Mountain Laurel

If you’re looking for a photorealistic Texas mountain laurel scent, you will be disappointed. This reads as a generic, powdery floral. It doesn’t smell bad, but it isn’t anything special. That being said, this has no sillage or longevity whatsoever. I put it on and it’s gone in 60 seconds. Overall, you’re better off with another powdery floral.

Ew, whatever this is it's incense, soap and something nasty synthetic stuff. I got a roller oil version of this along with my other samples for free and I could barely comprehend or appreciate it as it's a very synthetic scent.

Everything is wrong, everything is a lie, ...at least on this page of Fragrantica. This Demeter Mountain Laurel fragrance smells NOTHING like either California Bay-laurel (Umbellularia californica) or Grecian Bay-Laurel (Laurus nobilis), ...and by the way, those two species also smell NOTHING like each other. At one point this fragrance, was marketed/rumored to smell like Texas-Mountain Laurel (Dermatophyllum secundiflorum), ...but alas, this does not possess any of the strong 'grape soda' (methyl anthranilate) aroma associated with that flower. There are other plants called Mountain laurel, most notably several species of Kalmia, ...but they are not readily known for having a strong or distinct floral bouquet, ...though a light fragrance is sometimes reported. So what does this Demeter Mountain Laurel actually smell like? Mostly just a vague and forgettable light, fresh-floral scent. It's bland even compared with any average laundry detergent or air freshener scent. ...though it might have still made a better proxy for Lily-of-the-Valley, than the bland stuff that Demeter actually puts in their Lily-of-the-Valley bottles. What I want to know is why doesn't Demeter get in contact with Fragrantica and try to clear up some of this confusion. I'm beginning to think that brand is just running on auto-pilot now.

The Library of Fragrance version is an adorable, innocent and dewy fragrance. No camphor, no spice. Smells like a dimestore perfume from the 60s or 70s and very nice.
