Kitten Fur

Like many other perfume-addicted cat lovers, I knew I was going to have to try this fragrance eventually, despite all the reviews stating that it smells nothing like real kittens. I completely agree with those reviews and don't expect any man-made perfume will ever truly capture a real cat's scent. But with that said, I'm always ready to discover new cat-inspired fragrances anyway, since that's how I developed a wider interest in perfume, and it sounded like a safe blind buy for vanilla musk fans like me. There's a slightly synthetic feel to it that's most noticeable when first sprayed, but I don't find it to be too much. This is a lovely, sweet, powdery musk infused with subtle vanilla- soft, sensual, comforting & cozy smelling. I'm quite glad I tried it. I agree with people who have compared it to Donna Karan's Cashmere Mist. It smells a lot like that to me too (at least, like the base notes of Cashmere Mist)- and for a literal fraction of the price. It's gorgeous on its own but also layers beautifully with my signature. This is the first Demeter fragrance I've ever tried, though I've been curious about their scents for years and will be exploring them more now! Their longevity seems often criticized, but to me, Kitten Fur's seems decent enough, especially on clothing, where it really clings! I'm finding it stands up to the longevity of some fragrances I've tested that are priced 10 times higher. This is a new love!

This scent is so intriguing because it's quite non-descript while still evocative of so many things. This nostalgic perfume is aptly named Kitten Fur, which perfectly describes it, yet it hearkens back to so much more. It's somewhat sweet like vanilla, light and powdery like baby powder, soft and musky. It smells like soapless soap, freshly shampooed fur, and a newborn baby—all at the same time. The scent is so vague but so specific at the time. Pretty genius if you ask me. Disclaimer: I got the oil roll-on, not the spray, so my experience may be a little different. But, with this scent and the other Demeter roll-ons I got, I noticed a similar residual smell among them. It's a kind of stale smell that I can only imagine is coming from the carrier oil since it smelled the same in multiple, vastly different scents. It wasn't super strong, like I could only get a whiff of it when smelling my wrists up close, but it was definitely there.

No doubt this is one of Demeter's best offerings. At first it smells gourmand to me; caramel and vanilla. But then it changes into something more unique. A rubber note emerges that reminds me of Bvlgari Black. It is completely unexpected but wholeheartedly welcomed. There is an intriguing dust note that rises to the surface after about five minutes. Underneath I smell that indescribable note that all Demeter Perfumes seem to have. It provides a crisp and clean dimension to this interesting fragrance. A person who likes cats, leather and caramel cake will like this. These aspects combine in a playful and mature way that would otherwise seem contradictory. If it were a person it would conjure joy and polite gossip. As much as I never thought I'd say it, I think this may be better than Bvlgari Black. On my skin it has a very similar rubber note, but it’s stronger.

It smells nothing like a cat, but it DOES smell nice and has a better skin scent than the "clean skin" skin scent they have. Essentially lovely and comforting. First time i had this i wore it to bed repeatedly and abused it until i ended up breaking the bottle. And then bought 3 extra backups which I'm currently using (frequently because i needed to calm down). I liked the concept of it all being comfy, skinny (skin like), musky, soft spicey, slightly fresh floral, slightly sweet and powdery all in a good balance. Somehow it comes off masculine leaning scent which i thought was crazyyy (it's crazy rare to find masculine skin scent out there, so this is basically ultra-rare). It has a short lifetime on skin but i still love it. It will be one of my best skin scent perfume until i find a proper replacement for the time being.

It’s said that cat lovers like the way their cats smell because their brains have been invaded by toxoplasmosis. Well, I’m one of them. I love picking up my cat and cuddling her, and even smelling the top of her head, as one does a baby. Cats have a smell - not ammonia or kitty litter or fish treats, but a baby-like smell with an animal muskiness. Now, does this smell exactly like my cat? Not quite. Does this feel like picking her up, pressing her soft fur against my face, and feeling her purring? Yes. Kitten Fur smells like baby powder, until you smell baby powder right next it. It has an almondy sweetness and a bit of that animalic muskiness. It’s cute without feeling juvenile. Smells great in the sunshine, and not too cloying in close quarters.

I finally bought this perfume because I was so intrigued by the range of reviews here. So, I'm not a cat person at all...I'm a dog person. That being said, I love this perfume. It reminds me of the way my best dog smells when she snuggles into me on the couch or nestles into her freshly washed blankets. It's a soft, comforting smell... but there is also an element of sexiness to it. To me it is a powdery-musky scent. I can't put my finger on it beyond that. This is another one where the longevity seems to depend on the day (probably my mood.) Definitely lasts longer sprayed on clothes, although I have gotten whiffs of it 3-4 hours after application on my skin on some days. One of my favorites from Demeter.

while it doesn't smell like actual kitten fur, I find it smells like the experience and comfort of cuddling with your cat on a sunny afternoon as you both drift off into a nap together. I have no idea how they captured an experience like that but I'm glad I go to smell this one. fortunately I don't get the baby wipe smell, to me it has the warmth of something like cinnamon but it doesn't smell like actual cinnamon either. I wish it was a little more musky like a cat but even if I was expecting an animalic vibe this is still a beautifully done fragrance in my opinion. the sillage and longevity are incredible considering it's Demeter, definitely getting a full bottle

I used to have a roll on perfume oil of this scent and just a second ago when going through some old cosmetica products I found it again! So happy because a few years back this was such a comfort scent for me. At that time I was used to sleeping next to my kitten every night. This scent, although very simple, brings me back to sleeping on the couch with Guup. Musky and with a hint of almond. A little powdery. To me, this scent smells exactly like the memory I have of my cats fur tickling my nose. :) (If anyone knows where to get the roll on perfume oil of this in Europe, shoot me a message. I'd like to have a back-up)

So many people say this is innacurate but I really love it , as someone who has four cats I can definitely smell the resemblance. It smells like it’s cold outside and you freshly washed a cashmere blanket and you pull it out of the dryer while it’s still warm. It’s starts like freshly washed blanket then faded into a light gingery peppery note and finally settles to a warm and slightly sweet skin musk. Since the mix of notes are so unique I can understand why some might not like it but to me it smells really great. It also lasts really long and has surprisingly good projection.

One of a few top favorites in my entire collection, honestly. To me, it actually does smell like burying your nose in a kitten's fur. It's a subtly sweet, soft musk. As some reviewers have mentioned, there's just the slightest touch of vanilla. I also own the original Abdul Kareem Egyptian musk oil, which I think resembles the understated beauty of this. So I spray Kitten Fur on top of it, and that's sort of become my signature scent for home. I have the Demeter Kitten Fur scent in shower gel and lotion too. It's all beautiful, very cuddly and comforting.

I bought this on a whim because I was intrigued by the novelty of smelling like kitten fur. Upon first spray I got a pleasant, albeit generic ‘man cologne’ smell, but when it settles on my skin a lovely powdery, slightly musky and sweet smell emerges that I absolutely adore! It’s definitely reminiscent of that ‘kitten smell’, soft, snuggly and comforting. This is my first Demeter/The Library of Fragrance perfume and I’m really impressed! Kitten Fur is a fun addition to my collection that I’ll be reaching for quite regularly.

This smells so so much like curve crush to me. It’s very dry powdery, lactonic, cinnamon and nutmeg- the main notes I pick up in curve crush. Kitten fur is a hair (a hair! Get it?) sweeter than crush and 80% dry powder to curve’s 98% I definitely like it better than crush, which somehow makes me a little nauseous and wish for more sweetness and moisture. Kitten fur has the balance I feel is missing from crush and it’s quite nice! Safe, gentle, sweet and powdery without being overwhelming, harsh or scratchy.

(sweet, powdery, musky) I know some of people say it does not smell like a kitty, but if you think about it, every cat smells different and every scent smells different on each persons skin. I had 4 cats in total and only my Luna has this beautiful sweet powdery musky smell, and I must say this cologne represent it on my skin very well! The only thing is that the scent is very strong so you only need a little bit of it. I personally like it as long as I don't put too much. It reminds me of my beloved Luna♡

not animalic like you would expect, but that's okay with me because i love a powdery scent. it still invokes that feeling of sniffing your cats fur (lol). almost a little spicy. reminiscent of almond extract .. i can kinda understand the baby wipe smell people are getting, but it's too musky and warm for that to immediately be what i get from this (personally). not nearly sterile enough to be a wet wipe. i just really love the way this smells on my skin! will be pairing it w/ my baby powder roll on :3

god i LOVE THIS! it drives me CRAZY. i can not stop smelling my clothes, pillow case, nightgown and skin, when i wear this. It's addictive (Beeswax from Demeter is my other addiction, and they smell nothing alike) I am just about to order another bottle. it reminds me of Love's Baby Soft, but this is more of a grown up fragrance

I dont know what this smells like, but I love it & unlike all the Demeter frags, it's lasts awhile on my skin, affordable & reminds me of Dream Angels Heavenly by Victoria Secret, HOWEVER, I think this is more wearable and less musky/sexy than Heavenly. This is very wearable all day, in a word "comforting"

not only do i love the smell but have great associations with it so will be saving a vial for the nursing home :p i think it’s nice on its own for bedtime or post shower but would layer it with something to soften it during the daytime. i have a personal soft spot for it tho (as soft as kitten fur hehe)

smells just like the fragrance they use on a pet's fur after it's been groomed...soapy, clean and powdery, but soft and cuddly — a light laundry smell. EDIT: after a week of owning this, it is literally just cleaning product smell. it’s genuinely just multipurpose countertop disinfectant spray

Lovely comforting smell. Not overly sweet! When sprayed on clothing, it lasts for days! Sillage is still not particularly strong, but it is more than intimate when worn this way. I would say the same goes for most demeter fragrance, but I think kitten fur is much stronger than others I own!!!

cinnamon, baby powder, white musk, shea butter...??? cocoa butter...? something. If you like choco musk it feels like a less thick or less 'sticky' smell than it but the end result is almost the same. it is somehow still a little feline when you squint in some odd way. cozy clean musk.

I love spraying this into my bedsheets. Really helps me relax. I think it’s good for layering, too. On cloth it lasts about a day. Unfortunately it doesn’t last that long on my skin, but my skin likes to nullify perfumes.

9/10. this has awesome projection compared to other demeter fragrances. favorite perfume from the brand so far. it smells bright but comforting (the powder), so i would layer it with some sort of musk

very soft powdery scent it smells very similar to pas de chat by odette but less vanilla. it smells like you're cuddling with a soft kitten that smells like baby powder. i like it quite a lot

Bought this because I miss the old formulation of VS Dream Angels Heavenly, and this smells almost identical. I wore it all through high school and was disappointed that VS changed the dna.

To me it smells like clean laundry and a hint of a musky scent that reminds me of an animal. It specifically invokes the notion of a cat laying in a clean laundry basket in the sunshine.

My ma bought me a little sample pack of odd Demeter fragrances and this one stuck out to me particularly. Sweet and soft and powdery. Definite note of cashmere. Very comforting.

Smells just like a kittens belly, especially once it settles a bit. It also lasts quite a while, with one spray being enough to enjoy it for the rest of the day.

I’m not sure if the roll on format changes the scent at all, but it smells like coco butter Vaseline oil gel to me 😭 I personally love it.

This does not smell like a kitten, but it is truly divine. I get the plastic note people don’t seem to like, and I love it!

So cozy I want to bury my face in it. Intimate, light. Vanilla and a big fluffy comforter.

I blind-bought it a couple of years back because of the name, being a cat person (obviously!) It smelled sweet, powdery, and musky vanilla to me, quite pleasant, so I sprayed it generously on my dress and hair. Then I went on to have my breakfast and it was... weird. All smells and tastes were blown out of proportion. The pancake assaulted my senses – burnt flour and sunflower seed oil. Coffee reeked of cow because of the cream in it. I just couldn’t continue. I had to wash my wrists and change the dress to go about my day, but what’s left on my hair still amplified all the smells around me. I could catch trails of perfume from people travelling several meters in front of me on the escalator as strongly as if I sniffed the bottle. It was a trippy experience. I don’t know what’s in this perfume that works like this (musk? ambergris?) but it is a powerful smell amplifier, so apply with caution. It might not smell like a kitten, but it will give you an experience of being a cat with an acute sense of smell. But then again, it does smell a bit like a cat. If you have ever smelled a cat’s forehead (one of the places where their scent glands are), you might have felt a similar sweet scent. Each cat’s smell is unique and the two cats that live with me now definitely smell different (from each other and from this perfume). However, Demeter’s Kitten Fur is very reminiscent of the first cat I had as a child. She was a black moggie of no particular breed. Sometimes, when I smelled her forehead (where the lines in the fur make a spider-like pattern) I felt a sweet scent that I mistook for a perfume back then. I thought she must have slept on my mom’s clothes or played with perfume bottles on my sister’s dressing table. Later, when I had a chance to smell other cats I realized that what I perceived as perfume were actually my cat’s scent glands and her unique natural odor. It was (from my memory) almost exactly what Demeter’s artists created. I do believe they went for the actual smell of a living, breathing feline prototype, and not an abstract cuddly feeling. It seems to me they've succeeded. The only "but" is that, again, each cat smells different and you might not recognize it for your kitten. Still, it definitely is a cat.

This is a simple, powdery & clean, linear white musk kind of scent, mildly sweet and very soft and smooth. I don't get the lavender notes that some reviews are mentioning, and I can't imagine what's in this that some people could perceive that way. I do get the synthetic, plastic-reminiscent note that some are mentioning, but that goes away, and I agree with a couple of other reviewers that it kind of smells like a plush stuffed animal; like artificial fur. This fragrance doesn't smell like a real kitten, but it does convey the cozy feeling of cuddling with one, maybe while wrapped in clean bedsheets. Anyone who thinks Demeter scents don't last at all should give Kitten Fur a try- I have to be careful which clothes I get it on, because apparently it doesn't come off completely even after going through the washer and dryer! I get good longevity on my skin, as well, and traces of it sometimes even survive a shower! For anyone who likes white musks, Kitten Fur is an inexpensive and versatile option, good on its own or layered with something else. Some days I think it leans feminine; other days it feels more unisex and I get a hint of that "men's cologne" vibe some people have noticed. That ultimately edges this fragrance off my "Love" shelf and onto my "Like" shelf, but of the Demeter fragrances I've tried so far, this has still easily been my one of my favorites overall. UPDATE: 3/23/23: I've begun experimenting with layering perfumes a lot more recently, and I've been finding that -this- is Kitten Fur's time to shine! It makes a fantastic richly textured and sensual-feeling base for any simple floral-dominant fragrance, and the plastic/synthetic/"men's cologne" opening of Kitten Fur is easy to hide using the top notes of another perfume. By the time those are gone, Kitten Fur has reached its sweet spot, and I'm getting so much more wear from my bottle now! I think Kitten Fur might even act as a fixative for certain other fragrances, because some seem to last longer when used this way than they did alone on my skin. Yay!

i’m allergic to cats, so i am faced with the unfortunate fate of not being able to smell them and put my face in their fur, and breathe in all the dander and fluff into my lungs. one day i was talking with my sister and i was like “hm, i wonder if there’s a fragrance out there that smells like cats.” she got me a full bottle as a holiday gift. so she says it smells like a cats head, but if the cat was laying in a pile of warm laundry. take that as you will. for me, i definitely understand the laundry part. it has this furry type of quality to it that kind of smells like a fluffy blanket FRESH from the dryer. literally just pulled it out, but the washing just had a shit ton of softener and soap, but this mellows into kind of a powdery musk that kind of gives the FEELING of a soft, warm animal. there’s a slight sweetness to it when it dries, and it’s a livery light vanilla, but the fragrance itself — at least for me — has an almost saliva quality to it?? not in a bad way, but for me there’s like a hint of savouriness that kind of makes me think of a cat licking you, all notes combined. i may not know what a cat truly smells like, but this scent does the name justice. it lasts a bit longer on clothes, and the projection for me kind of it’s closer to you, but the longevity is honestly pretty good imo. also nice for layering. i layered this with “moth” by zoologist once on a movie date to go see mulholland drive, which we had walked around for a little bit before, got dinner, and then took a bus back to his place, and this stayed the entire time. matter of fact, it was still on my sweater throughout the next day. so boom. laundry scent for when you need to do your laundry.

Do not be dissuaded by the off-putting topnotes. I nearly scrubbed Kitten Fur off because the first 30min were SO gross -- heavily chemical plastic laundry musk mixed with men's cologne (reminds me of a muskier Le Male at this stage). The plasticy phase burns off eventually, and what you're left with is a clean musk tinged with vanilla and milk notes. It's not very sweet, but the vanilla is noticeable. I imagine there's also facets resembling cashmeran, orris butter, or sandalwood in the mix -- something creamy and warm. The comparisons to DK Cashmere Mist are apt at this point. This perfume sprays out with an oiled consistency, and so it feels so luxuriant to rub it into the skin and it sticks around furrever! This is my first Demeter fragrance, and I'm impressed by the uniqueness and performance of this scent, all at a very affordable pricepoint! I will not be buying this because I already have an HG vanillac buttery comforting white musk (C.O. Bigelow's Musk) that I consider superior to this in every way. But if you're on the hunt, check this one out :)

If my cat smelled like this, I'd just wear him! What a strange little gem! I remember when it first came out and all the noise on this site. I just won it and several other Demeters in a giveaway, and it's a great surprise. In fact, all 6 Demeters I received are very nice! As others have mentioned, I get sweet, spicy, cashmerean, rubber, leather, musk. It's definitely a "skin but better" scent. Let's not fool ourselves on the quality. While I have many cheapies of quality comparable to high end scents, this one doesn't smell or perform like high end. And that's ok. These are more of a fun splash when you don't want to take life too seriously. After the initial blast, the whole thing settles into a nice scent with a bit of an astringent note. I think that's the "Demeter-ade" that they seem to have in most of their scents. Perhaps the carrier or alcohol? Worth a try. Fun scent for the crazy cat lady or man in your life!

This was a blind buy for me...I like it! The dry down is very nice! It reminds me of fragrances that I wore as a young girl. Let's just say, Demeter's Kitten Fur is quite nostalgic. It is quite similar to Victoria's Secret Dream Angels Heavenly and Victoria's Secret Vanilla. Not the vanillas they have on the market now, but the vanilla fragrance they had in a purple ergonomic bottle. Kitten Fur is very similar to the man's scent: Cuba Blue. And, I, also find it similar to the ladies' fragrance Bellagio. Kitten Fur is creamy, powdery, very vanilla, and musky. A nice break from the gourmands and fruity-florals of today. Does it Smell like the fur of a kitten: No! It smells very nice though--it has a hint of a subtle, sexy-innocence. It projects well and lasts for many hours on the skin.

I must admit I bought that for the name - Kitten Fur was one I just couldn`t resist. Not sure actually. Initially, I absolutely loved it - powdery, vanilla, slight musk, something cool which I associate with winter but also a lot of warm tones... Not exactly like my cats, but nice, and very feminine - I would definitely not market this as unisex!! I found it very long lasting, still smelt it on myself in the afternoon, but somehow I found it slightly less pleasant than I did this morning or last night when I had a first try. Its probably just a bit young for me (42). I would definitely recommend it, but I`ve got a feeling I will not buy the full size for myself. But that`s what samples are for :)

My cat died earlier this year, and in a sad girl moment of vulnerability, I ordered it one night. As the other reviews say, it doesn’t smell like a cat or kitten fur at all, however, you can see how a perfume that has this scent could be named kitten fur. The first time I wore it I was very disappointed and felt it smelled off putting. After a month or 2 I gave it another try and I love it. If the top notes are too much for you, I find doing the spray and walk through the mist brings out more of the creamy vanilla smells. The spray is kind of oily, so it seems to have some real lasting power. It’s such a good value, and I enjoy the scent so I could definitely see myself repurchasing!

A lot of Demeter fragrances to me have this sickly sweet smell to them that I just can't place my finger on. This is sweet and powdery, but not as "sticky" as others. Think vanilla baby powder. I was hoping for a more musky, animalistic smell, but I still like it. This smells less like an actually kitten, and more like the idea of a kitten and a baby napping together in the sun while mom is making an angel food cake in the kitchen. Too sweet for my every day, but nice. It does layer great with Demeter's Clean Skin! This one lasts a bit longer than other Demeter smells. I still get whiff's of it hours later

So I had to buy this at some point as a cat lover. It is so cheap, wonder why it took me so long to order. Does it smell like my cat ? Not really ... but is it some sort of musky sweet warm and very slightly animalic scent ? Yes ! I would not say it smells natural but it's not a synthetic mess either. Smells a bit like when I wash my top quality merino wool sweater that has been sprayed with a generic sweet floral fragrance. Not bad at all. And it just survived my shower ! For 20$ that's impressive. So if you love musky skin scents in general give this one a try.

Ok, so it doesn’t smell like my cat (sad face) But I don’t hate it! It’s kinda strange though, at first it smells a-lot like male shaving cream but I think that’s because it’s a cologne. It dries down to sweet vanilla, slightly powdery. It’s lacking in something to me, I would give anything to smell like my cat! I wish it had more musk, salt or a warm solar accord to give it that cat like smell. I will still wear this for layering or even a stay at home scent. She’s cute!

Picked a bottle of this up at the grocery store. As I also happen to have a kitten in my possession, I decided to do a side by side comparison. Demeter Kitten Fur: A slight, pleasant, powdery scent with a hint of musk. Does not snuggle into my chest when I hold it. Inoffensive, skin scent. 7/10. Real Kitten Fur: Smells like fish flavored cat food and slightly like pee- she might need a bath. Meows in my face and cuddles into my chest while purring loudly. 10/10.

i also blind bought this off the website. first impressions were ummm very sweet and soft, like vanilla and milk bread. its so good ojhh my god i wanna eat it ggrrrr....and very warm and comforting. after a while it started smelling more vanilla-y and powdery. it doesnt smell like my cat at all, i was expecting a more musky and neutral smell, but its a very nice fragrance! my brother said it smells like clean laundry, and now that i think more about i agree

My two kitties (when asked for their opinion) said that this reminds them somewhat of "Oriflame Pretty Swan". I concur. I get a pretty, musky, tonka, some light floral, perhaps a wee bit of powdery rice. Yep. They're right. Kitten Fur is charming. A bit sweet, not an animalic in 'sniff'. Now, I've had the pleasure of smelling many kittens very closely, and you know what? This scent, to me, smells like the inside of their ears! Really. I like! :)

Reminds me of a stuffed animal that came in a box sealed with plastic holding in the fresh made stuffie scent. Cozy, soft, warm. Artificial but not unpleasant. To me it's that sort of fur instead of actual animal. Some musks are described as "your skin but better" and I could see choosing this as an alternative to one of those. It smells cuter than Jovan. Radiates about 6 inches after ten minutes. Linear. An easy and inoffensive dailywear.

I had no idea what to expect with this scent, but I got a soft sweet powdery scent that is really pleasant! It does cause me to envision a soft kitten. This scent is not very complex or deep and is a pretty straight forward clean sort of scent. I think this would be perfect for the office or work. It almost gives me a lotion sort of vibe as well. It’s definitely a “your skin but better” fragrance.

I would wear this in the spring and summer. In my opinion, it's fresh power with a slight musk. I didn't know what I expected as it didn't list any accords or notes. But I think it does have this clean, almost slight hand sanitizer and laundry smell. It's incomparable to my actual cat, who smells like grass, evil, and canned salmon. It's a nice fragrance if you'd like to smell clean!

I get the idea they're trying to convey with this fragrance. It's cozy, warm, and comforting. It's nostalgic in a very general way. It doesn't make me think of anything in particular, it just takes me back to childhood. It's powder-forward and a little sweet. Not the heady powder fragrances from the 80s. Much softer and sweeter. I love it and will definitely wear it on its own.

This fragrance is very soft. Soft notes of powder, musk, vanilla and just a touch of floral notes. It is a warm scent that is good for every day use. I really enjoy this fragrance, just wish the scent was a little stronger! I want to add to this, I had a couple of my friends smell it and they said it smells like bug spray :( I don’t get bug spray at all when i smell it.
