New Baby

This is probably my most favorite "baby" scent ever and I've only had this in 3 days. Im a huge fan of baby/children like scents to name a few I've had petit et mamans, baby tous, ptisenbon, baby touch, demeter baby powder, demeter baby shampoo etc. Usually baby scents tend to always lean either neroli/citrus or on the powdery side. But this one almost leans on the gourmand side. There is a milky, vanilla, confectionery sugar kind of note that I keep on getting. And I can't get enough of it. It's honestly addicting to me. My first sniff to this in the store, It only vaguely reminded me of the baby scents Inwas used to. But when I tested it out in my skin, It really did smell very baby like. I keep getting wafts of a baby scent. I can't pinpoint what baby product smell this is. But it reminds me so much of something that's used for babies. I can understand why they took them 15 years before they decided to release this scent. So they can perfectly encapsulate the baby scent

A lovely, light scent ...the kind any age or gender could very easily wear. This is quite similar to Demeter's Clean Skin, but without the musk and more powdery. In the top 10 frags from Demeter, imo! EDIT: I've just bought a new bottle of this (last one was from 2015 or 2016) and it's got a touch of gourmand vanilla in it now. Still lovely... despite my gourmand fatigue I still love it!

It does not really smells like a new baby, but its a very nice light scent. A lighter version of Kiehl's Patchouli & Fresh Rose with a hint of powder . Keep in mind that most if not all Demeters fragrances are very VERY light. I blind bought this and am happy I did.

The name drew me in. It smells like soft sweet warm skin. Comforting, only slightly gourmand, and powder fresh. The scent is pretty light like most demeter fragrances and longevity is poor but it's sooo worth it.

Reminds me of a sweet drink like ginger ale or a shirley temple more bc of the sweetness and fizzyness than the exact flavor.

hey I also got this at tj maxx haha. I saw some demeter bottles on the shelf and had to choose between New Baby and Bonfire. I went with the one I thought I could actually wear in public and it's a hit! I bought a big bottle after I went through that small one. I wear this to work most days. it's casual enough, not immature even though it's literally a baby scent lol. I don't think it would be too obvious on a blind sniff that this is baby themed. smells like baby powder with a hint of like... iced lemon pound cake?? or a lemon sugar cookie? well, not really gourmand per se, but a sweet lemon and vanilla seem to be here somehow. smells nice on my clothes even after a long day, but doesn't project much, which is fine by me. I wear it in all seasons.

Soft and powdery. A comforting scent vaguely similar to the Johnson and Johnson's baby lotion in the pink bottle. Less than arm's length scent bubble. One hour longevity. No regrets on getting the 5ml sampler from Demeter's site, but I used it up faster than I'd use 2 ml of a higher priced perfume just to get a couple of days wear out of it. Not sure if that means I liked it so much I kept reapplying more than I would with a perfumy-perfume or it's evidence of how weak the scent bubble is. I doubt I'll rebuy but I'd use it up if it came my way again.

In the country where I live this is being sold as a "Library of Fragrance". The scent is not so much like baby powder but more like the old 1990s eyeshadow scent, in my opinion. :) at least this is what it reminded me of immediately once I smelled it for the first time - the old eyeshadow palette my mom used to own when I was a little kid. I loved this smell, it reminds me of my childhood. The longevity and sillage is something between weak/moderate, but better then their Baby Powder cologne. However, it's still more of a bedtime fragrance.

Firstly, let me say that no new or older baby ever smells like this unless it has been thoroughly wiped down with a whole pack of baby wipes. The initial 30 - 45min I only get an overwhelming, almost nauseating baby powder-candy-vanilla-ish scent. After that it gradually and surprisingly turns into a very pleasant fresh laundry smell which I could sniff all day long. Unfortunately Sillage is monstrous only during the baby wipe phase after that the scent stays close to the skin

I wear it before i go to bed or on days when i 'm home and i don't feel like wasting my more expensive perfumes. It smells just like baby powder, don't expect the cute scent of milk and caramel that comes off a baby's head. It's talc. Not bad, not great, just a cheap, decent, pleasant fragrance.

This is so light, lovely, and fresh! Fresh in a sweet, clean way, not a harsh chemical way. Powdery and pink. I have never smelled a new baby, but I am tempted to after trying this (it's not kidnapping if I give them back, is it?)

Demeter has captured the scent really well, the name fits the fragrance. It is unique and I can't really compare it with any other fragrance.

Got this as a free gift and was expecting to hate it because I’m not a fan of babies lol. I actually think the scent itself is okay (reminds me of the frosting on those packaged sugar cookies you can get at Walmart) but it barely lasts. Idk what note the “baby” part is supposed to be because all I’m getting is vanilla and sugar.

New Baby is a simple baby powder scent. As someone who likes simple fragrances and powdery notes, this is still a little too one note for me. I like how the powder in Kitten Fur smells better than in this one, maybe because Kitten Fur has a bit more musk.

If Demeter Baby Powder smells like the Johnson & Johnson baby powder, New Baby is more the Huggies mosturizer that is sold right next to it in the drugstore! It still as that powdery effect that scratches my nose, so i personally do not like this one! In fact it has more powdery notes in it than the baby powder one. It's a no for me!

Not sure what this smells like. It's not a new baby for sure. Maybe of some washing detergent or similar. In a bad way. This is the only one that yet I have not thrown in the trash bin but I guess I would not resist and soon it will be with its mates there.

Fragrance Review For New Baby Demeter Notes: Guess Congratulations! It's A Girl! New Baby by Demeter is a sweet charming baby powder and smooth baby body smell to die for. I have the spray bottle, the matching body lotion and shower gel. This is perfect for wearing right after a shower or bath and while it doesn't last very long it's uplifting sweet and easy to wear as a pick-me-up scent, preferably before bed; that is after a shower and before bed. Let me start by saying that this is highly feminine and clearly the new baby you're smelling is a girl. That being said, this fragrance can be unisex too because it's a sweet shower scent and anyone can pull it off. It does smell very youthful. After all what can be more youthful than a newborn baby. This fragrance tried to evoke the feeling of holding a newborn baby in your arms. That moment when a mother first looks at the baby she just finished giving birth to. It's supposed to be a touching moment but hard to put into a fragrance. I smell powdery notes, a touch of vanilla in crushed powdered form, some spices and perhaps a little rose violet or peony flower scents. It's mostly powder, talcum powder and baby powder mixed together. It's like smooth skin that is clearly younger than yours. It's delicately soft and tenuous, fragile, and you immediately feel like you can sleep with it. It's like a little scented cloud. I wear this only to bed. If I wear this out in public I think it would be mistakne for Johnson and Johnson Baby Shampoo. Great for inducing pleasant dreams before bed. Feels good after a shower. This is a very cute baby girl you just want to hug! I love the Demeter fragrances and have had so much fun wearing them. They are not meant to be taken as seriously as a Chanel or Dior. They do make a statement but it's usually a light hearted one. I wear this to my girl friends' baby showers. I always feel like I'm the only one that doesn't care about having babies but I do love how babies smell, especially the tops of their heads. Every time I go to a baby shower I feel likethat Seinfeld episode with Elaine on Long Island visiting a girl friend's baby and that same girl friend keeps insisting "Elaine you've got to have a baby". I would respond by saying "I have a baby thank you very much. It's this baby perfume. Love my new baby." LOL

First of all I like the simple baby powder idea. A little bit regressive, a little bit cosy, and a hint of provocation : only mature people (I mean in their head, whatever their age) can be relax enough to consider the new baby smell concept on themselves. But on my clothes, this powdery lemon catches a weird old cigarette smell. Something a little bit rancid: cold tobacco, ashtray. As I don’t smoke, I got two times the question: did you go to a smoking place today? So, not for me, sadly! What a deception. The quest goes on. Edit : I kept trying it and it’s working better on my skin, but awful on any fabric. I can’t really understand why but at least, I can now enjoy it. Lemonade, sugar, smashed humid babycakes, cold celluloid bath toys, old talcum and a drop of orange flower?:-) Edit 2: no I can’t, in the bin it ended.

This fragrance starts out with a big cloud of baby powder, which initially drowns out all other notes. However, after the first ten minutes a warm, mellow vanilla begins to emerge and continues to develop over the course of a few hours until it shares center stage. It's not a sugary, cakey kind of vanilla, more of a creamy, warm skin scent. New Baby transforms into a balanced, subtly sweet scent with a touch of plasticky doll's head. The only part of this scent I'm not sold on is its slight resemblance to Skin So Soft bugspray. I smell a whisper of a slightly medicinal, bitter, alcoholy accord that I'd prefer not to notice. All on all, a safe, warm, and comforting smell good for wearing aorund the house.

As the mother of a toddler, I ordered this blindly from the Internet hoping it might remind me of my precious baby chapter from last year. But nope! It really is just baby shampoo and something citrusy. It definitely fails to capture any of that actual, natural, real, baby scent intrinsic to little babies everywhere and made of that inimitable milk breath, caramel fontanelle, clean baby skin and hair. I find it offensively synthetic.
