Kitten Fur Grumpy Cat

I love, love, LOVE Kitten Fur; it's been growing on me more every time I wear it, so I was thrilled to see that the special Grumpy Cat limited edition has been brought back, giving me an excuse to buy another bottle! Kitten Fur is a lovely, sweet and powdery musk that wraps itself around you and gives you a snuggle. Such a soft-feeling, cozy scent! It lasts several hours on my skin and seemingly forever on clothing. And who didn't love Grumpy Cat? I miss her and I'm glad Demeter has given her her own celebrity perfume (even though I know she would probably find something to be grumpy about with that, too!).

Kitten Fur is one of my favorite scents, so the special edition Grumpy Cat bottle is a no-brainer must-have. I've tried a lot of Demeter fragrances and I dislike almost all of them. But Kitten Fur is something very special.

Note that this is a limited edition of the Kitten Fur fragrance - the juice is the same. There is no difference in price, so I bought this bottle in memory of Grumpy Cat. Upon first spray, I smell strong metallic and plastic notes - not obnoxious, but nothing kittenlike. I'm not familiar with most of Demeter's fragrances, but I've noticed these opening notes in several scents from Juliette Has A Gun. Synthetic (not necessarily a bad thing), but not the old-fashioned kind of aldehyde common to vintage frags like Chanel No 5. After about 15 minutes, Kitten Fur settles into a very pleasant, soft musky scent with a touch of baby powder (orris root, maybe?), and of course, a bit of vanilla, which I understand is used very often in Demeter's fragrances. It's warm and cozy. Makes me want to snuggle up with my three cats. Later, I realize that something in Kitten Fur reminds me of the original Lutece and Ombre Rose fragrances from the 1980s, both of which were similar and unusual. It's a shame that Demeter doesn't list all the notes in their description of this scent; it only mentions vanilla and musk. Lutece and Ombre Rose both contained musk and vanilla, as do hundreds of perfumes. But they also shared notes of Brazilian Rosewood, Aldehydes, Geranium, Orris Root, Vetiver, Lily-of-the-Valley, Cedar, Tonka Bean, Heliotrope, and Cinnamon. So the secret ingredient must be a one of those (or a combination). A few hours later ... now I'm getting Donna Karan Cashmere Mist vibes! Not bad at all. What an interesting fragrance Kitten Fur has turned out to be.

Commenting on this one just for fun. This is a cute and subtle little fragrance. I purchased it for my school aged Daughter because she was so enamoured with the name and bottle when we encountered it and a whole line of Demeters in a little gift boutique. It smells surprisingly lovely and of the many Demeters I’ve now tested, is one of the more wearable. Though I personally won’t be wearing it and my Daughter will wear one spray sometimes. A very soft musky scent that sits close to the skin. A little bit vanilla sweet and a little bit clean. I do think this somewhat captures smelling the fluffy, cotton/fresh fur of a new kitten. My cat’s very old now - best not to capture his smell in a bottle ;)

Smells like baby powder, musk, vanilla, and sweet tobacco. Overwhelmingly strong at first, the drydown is pleasant. Sillage is enormous, longevity is weak.

The first fragrance I want to own just for the sake of the bottle =) I know I won't like or use the juice. I do not think much of Demeter. Just love Grumpy cat.

RIP to a legend, forever living on in an amazing fragrance.
