Gingerale

This is a special fragrance for me because it opened my eyes (or nose, I suppose) to the magical world of fragrance. I remember being in middle school and loitering with my friends in this cute little shop that sold indie toiletries after school. Being 12, I never had enough money to buy anything except maybe a lip balm, so I'm sure the store employees hated us as we could spend hours in there touching everything with our grubby hands and smelling products. It was there I smelled ginger ale and feeling the little fizzy bubbles go up my nose awakened something in me. I sprayed some on a piece of cardboard and carried it around with me like a good luck charm for a few days until the scent faded completely. Until that moment perfume was something old fashioned my mom and aunt wore (later in life I found out they wore obsession and aromatics elixir, respectively), but smelling ginger ale just stirred something within me. It sounds dramatic to say that it was a glimpse of the sublime, but I think smelling beautiful perfumes can be a transcendent experience. I haven't smelled it in many years (I never got to purchase it because by the time I got my first job they were no longer carrying it, and shortly after closed down for good) and I don't think it would produce the same feelings but I will always remember that first fateful sniff fondly.

Canada Dry Gingerale Bubbles... This is a pretty realistic rendering of gingerale, and I agree that this smells like cracking open a cold Canada Dry. Up close there's also a note similar to Haribo Coca-Cola gummies. In the air it wafts closer to Canada Dry gingerale - that feeling when you're about to sip and the bubbles dance in front of your nose. There's also a powdery ginger note that reminds me of ground ginger powder, as well as an alcohol note between sake & vodka. This leaves an oily sheen on the skin, and lasted several hours with moderate projection, and I still detected it on clothes the next day. If I step back, I can understand the hand-soap comment below, but that wasn't my first impression. Overall I get the notes of Canada Dry gingerale, powdered ginger, Haribo cola gummies, vodka/sake alcohol & handsoap. In cooler months I would probably layer this scent with a deeper ginger, to make the ginger pop the way it does initially up close when you sniff your wrist. Either that or layer it with something else entirely, not sure. This might stand alone better in warm weather. I will test it again in spring-summer.

I have chosen to go the former half of 2023 searching for unconventional gourmands since I'm less of a sickeningly, sweet gourmand lover and more of a refreshing, cold type. My introduction to soda / cola accords has been more than fun and I feel as if I can end my search with gingerale. It's easily my best demeter buy by far, and I'm sad that it took me years to even see it was a thing. (I honestly feel like things appear and disappear at random on the site) But I couldn't be more happy with my stupidly large 4 oz bottle from FNET. It's a super easy reach and I always get compliments. It's just perfect.

It delivers on the name, just like opening a can of ginger ale. It fades very quickly to a skin scent which is not a surprise for the brand or price point, the labelled “pick-me-up spray” is accurate. Dries to a light ginger spice that lingers for a few hours faintly. If you overspray it it will stick around a bit longer but it’s not going to be something you layer as it gets overpowered easily. Wearable, but not necessarily smellable unless you drown in it. Realistic, fun and uncomplicated. Correction: layered with Amouroud Wet Stone and it enhanced the ginger aspect and lasted longer surprisingly

This is my most complimented fragrance and my go to dumb reach for summer. You have to go very heavy on sprays(10+) but if you do this will last 7+ hours and be a little noticeable on clothing the next morning. And for $20 for 120ml who cares if you have to spray a ton. The smell is just like a freshly opened can of ginger ale. It’s sweet, effervescent, with spicy ginger. 10/10 for smell 8/10 for Performance when sprayed appropriately. This is amazing when layered with YSL L’Homme.

i love this so bad. it literally just smells like gingerale lol. maybe a kind fragrantica soul wants to buy me a full bottle? maybe you, the person reading this right now could do that for me? i mean you were looking at it so clearly you were going to buy it. clearly you have the money. but i guess you would rather keep it for yourself than donate it to me. woooooow. i see how it is. typical selfish fragrantica user. pshhh, whatever.

WOW! This smells exactly like ginger ale. This is spot on! I agree with karlee79, it reminds me of Canada Dry. Ginger ale opens with fizzy soda and a hint of ginger. It is such a mouth watering scent!!! The dry down is pretty much a sweet ginger, it loses the fizziness, but is still very nice. The longevity is not the best but then Demeter fragrance tends not to be that long lasting. This is a definitely a must try!

What sorcery is this? This is the most unique concoction I've ever tried. It smells exactly like opening a bottle of Canada Dry gingerale, including the bubbles. The perfume floats around you, seriously, like bubbles. Even off your clothes the next day. It's a skin scent so, don't have any illusions that this is a huge Dior Poison silage type experience. It's really magical though. I have the 30ml cologne spray.

Beautiful fresh and clean frag, non-offensive, mass appealing. Smells like real ginger ale, even smells bubbly and effervescent. My 4oz bottle from Fragrancenet lasts a very long time, especially for a fresh fragrance, but it’s not a big projector. You can go heavy with the sprays if you want it to project, of course. Also, this layers well with most frags I’ve tried it with. Easy blind buy 👍

WOW, this is a HIT! spot on with the ginger ale. canada dry, watch out! demeter is coming for ya! phenomenal.. 100/10 sweet, gingery spice with a fizzy kick. it dries down a little powdery but i really like that aspect. the ginger really projects. for my first demeter frag, i'm so pleasantly surprised. not much to say, if you're thinking of purchasing, DO IT! you won't regret it!

Love this one...what a perfect summer fragrance on a sweltering hot day...this is a sweet, fizzy, ginger ale soft drink...you can almost taste it...longevity is short, as tends to be the case with Demeter in general, but for the price this is a steal...love Demeter's new larger size option in the Italian glass bottle - this one is worth getting the BIG ONE!

You'll be surprised the perfume itself isn't carbonated, the way it briefly tickles your nose. Opens as a really nice balance of ginger and sweetness that's neither too sharp nor too sugary, then mellows into a bright, fresh ginger scent with plenty of zing. The thought of putting a straw into the bottle and taking a sip just might cross your mind.

Wore this in high school in 2006 💖 It truly is effervescent, for the 10 seconds that it lasts. :( You know the feeling when you open a can of soda and that first extra fizzy blast mists your nose and makes your nostrils burn for just a second? Like that. I guess, in that sense, this perfume is super realistic?

it seems to smell the way i wanted gingerale to taste, more than the way it actually does. it smells fizzy and clean and happy - without smelling soapy or like a cleaning product. fans of BPAL's unreleased Champagne bath oil or The Magi will probably appreciate this as well.

My My My! What can I say about this one? It is absolutely fantastic. When you spray it on, you feel so bubbly like a soda. It smells EXACTLY like Ginger Ale. Like spot on. It isnt too heavy or too light in my opinion, its exactly just right.

smells exactly as what the bottle says! It makes your nose tingle like a freshly opened can of ginger ale, brought back memories of my grandparents having Canada Dry always handy in the fridge. How refreshing. Ahhhh

This fragrance really makes me smile. It smells just like Canada Dry ginger ale. This is definitely an effervescent fragrance. You can actually smell the bubbles. Very refreshing and I found it to last 3-4 hours.

The wonderful fizzy opening transforms into a lightly sweet ginger with a touch of citrus and then finally into a lovely soft cedar drydown with a hint of ginger or iris root. Really wonderful - a masterpiece.

I love this stuff. It really does smell like a fizzy soda. The carbonated note is uncannily real. I like to layer it with perfumes I might've sprayed on a bit too much.

A photorealistic ginger ale scent! When I first smelled it I could almost taste it in my mouth, it just smells exactly like how ginger ale tastes it's crazy.

Canada Dry Gingerale all the way :) Fresh ginger, citrusy, fizzy, sweet, aqueous.

Effervescent, nose tingling gingerale of a traditional soda, more ginger than modern soda. Smells exactly like the traditional soda Sussex Ginger Ale made in New Brunswick, Canada. I remember as a child it was always too spicy for a kid but perfect for an adult. I like to spray this on all over, or to focus it on pulse points and quickly follow it with a dab of Possets' Arcturus vanilla blend. Lovely!

It does indeed smell like ginger ale! I found that it doesn't smell exactly like it straight from the roller but it does on the skin. It's very intimate but I do get a whiff every now and again without directly smelling my wrist... I'm going to have to apply a LOT for it to really smell. It has lasted a couple of hours now. Overall a fun and light summer fragrance.

This is an absolute deliciously scented, somehow "fizzy" perfume! A very light sillage, overall unisex fragrance. If you're looking for a punchy, nose burning ginger this isn't it, this has the aroma of a extra sugary canada dry with a lemon wedge squeezed in. Be warned however, with its charm it basically disappears as soon as it touches your skin :'(

Literally Ginger Ale. Lasts almost never, projects pretty well. I use this on lazy days where I want to feel clean and relaxed. I spray this around my room. I use this like a bath and body works body spray lol. I would never actually wear this as a daily scent, but it has its uses!

Doesn't smell like Canada Dry (my favorite drink) but it does smell most gingerales, which is still a good thing! Kinda reminded me of Coca Cola too, like a gingerale the Coca Cola Company would make. Smells strong I don't need more than a few sprays but longevity is only 3hrs.

I really enjoyed this perfume. It definitely smells like gingerale in the best way! I found that similar to other Demeter fragrances, they dont last las long as I wish they would, but Demeter is definitely one of my favorite perfues that recreates specific smells. 8/10

They nailed this one. Definitely smells like gingerale, down to a fizzy "lift" that I'm assuming comes from aldehydes. It's fun and it has the usual Demeter performance, so don't expect a miracle.

100% Canada Dry Gingerale! I should taste it, maybe Demeter uses the popular softdrink and promotes it as a perfume, hmmm.... ;)

Smells just like Canada Dry gingerale. I have a sample of the cologne and it fades quickly like most Demeters.

This smells just like ginger ale for the 0.5 seconds that it lasts.

*disclaimer: I have the perfume oil version The longevity and sillage is basically non-existent so I’ll have to try the spray version. I’m also only getting the lime/citrus notes mixed with a whisper of ginger, but the fizzy-musk element is there which I appreciate. Someone I know of said it smells like public toilet cleaner so take that as you will. I’m not thoroughly impressed but you get what you pay for so my expectations were not that high tbh

a surprisingly realistic ginger ale scent. there's an almost effervescent, carbonated feeling to the opening. it's sweet, lightly citrusy from the lime, and has that mild ginger that you find in a ginger ale. it's not a ginger beer, not a strong enough ginger, this is definitely soda, but it's not overly sweet. it almost has a soapiness or a waxiness as it dries down and loses some sweetness i'm using the roll on oil

Blind buy because of the resemblance with Origens Ginger essence. Alas, there’s no crispy freshness or nose tingling in this gingerale! I however can recommend Origens.

Perfect for summer. Wore this today in the cold, it's been on for 8 hours and still going strong. 2 sprays. On point, Gingerale it is.

Exactly like cracking open a Canada Dry on a warm day, with the bubbles dancing on your tongue and condensation running down your hand. Sort of perfect for what I've been looking for: spicy, citrusy, subtle perfection. I don't know if this is *exactly* what I want to smell like all the time, but I LOVE smelling it - at least initially. It dries down almost soapy, and a little muted.. I'll have to wear it a few more times and see Would be great layered with another spicy frag. Possibly adding to the want list! EDIT: ok, I changed my mind... the dry down ruins this 100%. Smells like generic bathroom hand soap

I really wanted to like this, especially since ginger is easily one of my favorite notes. I was gonna gift it to someone. I got told it reminded them of a toilet cleaner. Unfortunately upon further smell tests they were right. It's a Pine-Sol toilet cleaner type of scent that I genuinely find repulsive. If you're looking for ginger, you're better off looking for something else.

INCREDIBLE! They nailed it. It smells just like bubbly ginger ale. On me, I can smell a tad bit of cola. It's MAGICAL! I remember wanting this so bad and now that I finally have it I'm so happy. It is a fun scent. Refreshing! DEMETER makes me happy. I enjoy every scent I've tried so far by them. I bought 10 samples off of of eBay of various scents. I couldn't be more happier. I really LOOOOOOOVE this. Absolutely nostalgic. Brings back memories of my friends gram. She always gave us Canada Dry and English muffins in the morning. I miss my youth. It was so innocent. We would cruise around listening to rock n roll. The 80s were simple. This scent brings me back in time! It's so enchanting.

There's no gingerale in my coutry. Here, it's not a popular beverage at all. I have a very foggy memory of having drunk it like 15 years ago, so... Just have in mind I'm comparing the scent to what I thought gingerale should be. I couldn't smell any bubbles. It's not refreshing as I thought it would be, beacuse it's somehow sticky. And it's sticky, but the sugar is more like those artificial sweeteners that leave a bitter/metallic aftertaste. There's a ginger note quite realistic, but I wish it had something like cloves or cinammon. I wouldn't wear it but I guess I'd totally drink something smelling like this.

I have this in the Body Oil and I use it when I get out of the shower. The reason I like this in the body oil is because its light and bubbly, fizzy type. Not strong at all so I can actually layer my fragrances ontop of this and it works well. Like many other reviewers say, smells just like Gingerale. I love me some Canada Dry! Wearing this all over your body (body oil) is light and not overpowering whatsoever. Words that come to my mind fizzy, bubbly, crisp, refreshing, light ginger, light citrus, virgin champagne, clean. While my skin stays soft and smooth, the scent doesn't last long at all unfortunately.

Right after spraying, I was pleasantly surprised that it really does smell like gingerale. Even that fizzy bubbly soda feeling in your nose! After that though... is anyone else getting public restroom soap smell? It really reminds me of the smell of entering a public restroom and also the smell on your hands after you wash your hands with public restroom soap.

It does kinda remind me of the smell you get when your nose is near a glass of recently poured gingerale. Not quite as bright and snappy but there is definitely a freshness in the fragrance that is appealing. Fun to have a one ounce spray to toss in my bag for a refreshing pick-me-up when out and about. Try it! ✨

Okay, this does not freaking smell like Gingerale in any sense of the word. It is strong ginger, and that's it. I sense no sweetness or bubbliness. Maybe my nose is broken. This one was the most disappointing of the samples I ordered. The other Demeter scents were very realistic.

This is the most FUN FRAG in my Demeter Library. Smells like you just popped the top of a bottle of cold White Rock Ginger Ale and the bubbles are going up your nose. Happy uplifting spray for panic attacks or just feeling "blah". Blind Buy with confidence as I did !

I bought this small square size bottle in Tokyo Hands in Yokohama. I love ginger as you can see from my profile. This is a genuine fizzy ginger ale scent. It’s great layered with the L’Occitane perfume Osmanthus which has citrus notes.

Literally a photorealistic ginger beer smell, carbonated and all. It’s light and refreshing and would be great to layer with other simple fresh scents to add some spice.

Yes, it smells like ginger ale. But i never wear this because if I squint it also smells like a cleaner i've smelt in many public bathrooms before.

Truly the scent of fizzy Gingerale. It does need to be sprayed oh throughout the day. For the price, that should not be a problem.

Smells 100% like gingerale, bubbles and all! Very impressive but at the same time it is not something I am wearing.
