Saffron

I was shocked by how deeply I fell in love with the scent, mostly because I thought I was taking a gamble. I wanted a unique, single-note scent to mix with my florals, and it delivered! It is intoxicating and smells expensive, lasts longer than expected, and falls outside the gender binary—it can be strongly feminine or masculine, adding decadency and sensuality. It is great worn alone and captivating when mixed with other scents.

I was pleasantly surprised at the complexity of this one. It smells like the inside of a spice shop, complete with wood resin and old canvas. The spice is warm and unsweetened. Good longevity and projection for a Demeter. Great when layered with rose or another floral, though spice lovers could probably wear this alone.

Surprisingly complex. Yes to saffron, yes to smoke, yes to wood, and yes to that deep amber that binds it all together. I originally bought this to layer with some of my other scents but it is perfectly capable of standing on it’s own!

Edited after layering with this a few times: it’s really nice. It can really class up a fragrance or pull it in a spicier, more mysterious direction. And at the price point, easily a staple.

Right from the start you get a strange savory flavor that's almost curry-like, aside from that there's an okay semisweet golden saffron note (I was relieved at first) until the same burnt rubber note from Leather kicks in (Ugh!) and completely dominates the composition until it weakens shortly after (Thank goodness), which ends up turning into a somewhat spicy, leathery, tobacco-like thing that's neither very saffron nor very gender neutral.
