Heather

Don't really know what fresh real Heather smells like, I bought it because well...it's my name, lol. but it is an OK floral nothing special.

I have no idea what heather smells like. I'm not sure why I was drawn to try this....honestly, I like the look of the flower. (If that's not reason enough to try a fragrance, I don't know what is! Haha...kidding) I just love the idea of fragrant hills of this pretty little flower. I imagined maybe a sweeter, milder cousin of lavender? I had zero prior knowledge, so it was fun to satisfy my curiosity. I would describe Heather as indeed, sweet and mild. For some reason almond blossom pops into my brain as something to compare it to. I'm also reminded of the pink liquid soap that was used in the restrooms of my elementary school. While that description is enough to send many fragrance enthusiasts running from the room screaming, I promise I compare the two in a positive, not negative way. :) I remember loving that mild, clean, sweet smell so much back then. I would sniff my hands obsessively after washing them. All of this sweet, mild niceness, though, comes only after about 5 minutes of an alarming, strong, cumin-like, phase. What on earth?? I sprayed on a tissue, and my clothing to make sure it wasn't my chemistry. It's definitely the fragrance's chemistry, not mine. Maybe that's the "herbal" coming out? I don't know, but it's certainly not the "herbal" I was hoping for. It is SOO unpleasant to my nose, but right as I've sniffed and gasped/gagged for about the 12th time, it's suddenly all rolling hills, covered in pinkish-purple tiny blossoms swaying in the fragrant breeze. Hmm. ;)

Heathers are similar in appearance to lavender and a bit like heliotrope, purple flowers that grow right on grassy knolls and hillsides. This fragrance reminds me of that painting by Monet with the lady and her little boy walking down a hill of poppy flowers. This is a soft scent of purple flowers. But unfortunately it's not perfumy enough for me. This does not last long, none of the Demeter fragrances last long enough for one to truly enjoy or analyze it. They are usually just cheap thrills for people who want to smell the scent and what it's meant to recreate. This is better suited for room spray air freshner. Scent your home with this stuff and you will swoon. It smells very nice less spicy than lavender just blissful soft purple flowers, not really all that different from wisteria which I also like. Gorgeous floral scent.
