Lilac

Beautiful, beautiful fragrance, and my favourite lilac soliflore. It is a 90% photorealistic interpretation of the flower precisely because Demeter did not add any extra sweetness to the scent (the pitfall of many other lilac soliflores). The last 10% though is a powderiness that makes this a dead ringer for one of the first makeup products I had ever purchased: a small tub of loose powder from a Japanese brand that has been sadly long discontinued. I'd always loved that scent and was thrilled to find it again in this gem. Ah the nostalgia!

The nicest of the Demeter range in my opinion. A stronger scent that most of their other fragrances, in the sense of silage and longevity. A real lilac scent, nothing artificial here, charming, romantic, delightful, has a sweet vintage air, and a timeless beauty.

This smells just like the lilac bush that is flowering in my backyard right now. I was looking for a replacement for Pacifica French Lilac, which is also very realistic, but unavailable where I live. The Demeter version smells the same!

Probably my favorite from Demeter. Spot on! I have the perfume and the room spray. I'd say it's a soliflore ...there's just a teeeeeny, small, miniscule hint of green in there somewhere, and it makes it all the more real and fresh.

So far the more realistic lilac scent I came across! Lilac is my favorite flower scent of all the flowers in the world and this one is spot on!! I feel like spring is all around me when I wear this one! Love it!!

I got the rollerball perfume oil of this one. It does smell pretty, though not the most realistic lilac I've ever smelled. It actually reminds me of Pacific, B&B, and other like brands. Maybe they all use the same aroma chemical company as their supplier. IDK, but they all smell pretty much the same to me. I considered getting the edp spray, but since this was so cheap on fragnet I thought I'd give it a shot. If I liked it, I would have purchased the edp. I do like it, but since it smells almost the same as the Pacifica I already have, I'll take a pass.

Lilac is gentle, delicate yet strong and Demeter have nailed the single scent. It opens well and authentically itself and that is all. When you pick a wild flower it fades quickly. So does the scent. If you need a pick me up and cannot find fresh bunch of lilac for the country pottery vessel fear not Lilac by Demeter is here. This scent has the delicacy of all things wild that cannot sustain or be complex.Lilac mimics lilac perfectly. Sometimes that is all you want. Simple and beautiful.

this is a nice, powdery, dry lilac! not unlike a scent you might find in a makeup powder. lasts literally ages, considering it's a demeter. unfortunately i'm looking for a wetter, greener lilac that I found in a Japanese bath tablet, like a lilac in the rain, and this is not it. update: selling this. something in the drydown is bitter and synthetic and makes my stomach turn. i get these with quite a few demeters

Though this frag is darling on its own--truly an impeccable lilac scent, I agree with the reviewer who said this was good for mixing. I mixed it with Bliss, which is also a fairly linear scent, and the result was heavenly. I plan on layering it with LOTV and grass essential oils to see where it goes. I would imagine most of the Demeter scents are good for experimenting this way.

I grew up with lilac trees around my house. Demeter nailed this scent perfectly, it is unmistakably lilac. I won't be wearing this, because it's an extremely strong smell, and too floral/perfumey for my tastes. However, it makes an excellent air freshener anytime I want to make my house smell wonderful or be reminded of summers back home.

Very interesting. Smells very lovely & fresh & accurate. I wanted to find something in hyacinth, but that's a difficult fragrance to find. Lilac is close to hyacinth is freshness & floral brightness. Great scent, glad Demeter made it. I don't otherwise care for most of the other scents Demeter has.

This smells like spring! This is a true lilac which smells sweet, fresh, and slightly spicy. I purchased several single note floral samples from Demeter including Lilac. This is wonderful to wear on its own but it might be fun to blend with lily-of-the-valley too.

I have the rollerball, and I love it. Whenever I want to smell lilacs, there it is. I think the oil might have macerated a bit; it is quite potent, I find, and I sometimes layer it with the French Lilac hair mist by Pacifica or another lilac-forward scent.

STRONG lilac, a mix of green AND powdery to my nose. too overpowering to be a bedtime scent for sure but will keep you smelling fresh and pretty through the day. lasted forever on my skin.

Just picked this up as part of a set (along with Bulgarian Rose and Lavender) and it is very nice. A bit light as it does not last long but perfect for a warm spring or summer day.

It's a nice, pretty realistic lilac. It lasts for a couple of hours on skin and even longer on clothes, so the performance is good for a Demeter. I like it.

Wow! This scent is so realistic and lasts very long! I definitly recommend it to anyone who loves lilac just as I do :)

Absolutely beautiful. Smells like springtime in a bottle.

I was looking forward to trying this, because I love lilac flowers - they remind me of my childhood, as my backyard had a huge white lilac bush and every spring the smell of them was glorious on a warm spring breeze. Unfortunately this Demeter was a miss for me. I got the rollerball. It does smell of lilacs, and it's pretty and gentle, but it's not the intoxicating, eyes-roll-back-in-your-head, Homer Simpson-drooling scent that I was hoping for. It does have greenness and it's attempting to be a realistic lilac, not a perfumey one. But it's quite weak. I was it would be a lot stronger and more... lilac-y? It does smell a little off, not like the lilac bush in my backyard. I really have to put my nose directly on my skin and inhale to the point of nearly passing out in order to even get a good whiff of it. So meh, it's like a 5/10 for me. I would definitely take A Drop D'Issey and Jessica McClintock Number 3 over this, even though they are more perfumey lilacs.

Lilacs are my favorite flowers. When you grow up on a farm w/ lilac bushes you become attached to the scent. I have lilacs at my home now and look forward to spring every year just to smell them. I have always wanted a lilac perfume. I have searched in vain and still haven't found one. This one is ok but it smells like so many others I have smelled before. It just isn't realistic enough and something about them just goes sour on me.. The only perfume that gives me that lilac "feeling" while not actually smelling like lilacs is Providence Perfume Co Love in a Mist. I love the price point of this company but the things I have sampled just haven't worked for me.

I love sticking my face into a branch of lilac blossoms and inhaling deeply. There’s nothing better. I thought I wanted to smell like that, but after buying this, I just prefer it in nature and not on me. Oh well.

I love how the smells on paper. on paper it's smells so photorealistic, but on my skin it smells a little funky. It's a very random, difficult to place funkiness though. I love Lilac no.4 by universal flowering because it captures the animalic funkiness lilac can have, but this funky smell I'm getting isn't right. It almost smells spoiled.

The scent of lilac is just about my favorite scent in the whole wide world, but sadly, I do not love Demeter Fragrance's take on it. I wanted to love it, but it is too heavy and it almost makes me nauseous. To me, it smells like overblown lilacs. There is something foul in the scent, a hint of something that resembles rot and decay.

I bought a sample of this after watching a few Demeter reviews, to me this smells very soapy in a bad way. Like, grandmas soap bar. It doesn’t smell fresh or sharp at all like I was expecting.

Ever since I got my hands on Gucci Guilty (the one in the tall flat half golden bottle) after falling hard for its lilac note, I've been on the hunt for another lilac fragrance. Lilac by Demeter felt like a safe blind buy and I was right. I like the brand simply because they deliver any note that I can think of. Well this fragrance is pure lilacs in liquid format. Freshly cut, slightly soapy clean but avoiding the dreaded shampoo smell. With both creamy cool and warm aspects of the crisp pale purple flowers. There is that lilac spice in the heart with just enough "headiness" but a minimalist version of it. This is a fresh floral that will please most people who like lilacs. As authentic as it can get in my opinion. Poor to mediocre staying power, as is the case with many Demeter fragrances. But it's cheap and the small bottle is perfect to carry in the bag. Reapply generously and smile. Spring is here.

Lilac Time! An Old-World concept, roughly similar to Shangri-la, Camelot, and Halcyon days. ...and it's great to have it in a spray-bottle for year-round escapism, especially one that just lasts a couple hours so you don't get sick of it. But Marck, does it really smell like lilacs? Well, it's certainly fresh and full-flavoured enough to avoid that cruel 'laundry detergent' jibe. (Though 'they' are making cleaning supplies better smelling every year...) Of course, in truth, lilc is always a synthesized accord in perfumery, so some artistic license must be allowed. All the same, I promise, next April or May (Lilac Time) I shall go out and sniff the shrubberies just to make a direct comparison.

I agree with the review below....amazing sillage! This is a dream when mixing and experimenting too. Lilacs are one of my most favorite floral scents. This Dememter brings back memories of my childhood when I used to play with my friends across the street from my apartment building at a local church's back yard. There were lilac bushes everywhere. The soft powderiness of the flowers made it such a treat when running around the grounds. The aroma was fascinating to me, and this just took me back there. You can mix 1 spray of this with 1 of Demeter Patchouli and 2 sprays of whatever linear vanilla you have and make the most beautiful creamy floral dream of a fragrance!

A pretty, soft, powdery lilac. It lacks the snap of green I like in a lilac, but it's very nice. Super feminine. The sillage is moderate and I only get around 4 hours longevity from it, but I don't really mind that at Demeter prices. I like layering this with their Cucumber fragrance for a lovely, crisp, hot day kind of feel. I'm not a fan of full price perfumes intended for layering, I tend to think of it as gimmicky. But Demeter perfumes are so cheap that it's well worth it - plus, they do work well as stand alones. Pretty, floral and powdery. It doesn't satisfy my search for the crisp green that often comes with lilac, but it is very nice.

This lacks the stemmy green notes that true lilac has, but it isn't bad for that. It's a sweet, creamy lilac blossom scent without edges and I'm rather loving it. Lasts surprisingly well for a Demeter, which has a history of scents that fade quickly. Demeter also has a history for fun and quirky scents, though, so I'm willing to take the early fade for the fun. Lilac has lasted for an easy five hours so far and I can still smell it. Lovely.

I had been thinking of buying this scent for several years...I know, it is cheap it should have been easier to make that decision. Anyway, I finally got it and I am very happy with it. It's very realistic, it smells like a bunch of lilac flowers with some greenery. Very fresh and delicate. It doesn't disappear right after a few minutes like some Demeter do. Very nice and true lilac scent. I got a full bottle for $23 online.

The Demeter is okay (certainly better than the Caswell-Massey, in my opinion). Something about the Demeter Lilac leaves me a bit disappointed: maybe it's too powdery for me? Maybe just a trace of herbalness, which I do not like? I don't love it, and I don't hate it. I found that it lasted for several hours on me.

It smells more like a lilac cream than the actual lilac blossom. It is missing the warm aromatic scent that "Yves rocher pur de sir de lilas" has. (the original made in France bottle not the US version). Unfortunately discontinued... sign.

Basic but REAL watery moist Lilac! Smells a lot like Pacifica Lilac. Demeter does "real flowers" extremely well! Some of their "fringe" scents fail and some are amusing however. P.S. Shocking longevity!! I get all day whiffs!

I received this in a Demeter pack. It is quite realistic, one of the most realistic lilac fragrances I have smelled. Again, the longevity is poor as with all Demeter really, so requires frequent reapplication.

This is for the oil: It's flowery and powdery. It doesn't last long and I'm practically the only one who smells it when I wear it, but it transports me to a purple cloud. I do like it!

I like to combine the lilac with the riding crop (leather) fragrance. The leather lasts longer than the lilac, but both are nice individually and together.

A pretty, powdery lilac as opposed to a fresh, green lilac. A nice and simple floral scent for anyone who is eagerly awaiting spring.

It's pretty but too "classic"/perfumy; I'd stick with Pacifica if I wanted an ultra-cheap lilac.

I am liking this one. Smells like spring! Nice and simple.
