Witching Hour

Gothic baby powder with licorice and spice. I love this. Such a pleasant surprise from Demeter!! Perfect for Fall, and I think the name suits it well. It reminds me a bit of Oriental Lounge by the Different Company mixed with Serge Lutens Feminite Du Bois. That being said, the opening is straight-up cleaner/sanitizer that's used at a day care center... then it goes a bit floral and settles into dark, spicy, powdery. Give it about 15 minutes to develop... it's worth the wait.

I'm surprised at the negative reviews. This fragrance is gorgeous in my opinion. It's definitely a sweet, powdery floral. It doesn't remind me at all of a cleaning product. I'm currently wearing it, and I've gotten compliments on it. There might be a body chemistry thing at play here because I don't find this fragrance even slightly offensive.

I got this perfume on a whim, wanting to try it out without busting the bank. upon first opening i was hit with a really strong alcohol smell, very similar to spiced rum. it was a little off-putting at first but i noticed that smell went away when worn and over time became very subtle when opening. doesn’t fill a room with smell and has pretty low wear-time but that is a plus for some! i personally didn’t get the powdery floral notes other reviews mention, and instead got a very saturated citrus scent. not a bad smell by any means, but i don’t think the floral notes are very present at all, at least on my skin. i did get compliments on it when i would first spray it though! witching hour grew on me with time but by the end of the bottle i wasn’t thinking about repurchasing. would love to buy again to retry in the future.

Smells like vanilla coke to me hehe. It doesn't give me scary, brooding witching hour. It's cheekier and more light-hearted, much like Elvira herself (noting that this fragrance was originally Demeter's collab with Elvira previously called Elvira's Sexy Witch). Which I don't mind that take. But note that like much like Demeter's colognes, this one is also here for a good time and not a long time. Which is a bit disappointing as I have found the other renamed Elvira colognes to have decent longevity, so this one definitely falls down the list for me compared to others from the same collection.

I happen to like this scent. It's not a serious purchase, just an easy, wear for a few type frag for me...I like to mix it with a vanilla coconut perfume. Honestly? It smells like Dr. Pepper, IMO..I probably won't buy it again, because there is no lasting power. But it's okay for the price... definitely do not smell cleaning products, or anything like that.

When I saw blood orange listed in the notes for this, I was pretty sure I wasn't going to fall in love with it because I'm not a big fan of citrus scents in my perfumes, but I was willing to be proven wrong because I love the name, and I love amber. But this scent doesn't conjure up anything witchy for me. It's a very, very fresh and clean kind of scent, but also manages to smell kind of artificial and very "perfumey" at the same time. It's an *aggressively* clean fragrance, reminiscent of a deodorant soap like Coast or Irish Spring, or maybe some kind of air freshener. It's not very sweet at all, but more astringent feeling, a little like a men's aftershave. It gets slightly sweeter & more powdery as it dries down. I'm really not sure how this scent comes from the listed notes because it's nothing like what I was expecting. I don't actually smell oranges at all, but this one still isn't for me. To compare with other fragrances in Demeter's Dark Flowers collection, I would say Transfixed>Vampire Blooms>Witching Hour in terms of how each scent lives up to its name and coveys a dark, mysterious kind of vibe.

Doesn’t particularly stand out to me. A plain amber scent. Something to put on when I’m not going to leave the house, but want to feel put-together. Longevity on me is about 3-4 hours.

i like this in the bottle, but on me it turns into citrus cleaning soap. like the oxiclean wipes. :(

Vaguely citrus cleaning supplies?

I generally really like Demeter, but this particular scent just misses the mark. I also generally love amber, but apparently bunches of it can't save Witching Hour. This smells like an air freshener or cleaning product, not a perfume. I thought so the first time I tried it, but wanted to give it a second chance. It smells like the polar opposite of anything witchy, dark, or mysterious, and I don't get anything resembling vanilla or blood oranges, either. Just a synthetic deodorizing kind of smell. Eau de Airwick would be a much more fitting name; too bad they wasted such a good one on this scent! (Try their "Transfixed"-also from the Dark Flowers collection- instead; that one's gorgeous, dark, and decadent!)

I’m getting Windex and not much else from this. It’s not offensive at all, but very chemical cleaner. Probably fine as a room spray.

Unfortunately on me the opening smells like bug spray and the dry down smells like pink public bathroom soap.

Smells like old perfume bottles that secondhand stores smell (but shouldn't). Not pleasant at all. Very heavy.

This smells exactly like the doctors office when you sit in the sanitized room on the paper sheet lol

made me physically recoil. smells like spicy rubbing alcohol.
