Vanilla Ice Cream

This is BY FAR my favorite demeter fragrance so far. Its all about preference in my opinion but I love Gourmands especially vanilla based ones. This smells exactly like vanilla ice cream 🍦. Its milky vanilla ice cream on top of a sweet wafer cone. This is the kind of ice cream that would come from a nice parlor with kindhearted workers and a nice atmosphere. Its the kind of ice cream that isn't too hard or too soft but you have to eat it fast because its melting! Definitely reminds me of summer though it may be too sweet for the heat. I do get the freezer feeling on initial spray but then it warms up. The freezer isn't nasty or messy either. It the cleanest freezer fully stocked with your favorite ice cream. When you walk in it cools you down from the heat outside. Demeter does simple Gourmands very well I've noticed and this is one of them. Its simple vanilla ice cream. You get what you asked for with the name. I wanna test this out in cold weather because I feel like it would do well. Something in this reminds me of the holidays. I also want vanilla cake batter hopefully they are different enough to keep both! :) lasting power isn't too bad either compared to the rest of demeter fragrances. One thing I noticed though. When people buy demeter fragrances they get upset when a fragrance smells exactly like what its called witch confuses me. When you get this your getting vanilla ice cream. Nothing fancy or high end. Simple good ol vanilla ice cream. :) Edit: the longer it stays on my skin the warmer and more wafer like it gets. Almost like slowly eating the ice cream down to the cone. And the cone is kinda softer because the ice cream is melting. Still really good! Its also long lasting on me.

Extremely buttery and rich! It doesn’t smell like vanilla ice cream per se, but it’s still a really nice vanilla. It’s not that sharp powdered vanilla in most cheap perfumes or candles. It’s like a salted crème brûlée without the burnt sugar. I mix this as a base with spice gourmands and it gives a comforting depth and thickness that I haven’t gotten elsewhere.

Cheap vanilla ice cream on a wafer cone or in a wafer sandwich; it has a toasted, almost burnt vanilla with evaporated powdery milk scent. Reminds me of being a little girl messily eating an ice cream cone in the heat of summer. It’s a sweet familiar scent. 🤍🥛🍦

I reach for this quite a lot just recently! It’s so sweet and I get loads of compliments when I’m wearing it! Somebody even told me once that I “smelt good enough to eat”! Cheap enough to buy to use as an everyday perfume. Great blind buy!

This smells sooo good!!! I feel it smells like caremel popcorn more than Vanilla Ice Cream... It's pretty weak in longevity and sillage... But it's Yummy, so whatever!!

I also smell cotton candy (maybe the sweet note?) and I smell coconut. Not lasting but projects decently.

Warm vanilla cream with sugar, that's what I get from this.

This isn't your expensive, fancy, artisan ice cream with specks of vanilla bean. Nor is it the soft white Mr Whippy cone with a chocolate flake, bought from the local ice cream van. No, what this is, is the tub of yellow "Wall's Golden Vanilla" ice cream that your mum bought in the seventies, lifted out of your deep freezer replete with ice crystals clinging to the surface, and scooped into a ball to fit into a wafer cone. Or perhaps sandwiched as a block between two flat wafers for you on a summer's day, to be eaten wearing sandals, or better yet, barefoot on the grass, before running, shrieking with your friends, through the lawn sprinklers. It's the memory of drips that melted into little sticky yellow puddles on the hot pavement, and the slightly chewy remnants of melted, frozen, and re-melted ice cream, that you spooned from the corners of the tub before throwing it away. Demeter's Vanilla Ice Cream doesn't pretend to be fancy or complex, and it lasts an hour or two perhaps before fading like a memory. But what it is, for this Brit at least, is seventies childhood nostalgia in a bottle.

Have you ever tried Nescafé instant coffee with sugar, evaporated milk in iced water and ice cubes? In my country this coffee is called "Nescafé frappé" and I enjoy it a lot especially during summer. Now this frag has EXACTLY the same smell with this coffee. Unlike Nescafé frappé, this scent is not for summer. It's sweet, very creamy and milky, with coffee in it! Thus, it's most proper for cold winter. It's rather dense for hot weather... I like it a lot! It's very gourmand, very delicious coffee/milky/creamy scent!

i was hoping for a more explicitly colder icy vanilla, which is not really the case with this for me. i wish i interpreted it in that way, like others have. i think it is a melted yellow ice cream. i still really love this scent. there is definitely a baked/burnt sugar note in there, slightly gritty. basically someone won't smell it without knowing the name and go , oh, yep that's vanilla ice cream! but it is a little aquatic and synthetic if you squint

If Demeter's Vanilla Cake Batter is a warm vanilla, their Vanilla Ice Cream is a cool vanilla. I personally like the warmer vanilla more. I do have to say, this is surprisingly authentic - it even has a slight freezer smell! If you want to smell like an ice cream shop, grab this one! ;)

This perfume reminds me of a cold Caramel Vanilla milkshake. It is very good and has no plastic smell to it or anything weird, very straight forward. The only thing is that it is definitely not a long lasting or radiating perfume but I like that the smell is very accurate.

definitely vanilla, but not icecream more like a vanilla biscuit. a bit too sweet even for me who loves gourmands but not bad Edit: cannot stop smelling it so i have bumped it up to a like, still doesnt smell cold to me though

This smells like vanilla, but not particularly cool to my nose. More warm, with a lot of honey to it. I just don't get the ice cream part, though it's a perfectly pleasant vanilla. Not synthetic or harsh at all.

This is straight-up generic vanilla ice cream ...the store brand, the kind that tries for a buttery flavor and ends up being a bit salty. No vanilla bean that I can detect. Still, a fun scent.

There's a wafer note which I swear is just like that rain on pavement scent that I love, but I only notice it on first spritz then its just cold vanilla.

Sweet creamy warm vanilla, not unlike every vanilla scented candle. I gave it to my daughter she says the kids in her class think its cupcake.

The key is not to take this one too seriously... Yes its a short lasting, silly vanilla waffle cone scent, but oh its fun to play with...:) For an experiment...I put this on at work a little before people started taking break times. I did this for 5 consecutive days... There were 9 ice-creams purchased that week! Kid you not. The week before there were 4. The week after I finished there were 5. I'm not much into vanilla as a stand alone scent, but Whiff of a wafflecone has been one of my go to scents for the last few months. I wanted this to be like my pairing splash that I could use all willy nilly, but it's just the type of vanilla that gives me a headache at first and then while it does become a lot more likeable upon drydown, but it's without the cool sweetness of ice cream that I hoped for.

Vanillin with a tiny bit of milk and a burnt plastic note. I can't say if the burnt note persists, as the scent is fleeting and only lasts up to an hour on skin. I don't love it.

There is a biscuitty, dry, warm-spicy smell in this that I'm not a fan of. It's a nice enough vanilla but it's not giving ice cream.

It's a gourmand for sure, and in my opinion, a sickening one at that. Vanilla Ice Cream is really strong on the vanilla. If you've ever smelt vanilla essence straight from the bottle, it kind of smells like that. It's the strong, chemical and syrupy vanilla, not the light, sugary and white vanilla we're used to. After the top notes settle, there is an obvious caramel note which kind of draws away from the vanilla ice cream that Demeter is attempting to re-create. By the drydown, this smells like a vanilla flavoured milkshake, not ice cream. Like most Demeter scents, this fragrance is pretty weak in both sillage and lasting strength. I've come to the conclusion that it may be difficult to re-create vanilla ice cream in all its icy foodiness. For starters it's a hard scent to describe.

i bought this after trying a few other demeter fragrance scents - all of which smelled exactly like what they were on the bottle! however, to me, this one was a big letdown. on first spray after opening the box (i was unable to sample in store as i live in the uk!) i realised i had made a mistake buying this, it smells exactly like a cheap vanilla candle, the kind that make your head hurt when you inhale them. imo it definitely does not smell like vanilla ice cream. it smells VERY artifical and almost nutty! <3

Incorrectly advertised: no vanilla ice-cream, only the waffle cone. Ok when layered with I Love... Raspberry & Blackberry for the first 30 mins. The dry down is quite salty, slightly burnt and sweaty. In short, unpleasant.

Gabby said this smelled like icecream waffle cone. All I get is vanilla candle. Review of dumb blind-buy. Decluttered.

Disgustingly sickly sweet. I cannot STAND it. I gave it away to a friend.

I'd looked at Demeters online before I was really aware of or interested in perfume, so when I came across a tester for this in a shop I quite happily scooped it up and gave my wrist a spray. It would turn out to be a regrettable decision. And possibly an explanation for why the Demeters where all sitting on a shelf off to the side of the locked glass cabinets with their sample bottles of Dior, Gucci, and the like. I did not smell anything like vanilla ice cream. It smelled like something sweet, burnt, perhaps with a touch of the waffle you might put (in this case non-existent) ice cream in. My mum turned her nose up and said it smelled like Elnett hair spray. At first I kind of liked it, even though it wasn't what I had expected from the label, but that changed. Before long I wished I wasn't wearing it - not even Rochas Tocade, that makes me feel a bit queasy, has done that. Tocade remains a well-crafted scent that can easily be described as 'pleasant', even by me. The same cannot be said for this; it felt very cheap and unpleasant. It wasn't something I can ever imagine wanting to smell like again. Did I just pick up a tester that had turned, misleading any hopeful would-be buyer into running away from anything Demeter again? I'd have to try again to find out. Strength -- Quite strong, from what I recall. Longevity -- Not sure, it certainly stuck around longer than I would have liked. I think it took a good few hours to stop smelling it?

Very buttery waffle cone, which I actually like a lot. Similar to Unknown Pleasures from Imaginary Authors without the lemon. If you like a fun gourmand and your favorite Jelly Belly flavor is buttered popcorn, you will enjoy this scent.

Sweet strong Vanilla cream, but also there's some sort of bread, waffle cone note as well, like a Vanilla ice cream cone. It's a bit distracting. I wish the milk note was more noticeable but I can't detect it.

i don't have any idea about this perfume,,i never smelled it,,but sure it's yummy..and i want to buy one.. bec.my husband loves VANILLA ICE CREAM..

Blast of alcohol which settles quickly. Then a melting, buttery vanilla ice cream scoop on a waffle cone comes through. This is lovely!

very fruity gourmand. yummy and delicious scent. short lasting power but so food-like. fun!
