Pistachio Ice Cream

updated review: for me this opens up strongly like sweet almond extract/almond liquor and not like pistachio at all. then as it fades it turns into artificial pistachio and sweet vanilla but not like in an off putting synthetic way. i rlly like this smell although it’s not as accurate as i would have liked however the longevity is horrible. this lasts less than half an hour on me even when i tried layering it on top of lotion and spraying it on my clothes. something i love about it is how well suited it is for layering with other fragrances bc of how simple and compatible it is with other scents. so far my favourite combinations with this perfume have been the sol de jenero 71 as they blend so seamlessly and it brings out the macadamia note in the 71. also baccarat rouge 540 as i just love a gourmand layered with a woody more amd the mix of saffron and pistachio had u smelling like a persian dessert. and my absolute favourite combination is with Tom Ford lost cherry. the warm vanilla nuttiness is the absolute perfect pairing for the strong perfume.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Ben & Jerry's Pistachio Ice Cream is one of my favorite flavors and I gotta say... Demeter's Pistachio Ice Cream is FREAKING DEAD ON! (If you haven't tried the Ben & Jerry's Pistachio - think Hagen-Dazs Pistachio.) It truly smells like the ice cream tastes. I'm not talking about the cheapo extra dyed green pistachio ice creams - but the creamy rich nutty sweet ones that make your taste buds and olfactory senses jump for joy! It is a nutty, sweet, creamy kind of delicious. Great scent! Nice by itself and I bet would layer really nicely too. Pistachio is the new Almond! LOL. Downside = does not last long...but what Demeter does? Upside = 120 mL between $18 - $32 USD depending where you buy/find. ps - who ever voted on the accords - saying this was smoky? was likely smelling a fire in the distance or smoking! there is NO so called 'smoky' to this scent.

Not disappointed at all with the smell of this one. Great creamy pistachio scent, it is exactly as advertised, a pistachio flavored ice cream. It is sweet but not overwhelming, it's a milky kind of sweetness with the nutty pistachio accent. I love it. Longevity is actually not so bad as I already expect short longevity from Demeter, but I can still smell it from wrist 5 hours after even if oh, so light. Update: Got complimented on this one recently at a restaurant. The lady seated at the next table beside me said she was looking around for what dessert was smelling so good and she can't see any. She realized it was me and asked me what delicious scent I was wearing because she'd love to wear it all day. I guess it wasn't that light-smelling after all. :)

HOLY wow. THIS IS PISTACHIO in a bottle!!! Sadly, though, the initial blast only lasts about five minutes at best. Then, it just turns into kind of an almond-ish, sweet, skin scent. I will say that I've had this for several months and, having had it for this long- I think it may have macerated, because the pistachio is even stronger now, than when I first got it! Still, that initial perk does NOT last. But, I swear, it's worth having for my own pleasure to spray and just sniff for the wee few moments! Also- I have been layering it atop of my Black Opium Illicit Green (which I LOVE), and together- the two scents smell absolutely divine!

First whiff is extremely impressive! It smells 100% spot on to Pistachio Ice Cream. Not like “good for a fragrance”, I mean exactly like that. Indistinguishable from the real thing. Amazing. It stays basically the same as it dries down. Gets a tad bit softer. More musky and more warm vanilla, but only slightly. Mildly coconutty. Gets closer to semi-sweet pistachio butter. Remarkable. The new warmness makes me believe this would be a fragrance that could be worn any time of year. Since the longevity isn’t the best, you just might need to reapply it in the winter. Still, I highly recommend this.

I feel so lucky that I don't have any scent memories linking this to any kind of bathroom vibes like the reviewer below ;) because this is a complete LOVE for me! This is 100% pistachio ice cream to my nose and on my skin. Delicious, simple and delightfully fun! This is just a perfect light hearted scent that I pull for when I am in the mood for something simple, sweet and comforting, it has more depth and lasts much longer than a body spray. I highly recommend for anyone who likes this type of scent profile.

Simple and lovely. Very long-lasting for a cologne. It just makes you happy, perfect summer scent. I first bought it when it just came out, and pistachio scents were not yet in fashion. So people commented on how lovely it smelled, nobody could figure what it reminded them of, but it made them smile, like a forgotten happy memory. And it is. It smells exactly like a Pistachio Ice Cream. So that's your young and happly self, in the summer, with an ice-cream cone.

I love this so much It smells EXACTLY like the notes, so sweet and creamy and edible. I just wish it lasted longer and projected more because the rollerball barely lasts like an hour if I’m lucky. I have to constantly sniff at my wrist to remind myself that it’s on there. I think I’ll have to get the spray to see if it’s any better. Agreed that it definitely gets softer as it dries down to nothingness but the first initial application is so good everytime

I got this along with Thunderstorm as a roll on oil perfume in a bundle sale on Demeter Fragrance. This is very milky just like pistachio ice cream. It smells exactly how it should. My only complaint is that it doesn't last long. Tip* Demeter Fragrances last longer in hair and on clothing than they do on skin. They are great for layering. Kit•sch Pistachio Latte hair perfume can't compare to this at all btw.

This smell has so many memories and love associated with it! The sweet, casual nuttiness of this scent is perfection. This is girly, but like... a cool girl. In Chicago, the Walgreens on State Street, you can actually smell all the Demeter regular line perfumes and purchase them. This is my favorite Demeter smell and I hope to expand my collection in the future. Ice cream parlour fantasy <3

This is my favourite comfort fragrance, plus it lasts forever and ever. It truly smells like my favourite iced treat. There's a moment of synthetic discomfort but that quickly fades into a creamy and nutty treat. Is this a gourmand? Who knows, but I love wearing it.

Literally smells like pistachio and vanilla ice cream. I’ve been wanting a dominant pistachio fragrance for awhile now and this did not disappoint. I’m not getting the plastic note I seen some people comment about thankfully! Such a yummy smelling fragrance.

I don't get the complaints, this is a great lactonic greeny nutty scent, a photorealistic pistachio ice cream perfume ❤I just wish it was stronger and lasted longer :/ it smells like the real thing btw if thats what ur lookin for

anyone else getting a strong almond extract top note? i love it but to me it smells more almond than pistachio and settles into a light soft vanilla. not sure why my experience is so different to others but still lovely

I bought this years ago before the big pistachio craze. I've since tried many pistachio fragrances, but this one remains the truest pistachio pudding smell. It's very sweet and straightforward. I love it.

I love this scent!!! It smells amazingly nutty, creamy, sweet and delicious! It does smell slightly like almonds but the note is not overpowering. It is a very balanced scent. I love it!

It reminds me of pistachio pudding. I love putting this stuff in my hair because I feel it lasts longer. worth the price!

I LOVE the scent. It just doesn't preform well. 2 1/2 to 3 hours on skin and about 3 to 4 on clothes.

I love this brand because they are so whimsy, which is a brilliant concept after all. The names of the perfumes are always straight forward and smells exactly as the names suggest. This is no exception. It really does smell like a freshly scooped pistachio ice cream from an ice cream stand on a hot summer day. In other words it’s very delicious! But even though I love gourmands this is too heavy to wear. And I feel that people would be somewhat confused if they smelled this on me, because as I said - the notes are always few and straight forward which makes them lack depth and complexity. I don’t really know if I want to smell like a pistachio ice cream. It’s not juvenile, it’s just weird. I still enjoy it though, but only wear it at home when I want to snuggle up

I've tried more expensive pistachio scents and been disappointed by a few. This is pretty nice. I have the rollerball and it smells very accurate in the bottle but less accurate on my skin. I'd be curious to try the spray on clothes. In the bottle it reminds me of a pistachio cake I like to make. On skin, it's a bit powdery at first, not in an unpleasant way, and it reminds me of amaretti or some other powdered sugar covered almond cookie. It's definitely more baked good at first and the drydown becomes more lactonic. I go back and forth on whether this is a pistachio or more of an almond. Either way, I'm not complaining for the price.

incredible performance for a Demeter, especially on fabrics, but also skin! it's a vanilla-pistachio-almond, creamy yet light that smells 'cold' when first sprayed. i don't find this to be uncomfortably synthetic. while not photorealistic like smelling a cup of pistachio gelato, this is really great. if I lost all my Demeters in a freak accident, this is the first one i would repurchase. update: want this to last ages? Spray on fabric!

I don't get the complains. It's straight as it is, pistachio ice cream, or maybe pistachio cream cake. It's stays forever in my hair and I just smell like pistachio desert. It's not complex or multi-layered like most Demeter fragrances. For 25$ it's difficult to get better than that. I think I've smelled weaker pistachio perfumes from brands selling them for more than 200$ (like DS Durga Pistachio).

It's been over a year since I reviewed this. Not even joking, this is 1:1 identical to Kyse Frangipane al Pistacchio. I have no clue why that comparison has been voted down - is it cope from the people who own the Kyse? They are EXACTLY the same, down to the unpleasant powdery drydown

At first sniff, just like pistachio ice cream, then it fades out to soft sweetness. I have this is lotion form and it's very delicious to wear. I do agree with other reviewers that there is an almond note that is masquerading as pistachio here, but it works.

Wonderful opening. Smells exactly like pistachio ice cream. It dries down to a sweet coconut scent. I like it on its own or layering. The issue of this particular fragrance would be performance. Relatively weak longevity and sillage. Leans a bit feminine.

That cooling, ice cream scent that hits you when you walk into an ice cream parlor? This is exactly that. The "nut" note is subdued. It is pleasant but difficult to find an occasion for! It would almost do better as a room spray. It's kind of an oddball.

I like it but I wish it weren't such a faint scent. Maybe in a lotion it would last better...

I was unpleasantly surprised. I was hoping it would smell like the pistachio praline gelato at Messina... No. No no no. This is not the Dubai pistachio chocolate treat of your dreams. Raw pistachio, almond, heavily lactonic. No actual sweetness to this, which I hoped would be the case because of the 'ice cream' description. But no no, this is pistachio almond milk. Technically gourmand: yes. But, a typical crowd-pleaser for gourmand girlies? NO!! Avoid blind buying, particularly if you have discrepant expectations like me. Making the most of this by layering with other gourmand scents I have. It's not offensive or anything, but just not what the label/description implied to me.

First blast of sweet green creamy pistachio... Artificial as hell, of course. More like a coffee flavouring syrup than anything near authentic but can't really complain about quality when the price is so low. It turns to burnt plastic and a rubbery smell after a while but is still aspartame sweet. This was a blind buy back when I obsessed with everything pistachio.. never again. Unisex but leans feminine and best for temperate weather. 6+ hours later: The scent stays on that slightly burned plastic note through the drydown. Faded from my skin at about the 5th hour.

Smells vaguely like Pistachio, but nothing like ice cream. It is nutty, but in a flat way. On my skin it reminds me of the Queen Helene's coco butter lotion I used in the 90's. It Has a heavy alcohol that takes awhile to disappear, but after there is almost a cherry note. Honestly smells very much like almond extract that you bake and make frostings with, nothing special. Sorry to say, but I was disappointed. It is a layering scent, no projection. Could not smell after a few minutes. Probably something you could mix into a body lotion.

I have been on the hunt for a sweet pistachio instead of the green that I seem to find in every pistachio scent. I really wanted to love this but there is something in it that makes my head hurt instantly. The scent is not bad at all though, but to me it does lean to the green food colouring filled chemically flavoured cheap pistachio ice creams rather than something with real nuts and body.

This reminds me a little of Elie Saab Girl of Now. Because of the heavy alcohol smell upon application, this smells somewhat boozy, like pistachio or almond liquor. Not really like ice cream, but still interesting. I would have loved for this to have more of a roasted pistachio scent with lactonic notes and sugar.

I like gourmand stuff, but this one makes me nauseous, just too sweet, too creamy, too much. Tried to layer it with other things because the pistachio part is actually really nice, but couldn’t make it work.

Initially I’m hit with a blast of authentic, delicious, realistic pistachio ice cream. I was so excited to wear it! But within five minutes of wear, it morphed significantly. The bitterness of the pistachio all but disappeared, and I was left with only very synthetic vanilla, reminiscent of the scented my little ponies and other sweet smelling toys I had as a child. After 10 more minutes, the pistachios nuttiness peaked out again, but only when my nose is 2cms from my skin, where as the vanilla has sillage projecting a metre away from me. Sadly this means that to anyone else smelling this on me, it is just a synthetic vanilla bomb, unless they are well within my personal space bubble, and that makes me not really want to wear it in public because I would rather go for something more refined and mature. I can see myself picking up the bottle and smelling it every now and then, and reliving the joy of the initial scent blast, but I’m not sure I would want to wear this on my actual skin, given that the joy wears off quite quickly.

I read carefully about this because I love the smell of pistachios and I'm really targetting to get as much pistachio perfumes I could get my hands on. So imagine my disappointment when I couldn't relate to the rave reviews from almost everyone here. When I sniff the nozzle or cap, it smells divine. It's that sweet pistachio scent I would die for. But sadly, on my skin, it smells super synthetic. I can't even smell any hint of sweetness or pistachios. It's just not pleasant at all. I sprayed it on a cloth to test (bec. maybe it's just my skin chemistry) and it smelled so much better although I still get that off-putting synthetic smell if I smell too closely. But, at a short distance, it's okay.

Upon first spray, it smells like a sharp almond boozy liquor. Leaves an oily residue on the skin. Once it dries down the sharp almond smell mellows out but the scent fades pretty quickly and I cant really smell it at all after 1 hour. Definitely doesnt smell like pistachio ice cream. Overall pretty disappointing and I will try to sell my bottle.

This is neither ice cream nor pistachios! Pistachio ice cream is my favorite one, but it is hard to believe that the smell of this is even close to it. Instead of pistachios it is similar to almonds or almond dessert, but very synthetic. The Silage and longevity are both weak. Except all this, it makes the skin oily! A big disappointment!

Dissapointed. This arrived and smelled Sooo good in the bottle. Perfectly creamy and nutty with just a bit of sweetness. As soon as it’s sprayed on skin or clothes it turns into not necessarily a windex smell but more like the cleaners you smell at a car wash

Not a huge fan. I don't get pistachio at all. It smells like coconut on me, a smell which I love in food but not in perfume.

This opens up smelling like the Jell-O Pistachio pudding, or should I say the way this pistachio pudding tastes. It also reminded me of the real pistachio ice cream I used to eat as a kid every summer in the streets of Plaka in Athens. The opening scent lasts, while with the Almond perfume, the opening almond scent changes rather quickly. Theyre very close, but I definitely detect differences. This doesnt smell exactly like almond to me, altho it is close yea, it might contain some, but I do not picture chewy almond cookies when I spray it. Both Demeter's Almond and this one are very nutty, but the Almond perfume at first smells like the chewy greek almond sugar meringue cookies (with some rosewater), then like roasted sugary almonds, and you are left with a very sugary colder skin scent before it fades completely, no vanilla connotation, no cream or butter, nothing. This opens up similarly as if it contains some almond, but smelling truly like pistachio pudding, thats what I picture (or should I say crave!) so it is slightly greener and deeper than the almond perfume and also colder. It also develops on my skin just like Demeter's almond perfume, sugary, but it becomes even thicker. The almond perfume turns kinda plastic, not in a bad way, more perfumey than food-like, but very much like candied almonds, very sugary, not as nutty anymore. This one stays nutty much longer and becomes slightly perfumey and aromatic as time passes, but more on the vanilla, sweet creamy side, so this is why it could be more crowd pleasing. It smells like 2-3 notes, as opposed to their Almond perfume. It doesnt turn plastic on me, just thicker, deeper, slightly warmer than the almond one, even though it is also a colder scent and as if there is vanilla or milk&honey, and kinda like the cocoa-butter lotion type of smell, its possibly the ice-cream note. Very beautiful overall, a true gourmand. Longevity/projection isnt the best, like 2hrs or so. It is more wearable than the Almond perfume, even though I love both. Also DUA's Pistachio Almond Cream smells pretty identical to this, cold-toned like this one with moderate warmth, but less aromatic than this, so to me this is the best in this league. Also, DUA's Pistachio Cream Delight is much warmer than these two.Pistachio Cream Delight is a warm nutty milky scent with a plastic undertone at first like the DUA Be In love with pistachio Gelato, but it behaves better on my skin so the plastic effect fades in seconds leaving behind a warm, milky almond-y Tonka scent. It's more like almond-centered than pistachio due to the tonka so that's the only issue, but it's creamy and not congested with heavy contrasting notes. The pistachio scent blooms on my skin in the mid phase but again it smells very milky within the "white milk" theme imo. Pistachio Ice Cream by Demeter is a colder more true pistachio scent and they pair great together.

Pistachio Ice Cream is one of the few fragrances on this planet that can remind me so intimately of childhood. It smells exactly like described which, to me, reminds me of going to a cake store in a suburb near me called Greensborough. My mum didn't exactly have much money, but one of the loveliest rituals we had when I was growing up was coming to this store and ordering a pie for lunch and then either a jam donut or pistachio ice cream for dessert before heading to an op shop to pick up some books and, if I was well behaved, a gameboy game. I don't really have much to say about the scent because it just really smells like the label says, but it also smells like these Sundays. We did all of this, went home and I may have played my Gameboy for an hour or two or possibly went for a bike ride. Very lovely trip down memory lane.

I wanted to love this so much, even if it is just a pick-me-up spray. The smell is so scrumptious on the nozzle (sweet, toasted coconut almond cookie) and when spritzed, it's even more deceivingly delicious: the most spiciest, red hots candyish, cherry-sharp almonds (spicier than marzipan), but then it quickly morphs into what everyone else is noting below: burning plasticky rubble. I wish I knew what discounted Faustian bargain Demeter made with the devil to have their scents so good for one half of the journey and then so horrible on the other. A total scrubber.

Does anyone else detect a very noticeable burning or smokey vibe from this? I certainly do, and it's quite off-putting. I let the scent dry down for 3 hours and I still get that burning smell. I also pick up the smell of stale nuts, like when you buy a can of mixed nuts around Christmas and eat half, then forget about it until June and then make the mistake of trying to eat them. I wanted to like this, since many other Demeter fragrances are very close to their description, especially the pineapple which is my favorite scent of theirs.

This is a toasted almond cookie. That's all. There is no heavy creamy notes to indicate ice cream - and if there are they are not apparent. Instead of that delucate pistachio I smell an intense artificial almond extract and roasted notes that altogether make it smell like an almond cookie. My OCD won't let me wear something that's called pistachio ice cream but smells like a toasted almond cookie. They need to change the name - I would wear it for Christmas.

My grandmother is the coolest lady I know. I introduced her to flaming hot Cheetos, and she forever changed my life by giving me my first bowl of pistachio ice cream. Demeter’s fragrance smells exactly like our favorite sweet treat; it’s practically edible. Definitely going to layer this one and get my Granny a bottle so she can sniff it when she gives up junk food for Lent. It’s that delicious!

I bought this because I wanted something that smells like pistachio, but without floral notes. Unfortunately I’m not getting pistachio or ice cream from this. It’s more like almond cookie with a sprinkle of coconut? It’s okay, but I was hoping for more of a pistachio scent. Lasting power is a couple of hours.

have y'all ever smelled those generic bubblegum pink air fresheners in gas station restrooms? that's what this smells like. an almondy playdough scent, very sweet and flat. if I didn't think of gas station bathrooms i might like it, but unfortunately that scent association totally kills this one for me.

FragranceX sells a wide range of Demeter perfumes for £18 a 120 ml bottle so it's a fun and inexpensive way to try their different fragrances. Luckily I like almond notes enough to keep my bottle. The other bottle I own is Asian Pear which smells very pleasing.

I can't review this because I just heard about it this moment. I have crazy about pistachio nuts and pistachio ice cream since I was 8 years old! I want to try this although I never thought about smelling like pistachio!
