Vanilla Cake Batter

i've been on the hunt for a perfume that smells exactly like glossier's birthday balm dotcom and when i saw the notes of this, i was really curious and got it. the initially spray was not what i expected at all; it was sour, eggy and i thought i got a bad batch because it almost smelled like expired milk. after spraying it, it smelt less of that and more like vanilla frozen yogurt which was really nice! and after it dried down, that was when i got hit with the smell of vanilla cake! it smells really sweet, but not powdery. the smell disappears almost immediately, within the first hour i would say, but it's still a really lovely smell! unfortunately, it smells nothing like glossier birthday balm dotcom and the scent disappears really fast

A very synthetic cake batter scent, but 100% on the nose. Smells exactly like uncooked cake batter in a plastic bowl. I suggest layering with another gourmand scent like a caramel apple or straight vanilla to balance out the synthetic twinge that comes on the end. EDIT: After being sprayed in my hair, it dried down beautifully and smelled exactly like when you first open a cardboard box of Pilsbury birthday cake mix. If you can muster the first 30 minutes to an hour of burnt plastic smell, this will be a wonderful scent to wear in hair or clothing. And for me, it lasted that way for an entire day until I washed my hair again. Just very sweet.

It is a really real representation of the real life thing, vanilla cake batter! It is vanilla-y, in a modest, quieter, simply vanilla way, plus the home-y gramma’s kitchen feel called to mind by the wet, cool smell of goo-y batter. Vanilla Cake Batter is so far the only sweet foody scent from Demeter that I find not too overwhelming, and I can comfortably wear day to day. It is somewhat a comfy scent close to your skin, and gives the carefree feel of childhood.

smells like a vanilla scented candle.Was hoping for a little more buttery sugary cake batter,sadly only vanilla candle on me.I have the oil rollerball,and projection is nil,longevity,maybe an hour.I purchased nine different Demeter scents back in March,and this is the first one to be tested.I was hoping I would find one I liked well enough to buy a full bottle.This one is not it.

I had this in high school. It's a very sticky vanilla that feels simultaneously heavy and light like actual cake batter. I liked it at the time, but I eventually got tired of wearing it so much. Maybe someday I'll get a new bottle for nostalgia. It's a good one, but try in samples or in-store before you buy.

upon first sniff, this smelled like extremely oily cake mix, eggs included & stale three day old pillsbury vanilla icing. after it dried down (into bascially nothingness), it just faintly smelled of flour and melted candle wax. major trailer park birthday vibes

It is a cute fragrance, and smells like a cake. I like sweet scents and this one is nice. Not much more to describe it as the name says it all. I would spritz it on my linens to have softly scented sheets, as the scents last.

I was really excited to try this one and I definitely have mixed thoughts, but it’s still a nice scent overall 🤍🍰 The initial spray is exactly what you’d expect. It’s a super photorealistic vanilla cake batter scent. It smells thick, sweet, and really true to that creamy cake mix vibe, which I loved at first 🧁✨ After a few minutes on my skin, it does change quite a bit. The strength softens and the cakey richness fades, and it starts to come across more like a vanilla scented candle. It has that slightly waxy, smooth vanilla feel rather than a rich bakery scent 🕯️🤍 The sillage is quite soft as well. It sits very close to the skin and feels more like a personal scent that you catch in little moments rather than something that projects a lot!! Even though it’s not as cakey as I was expecting, it still smells really nice. It’s just more of a clean, cosy vanilla rather than a full on gourmand dessert 🤍🍦 Overall, I do like it, I just went in expecting more of that cake batter vibe throughout. If you enjoy softer vanilla scents that lean a bit candle like and comforting, you might actually really like this one 🤍✨ EDIT: DONT OVERSPRAY THIS PERFUME... I just did this and oh my god it smells toxic

I have the roll on version and it smells like plastic vanilla. It doesn't last more then two minutes. Maybe the spray version would be better. Best suited for children. I think they could have done a better job on this. If you want to get this save some money and get a bottle of vanilla extract at the grocery store.

EDIT: Ok, so after spraying it for the day I noticed that it’s not a creamy vanilla like you imagine, actually it’s a very nasty synthetic note with weird chemical vanilla as well... Perfumes normally fade into base notes, but this one makes the « chemical vanilla » disappear, even the fake weird creamy note. The only thing left was that WEIRD and REPULSIVE plastic rubber scent... so disappointed I had to sell it ! The worst is that, it’s not the first time that Demeter fragrances turn this way, happened with at least 4 fragrances out 5.

So, this really does smell like vanilla cake batter - for a few seconds. It's not actually very sweet. My quibbles are that the tangy / batter note can go a little saliva-esqe or metallic on me sometimes. Also the longevity and projection are not good, even for Demeter. The scent is also rather cheap smelling and chemical. Though I like the interesting batter aspect that distinguishes this scent from the millions of other vanilla-centric fragrances, I don't wear it.

i have the roll on oil for this scent. loved it for the first few months i had it, but eventually forgot about it in my collection. just sniffed it again and i'm suddenly getting this sour scent from it that i'm not loving at alllll. longevity nor projection have ever been any good from this oil.

Smells nasty, exactly as a previous viewer said "a vanilla scented candle". It smells like straight up wax. It's so sad how the company couldn't get this scent right. It's sweet for a moment and then it's not.

Heavenly, quiet, sweet vanilla without that commonly found buttery base that is so prevalent in popular vanilla scents. And not too ultra-vanilla as if it were actually from the kitchen cabinet! Bought the small roll-on today and I may just zoom back out later and get the larger spray-on bottle...the scent wafting from my wrists is perfection! Soft, delicate, and,despite what has been written previously, not too foody in my opinion. I may have found my perfect perfume at Rite Aid when I was least expecting it!!! EDIT/UPDATE: Awk! The spray version is so different than the roll-on one I reviewed! Just went to buy the spray and didn't after trying it out. Experienced the plastic smell I'd read about in reviews here! I'll enjoy the roll on and leave it at that.

I have the perfume oil and it has almost no sent to it. I can only smell it for about 5 minutes before the sent is gone but my skin remains oily for hours. The sent is true to name but is so light that only the wearer will smell it. My boyfriend always makes a comment on the perfumes I wear. When I put this on the first time I asked if he liked it and he said he couldn't smell it. I was very disappointed. Maybe the spay perfume has a stronger sent than the oil...

i love this scent so much but it fades to a skin scent immediately after drying. Before it dries its lactonic creamy vanilla cake batter freshly made but before being baked. It smells like an old cupcake yankee candle my mom had growing up. I wish I could pay more for something stronger that lasted longer. If you like the lactonic upper sinus feel of this i recommend "milk wasted" by kheimistri, I don't think it's in the fragantica database yet.

It gives Betty Crocker box cake mix. Can smell the butter, eggs, sugar, etc. Smells freshly mixed and ready for the oven. Absolutely delicious smell, feels like your mom making you a box cake for your birthday. Would be incredible mixed with an icing/funfetti scent. Drydown lends more to a true vanilla than a vanilla cake mix, but still a scent that feels edible.

Artificial, chemical scent, sour,cloying and just awful,something in it make my stomach churn. I don't know how to describe this scent. Maybe I got a bad bottle,but it smelt nothing like Vanilla cake batter. The Vanilla note was not what,I smelled. I got a free sample with a purchase,and threw it away after several sprays.

The perfume is a perfect vanilla scent. It’s strong but isn’t too vanilla-y where it gives you a headache either. If you want to smell like a vanilla birthday cake I suggests that you use this perfume + the vanilla birthday cake soap by philosophy. Unfortunately this scent does not last long which makes me very sad :(

I have gotten the roll on perfume oil of this one, and i have no idea if i received a bad one or is it naturally giving off vinegar? It slightly fades to a creamy vanilla, but i can NOT stand the initial musty smell. I think i need to test out the perfume version to make up my mind

For whatever reason, any cake batter type scent I’ve tried performs the exact same. The first blast is a beautiful cake batter, but that immediately fades into a fake plastic vanilla smell. This one is no different, unfortunately.

This smells like sweet vanilla pipe tobacco. I get that feeling of walking through the airport and seeing an older man with a nice pipe hanging out of his mouth enjoying himself. Not much like Cake Batter.

I purchased the roll-on, and it smells good - just like everyone else said, it does smell exactly like cake batter. For about 3 minutes. Then... poof...gone... :(
