Geranium Eau de Toilette

Smells just like geranium so at least they don't lie or misinform you with the notes! Spot-on geranium flower. I don't usually care for the Demeter Line but I recently took up buying some of their frags. I have a friend who raves about them and says that you have to like specific scents and smells themselves because they aren't real perfumes or colognes. Demeter specializes in simple basic scents and notes that serve as aroma therapy. When you want to smell that one smell you really love, there's Demeter. Now I happen to love florals and geranium is a flower I have grown in my garden. Very common garden flower. True to the description you'll normally get, this is a fresh lemony, green, herbal, rose-like scent. It's citrusy and pretty sharp as it opens with a sour lemon and a green note. Then it turns softer but not too powdery into a rose. This is also mixed with lavender and some patchouli which give the effect of catching whiffs of flowers in a garden where the main flower being showcased is geranium. It takes me back to my own garden. It's oil and not a perfume and it does not last as long as a regular EDP. It's an EDT. But it's really more of an oil. The scent is not suited to wear on your skin unless you really want to smell like pure geranium. I have taken to wearing this only when I am in my garden or at my other home in Virginia where I have a greenhouse. This is best worn when you are working in your garden. The scents of the real flowers mingles with your fragrance and it really picks you up, makes you feel good. Great for morning and afternoon. A romantic and very simple linear soliflore of sweet geranium. I am so happy I found this. I will soon be reviewing some of my other Demeter Fragrance purchases! Thank You Demeter! Love, Carolyn

Another nice soliflore from the Demeter Naturals collection, Geranium smells very similar to geranium essential oil. Apparently geranium is easier to grow or its scent is easier or less expensive to isolate, or perhaps it occurs naturally in abundance? I don't know the explanation, but geranium absolute costs much less than rose absolute. That must be why geranium is combined so often with rose as a booster of sorts. In this case, there is no rose anywhere to be sniffed, it's all about geranium. The other notes according to Demeter are lavender, patchouli, and cedar, but they are all quite light next to the dominant geranium. I also noticed that this composition seems simpler than the earlier Vintage Naturals 2009 Geranium, which I thought contained spices such as nutmeg. I compared them this afternoon in a side-by-side test and found that they do smell rather different. It's possible that the 2009 version has transformed over the more than three years since it was produced. That was one of the touted virtues of that collection, that they would age like "fine wine" over time. I also recently discovered the Aveda Chakra collection, two of which, #2 and #6, offer big blasts of beautiful and all-natural geranium. So there are lots of good options for geranium lovers these days! I think that I prefer the Chakras, but this Demeter Naturals Geranium is a perfectly good rendition of simple geranium in an eau de toilette format.
