Earthy, raw, hot ginger and brisk lemongrass. Pungent headiness is uniquely exotic without being cloying/generically spiced. Strong wood-stain notes pair with ginger and matures in a way that feels like walking into the wood-paneled lobby of a high end hotel. Compelling contrast between bright and deep. A little too brusque/earthy to be classy, but close. Appreciate that it doesn’t remind me of food, which would have been too easy/cheesy. I always over apply Demeter and this projected fine. One of the better Demeters.

Certain fragrances from Demeter are lasting enough to be worn as perfume or cologne, such as the fresh Ireland fragrance from the Destination Collection. Others are more of a novelty product that make you sit in awe of how accurate they are for the few minutes they last. This one fades to a skin scent within a few minutes for me, so it’s definitely in the latter category. But, during that time, it smells EXACTLY of phanaeng curry, and I love it. It would definitely get a 5-star rating from me if it would last.

Tried this at my local Demeter shop today. The first spritz opens with a delightful zesty burst of lemongrass, Kaffir lime and ginger - a perfect reproduction of that classic Thai spices scent, makes me long for some Tom Yum soup. Unfortunately, this impression stays more than a few minutes only on a blotter - when I sprayed it onto my skin, the beautiful fresh fountain faded within a minute and settled into a greasy Play-Doh base with nothing Thai about it. Sillage and longevity non-existent, as is the case with most Demeters.
