and earthy, but nostalgic. The name makes you expect frosty, but it’s more damp soil on a cold day. Strong, wild plant musk instead of floral garden - which makes it unisex. The smell of gardening gloves. There’s some aroma of rain falling on mulch. After it settles, the bitter botanic projects more shampoo, which is unfortunate. People compare it to Demeter’s “Snow” - but that is far weaker and missing the sharp green note. If you don’t want bitter green, try Demeter’s “Rain” for ozone and melon instead.

My area recently had a thunderstorm that caused the temperature to drop from late spring-ish to winter in a few hours. This is that smell- cold, wet earth with bare hints of greenness. There's an initial citrus note that's very fleeting. The perfume oil only lasts about two hours on me, which is a bit disappointing. Sillage is minimal. However, this is a wonderful scent that I enjoy putting on before curling up with a book. I'd be interested to try the defuser oil.

Cold, clean, creamy soft, and airy. Most noticeable in the fragrance is a light floral fabric softener or hand cream note. Practically the same as Demeter's Snow fragrance, which I prefer because it lacks the soil scent. A winter freshie that would work any time of year. The unisex scent leans feminine. Light projection and average longevity.

This a beautiful and truly photorealistic fragrance. The crisp and (initially) bitter smell of snow, earth and a frozen pond are very nostalgic. While I have worn this, I'm not sure if I'd repurchase as a perfume. I definitely would like to own a diffuser oil of this however.

Although I am not sure how the "frozen" aspect is supposed to manifest itself; I would say that this is very definitely water, and very beautiful water at that! I received it as a bonus with my purchase of Demeter Wet Garden. They are lovely mixed together.

Very aquatic, just a little snowy and fresh. At first I smelled petrichor but it faded away quickly. Love it. A sunny morning in spring, just when the snow has begun to melt and first blades of grass start to crop up.

This is Demeter Snow's nearly identical twin. Not bad, you just don't need both.

What is this and why does it smell like nothing? The closest scent I can compare it to is putting your nose right against a a pane of clean glass maybe 2 hours after spraying with windex and wiping with a paper towel. Nearly at the edge of perception it’s just so “___________” Got this as a free sample after buying a few other Demeter perfume oil roll-ons. This brand can be a lot of fun to play and layer with but maybe skip this one.

At first it smells like wet soil or maybe, literally, like a pond. After some time it becomes a quite pleasant, delicate, airy fragrance. I'd say it fits the winter vibes but it's definitely too light to wear when it's cold outside.

Stronger (edp) version of the "snow" bottle they have, i have both samples and i did 1:1 test, snow is weaker than this. I almost feel anomisc trying to sniff "snow" harder because this has a stronger miniralic note that blinds my nose to their snow scent which is naturally weaker even without comparison. Needless to say, the "reminds me of" section is accurate. Thank god I got a sample of this before getting their "snow" bottle. I need this one instead.

The girls who get it, get it. This perfume is meant for layering. It pairs well with narcisso rodriguez pure musc as well as shiro masaki. Adds a futuristic(from the slight metallic scent) clean cold dewy ness to "fresh out the shower" skin perfumes. Only way else i can describe it is it smells like björk homogenic album cover with these combos. cold, crisp y2k millenium.

I feel as though this is the 4th demeter fragrance that i have viewed that has the notes of soil tincture and water notes.
