Pruning Shears

This is a lovely green leaf & tea-rose scent, like a drier, more herbacious Tommy Girl, or a simple minimalist variation on a Rose de Rosine scent. It combines the fresh faintly waxy scent of torn yellow rose petals with a touch of the sweet fruity rose you get in rosehip tea or rose petal jam, and some green stemmy crispness. Quite pretty and a very good value for the price.

This is a light rose scent with a metallic edge.

It's very similar to their Bulgarian Rose fragrance and I was hoping for more of the metallic note to create this atmospheric edge. It's still nice for what it is and I do see myself using it up but I'll have to pair it with something else to add the added metallic layer it's missing.

Delightful. I was looking for a rose like this. (Yes, it is a rose scent in case the name didn't tip you off.) A cool, blustery summer day, the blooming rosebushes are damp with water. You have just cut a large bouquet of leafy branches. You leave the leaves on and inhale. Yes, you probably did use a sharp implement to cut the rose stems. (More likely secateurs, than pruning shears.) But if the Demeter marketing team hadn't hammered that over our heads with an absurd name, I don't think anybody would be thinking about metal gardening tools at all. (Now only the easily suggestible do.) Who knows? Maybe Kurkdjian (of Baccarat fame) did try to convey some sense of rust or WD-40 in this scent, but what really comes through is not metal, but rather a complex, green, backdrop to the roses. This green accord seems to have elements of brewed tea leaves and wine leas, so maybe more of a composted brown-green note. Overall, there is a horticultural mood to this scent, so maybe the nominal pruning shears are intended only as a vague metonym to set the scene. Still, I don't know if naming this scent 'Pruning Shears' did it any favours. I suppose it generated some random curiosity at first (and it was fun to get only one result on a Fragrantica search.), ...but frankly a name like 'Garden-Fresh Roses' would have communicated the theme more elegantly. In any case, Pruning Shears is now discontinued. I'm just grateful that I got to smell it.
