this is very unique! there is a wonderful indolic juicy citrusy smell in the opening which is mixed with lavender and ambergris. later turns into a (green) woody, salty, slightly animalic note. tobacco is all around all the time, but never classic and simple. it's smoky but it's also moisty... the whole composition is very well blended and forms one unison scent that is very original, refined and at times unclear (but in a good addictive way). you can feel Prin's exotic, new and contemporary approach to perfumery. Act is not for everyone (which is good).

I love this one! It's a citrus/animalic combo, but somehow the citrus last a long time. It's very unique but super wearable and extremely well priced

This is so unique. I mean, just looking at those notes alone, it's like 'did you randomly pick them?' Many Der Duft fragrances seem to be like that. It doesn't always give a scent that I love or crave or identify with, but it does give an experience, something fascinating to keep sniffing at. With ACT, I definitely get the pool association, and probably the cypress gives more of a sauna vibe. It's not a wellness spa where the chlorine is absent or masked - no, the chlorine is definitely there. But I don't dislike it? Also, as my partner pointed out, the initial sharpness is mellowed out by something that he described as a flower honey like sweetness - you know, the pollen honey you get from a quaint organic shop. Overal it makes me feel healthy, wholesome and outdoorsy. I don't agree with other reviewers saying it's masculine. It defies such categorization.

This changed so much. It was piney and bright to start, and then ended up smooth and soft but still clean. I like it.

Smells like soft ambroxan, lemon pledge and coriander. Smooths down fairly quickly but it's still dusty. It's likely fine on someone else, but this is a pass for me. Reading the notes and reviews and comparing it to my skin and my nose: cypress and moss for that dehydrated dusty herb scent I called coriander, citrus fruits for the lemon pledge, and the ambergris and musk is provided by ambroxan. I don't get a meaningful amount of tobacco and what I do smell isn't high quality (it's the scent of standing next to someone who's tapping a Marlboro Red out of the pack) and no smoke and nothing very animalic. It's not sweet, but I wouldn't call it masculine. This scent isn't roping steer or chopping wood. It's asking if you want to hear about today's lunch specials. Gender neutral to my nose. I did a skin test in a cool room. Perhaps this needs a warmer environment to bloom but I don't live in one.

A very musky fragrance that reminds me very much of the drydown of Zoologist Camel. I don't get big citrus from it, just a lot of synthetic musk, the bitter orange is there but not dominant. What you will get is a piney, mossy, musky smell mixed with lavender. Very baby-powder like, long-lasting without massive projection. Nothing here really that has not been done before, I would say that it is definitely more of a masculine scent.

Both ACT and CANVAS have this very prominent chlorine note, reminding of a swimming pool. These are OK fragrances leaning very masculine to me, so it's difficult to access the notes for me.

I love this man's work, but this one isn't a favorite. The opening and drydown are very different but both kinda disappointing in their own way. I wouldn't even really call it challenging, just two distinct and equally sorta "meh" phases. Der Duft's site says it's a scent that makes "a statement," which is weird because my main issue with this is that I can't tell what the fragrance is trying to say. There's 2 distinct completely opposing sides to it, and as a whole, it's tough to make heads or tails of it. Actually, come to think of it Heads or Tails would've been a cool name for this. That said, there is a brief moment right at the beginning where it does feel somewhat interesting. I think it's what someone further down in the chain referred to as the "circus tent" phase. I like that part. I would've gone with beach ball, but circus tent is more accurate. That part is good. I feel like if it were to stay in that nook for the duration, it could pair well with, like, a Carol Christian Poell leather jacket, or some vintage Swear Criminal Skateboarders. Sadly, that phase doesn't really stick around, though, and it sorta turfs out into a nondescript soup of notes toward the drydown that doesn't really do much for me. Nothing against Prin, though-- he's created a ton of my favorite scents. This one in particular just didn't land with me.

A cypress-tobacco aromatic with fougère-like notes. Sprayed on skin it's cypress straight away, no messing, dirty, dusty and intense. Smoky and a little spicy. The tobacco is strong too, soft pouch tobacco, warm and thick. The citruses are pushed way back in the mix and that salty ambergris note starts out very clear. Act is a heavy, musky, dark aromatic. That said it does settle and a lighter, fougère-like side shows with metallic lavender and growing mossiness. And the bite of the bitter orange begins to cut through accenting the cypress's sharper side. It's not my type of scent but this will appeal to a lot of people who enjoy beautifully composed earthy tobacco or coniferous scents.

"Oh! Literally the first impression is like 'oh!' As if I opened a jar with some chemical reagents. Lime, bitter orange, lavender, amber, moss, cypress - all this is very well felt in the aroma, but it is all turned up to the maximum. Such a combination obviously gives a more masculine character. The aroma has character, but I can imagine that most people will not like this composition "

A bold twist on the classic citrus-animalic cologne, Act opens with a strikingly bitter accord that gradually evolves into a raw, nature-infused tobacco scent. Its daring composition makes it a polarizing fragrance—distinctive yet potentially challenging to wear. While I appreciate the artistic direction, it’s not one I personally enjoy. Rating: 1.5/5

I like how this fragrance mellows out but it's a little too strong in the animalic notes for me. Comes off as fecal to my nose.

Initially I get cypress and a strong dusty, lavender aroma full of it's naturally sharp, camphorous, terpenic components. It eventually calms down a bit and muted citruses reveal themselves, along with some odd sour fruity note while maintaining a dry and dusty profile. Moss, ambergris and tobacco make a very traditional masculine base of ingredients but the tobacco isn't super loud, and it's almost drowned out by the lavender, both of which are so complex that I often find it hard to guage how many ways they reach their hands into the pot of notes. Into the drydown I get something mossy, piney, dry, and bitter, some sharpness from the lavender, some dulled citruses, and a slightly animalic note. It's also kind of languid in a way which ambergris can feel- buttery, fecal, and saline. I'm left a little dissapointed because in the end it feels like a bitter orange, animalic lavender that's gone halfway in developing a unique idea and just stopped. AKA it's just messy. I think I get the mention of Boudica Wode up above, and I was hoping for something similar, but where that is comforting, delicious, and subtly animalic, this is pungent, sharp, and masculine in a very rough and dirty way. One of the first animalic fragrances where some aspect of the "stink" is not something I actually enjoy.

Lemon, lavender, cypress. Fresh and clean Then: swimming pools, chlorine and cleaning products. Weirdly I don't dislike it. I'm going to have to smell it on myself with no other fragrance in the vicinity. But as it is right now I don't think I like it enough to buy a full bottle Edit: the chlorine like smell calms down a bit and then the fragrance is very beautiful. I couldn't get past that smell at first but it is very nice. It stays chloriney a bit too long on my skin for me to enjoy it properly though I think

A serious composition that makes no jokes. A hard, animal-based tobacco injected into citruses. Orange drops seeping through nicotine teeth. Lavenders compressed into cigarette packs. I wouldn't have thought that dirtiness could be addictive and that i could surrender to it without a struggle. A hard, aromatic, coniferous tobacco. Feast for the fougere gods..

What a green, woody fougère with lots of tobacco and moss and a slight animalic note. Again, a great nose that created my favorite Zoologist like new Rhino. This fragrance has a similar vibe to this brutal beast, but is much brighter with inand more elegant. Perfect for Spring/Summer season.

Sweaty citrus / ambergis blast at the beginning. It all calms down quickly. The animalic effect spills over into a sophisticated blend of citrus, semi-sweet tobacco, some spices and a musk base. Pretty original and addictive. The best (to my nose) in the DER DUFT range.
