Silent St.

If Tide came out with a detergent for intimates with a scent called Spun Sugar it would smell just like this. I personally find it absolutely perfect! I may sometimes stray from this but I alwaaaays come back. It’s a good balance of starchy cleanness, and powdered sweetness. There’s almost something almost gourmand about the sweetness, which balances out the clean aspect, keeping it from getting that sharpness that some soapy scents get. Performance is great; I do have good skin chemistry for most scents but even still I get more than 12 hours out of it and just past arm length sillage. I’m not someone to quantify things I enjoy with whether or not it’s “worth the money”, but I will say it’s currently half off on Amazon, making the price a bit more palatable.

I took a fragrance hiatus after amassing way too many scents (is that even possible?). Anyways, amusing myself in the mall the other day, out pops a neat set of new fragrances and a designer I had never heard. Cool designs, very eye-catching, and simple yet effective bottle shape. I sampled a few, and for some reason, this bottle captivated me and I have been quite entranced since. I don't know how to attempt to describe this, but here goes: if someone took clean laundry, the pleasant scent of your mother holding you - or maybe just baby powder - and some unisex musk, then you'd end up with Silent Street. An odd blend that works great on my skin. Very intrigued. Thanks Derek Lam, I'm back in the fragrance business.

This made me wonder if I'm entirely clear on what "musk" is. Usually musk means "instant headache" for me, especially in cheaper perfumes, but I really like this. It's as innocuous as can be, but still soapy salt-sweet--to me it's the love child of Amazing Grace and Kierin's Sunday Brunch. As mentioned in other reviews, it's nothing earth-shattering... but I still find myself reaching for it constantly. Sometimes it gets a detergent soap overtone as it dries, but it softens into something a little cozier and sweeter.

I was pleasantly surprised by Silent Street. I gave a paper strip a spray, and was honestly bored. I sprayed the back of my hand, and within minutes it warmed up and projected the prettiest, fluffiest, cold musk. On me it pulled slightly aldehydic with a super subtle coconut water undertone (I thankfully wasn't getting that cucumber smell others experienced). And wow, this one has nice lasting power. *I'm revisiting this one a few months later and I definitely do get a cucumber and sweet musk vibe. It's quite nice!

MINIMALISTIC style, Bottle simplistic as well , has magnetic snap top. Nice but simple. Very pleasant white musk. Extremely clean musk , smells of laundry and cotton balls. Nothing dirty or funky here , strait up clean musk , soapy and detergent like. Very nice to my nose and you can't go wrong with this if you want a non perfume clean sort of smell , strait out of the shower ! Also one could think it's a lotion or cream smell. MINIMALISTIC sort of skin scent. The story is , first snowflakes falling ,,,

I got it from a Sephora sale, and to be honest, I kind of like it! It's like the body shop's white musk but more floral and sharp in a way? It sits nice to the skin, but still noticeable when you're sitting next to someone. Smells a lot like alcohol for the first 5 or so seconds, but dries down very nicely. It does not last very long on me, but honestly, pretty good for the price; it's a very clean and dry musk fragrance, which I will definitely be using to layer with a lot of my other frags!

This fragrance is just amazing. It reminds me of clean sheets, fresh clouds, a warm embrace, pure heaven. I discovered this in my Sephora playbox and I have been in love ever since. I love it on its own, but one day I layered it with Maison Margiela's Replica 'Jazz club' and it blew me away! Sure, $95 is a lot to spend on a linear fragrance but this is worth it. I own over 50 fragrances and this adds balance to my collection.

This may be odd but I finally figured out what this reminds me of. It reminds me of when I was a teen and I would help my ex take care of his grandfather. But to be more specific...change him, bathe him, etc. I haven’t smelled Baby Powder in a very long time but it’s coming to my mind that the scent is similar. And to make it even weirder...I kinda like it? Like, I enjoy it enough to want a bottle honestly.

Silent St is 24% EDP, so it is way more concentrated than most EDPs (8%). It is perfect for a person who cannot get fragrances to last on their skin. I love layering Silent St as a base scent with other fragrances in the 10 Crosby line. On its own, it's pure and soft. Its a Fall winter scent for me and I cant wait to begin wearing it again!

I loved this scent the first time I smelled it in Sephora, but couldn’t stomach the $200+CDN price tag for it. It was a truly memory-invoking scent though. It smelled like a musk perfume from my youth that my friend’s beautiful mother wore. It smells clean and soft, and wraps you like a soft, warm blanket.

So soft, powdery and feminine. I was a big fan of Anais Anais when I was young and this is an even better version. I cannot think of one negative thing to say about this fragrance.

How is this only 2 notes and so amazing! Love this gentle scent. I don't know why but I think this is what a cloud would smell like.

I originally tried this in the 10 Crosby sampler set that came out a few years ago. It was the only scent I liked out of all of them. I literally threw out all of the other scents in the set eventually, I found none at all wearable or interesting except for Silent St. The sampler set was even extremely pricey and i was annoyed at the loss. When I used up the sample I would not dare to buy a full bottle of this because it was so much money for basically a white musk. I did splurge on a travel spray and finished that up too. It’s been gone from my collection a little while now, I missed it but did not want to spend on it again. Well... I just came across a body spray in this at Marshall’s for $6.99!!! Snatched it right up. I am wondering now if this has finally lowered on price. Anyways, as I said I do enjoy this. It’s a very clean, white musk. Almost soapy and sometimesI just want to smell clean and soapy, sort of like a palate cleanser. Layers very well with many other scents , especially things that are on the sweeter side. Or just wear on its own when you want to keep it casual. It’s a skin scent, not huge projection but the longevity is decent. The body spray I have now is far less longer lasting, but it’s a body spray so.... So if you can get this for a good price, and you like a clean musk, this is a good one.

I used to hate white musk but have recently been craving it for some weird reason. As long as it doesn't smell like a dryer sheet fresh out of the box. I was surprised by how much I like this one. I was looking for something inoffensive to wear on a very long flight so got this in a travel spray. The opening almost verges on that dryer sheet that I hate but it mellows out and becomes less sweet, settling to a clean, cool white musk with a hint of cucumber. Only a tad powdery. It's a skin scent for sure and something that others probably wouldn't identify as "perfume". I tested a bunch of other white masks, niche and mainstream, and kept coming back to this one. My other favorites are Annick Goutal Musc Nomade and Serge Lutens Clair de Musc, all different enough from each other and I think this one sits in the middle of those 2. As the reviewer below said Silent St is the scent of a cloud.I also think icy cool water or snow might work. I've been wearing it a lot this summer but I think this would also smell great in winter.

First off: Don't bother leaving a review online if all you say is, "the worst". Try Googling, "how to write a product review" so your opinion can actually help someone. Anyways.. I received this scent in a Derek Lam discovery set years ago & was surprised that this was the only one that worked with my body chemistry. I typically DESPISE powdery/white musk scents & opt for a more complex or unique fragrance. This is definitely neither of those things, but for some reason, I couldn't get enough of it. It was my go-to workplace perfume for awhile bc it doesn't smell like perfume per se.. it's like smelling clean without actually smelling like soap. Or if the color white had a scent. I wouldn't blind buy this unless you typically enjoy powder/white musk. If you do, this is perfect for you! Lasts 4-6 hours on me. This does not in any way smell like dish soap, hairspray or Johnsons Baby Soap to me.

I Purchased the Deluxe Set of the D.L. fragrances which had the a .25oz spray of Each of his 10 frags...Out Of All of them Only 2 are FULL Bottle purchase worthy for me...This is one of those two, Silent Street takes me back to the 90's being in My 20's and when fragrances started to be marketed as Unisex which back then I Unfortunately played by the fragrance gender rules and would JUMP On marketed Unisex Fragrances! One of them being The Body Shop's WHITE MUSK, Goodness how I Loved That OIL back then and Silent Street reminds me so much of The GOOD Ole' Days!!

Light and pretty. This came in a Sephora sample box, and I expected to hate it, because I usually am overwhelmed by musk. Silent Street is actually quote soft, and the breezy floral notes are balanced well with the musk. It smells watery and cool to me as well. I often think the designers' inspiration statements just sound like marketing nonsense, but this really does evoke the scent of fresh snowfall in the city. (brisk fresh air, sand, ice, pavement). I probably wouldn't pay for a full-bottle, but am pleasantly surprised by my little sample nonetheless!

A more refined and less dated smelling take on Jovan White Musk. It also smells like what I wished Kiehl’s Original Musk smelled like on me, but Kiehl’s Musk instead reeks of ‘80s baby powder. Definitely try this if you like Body Shop White Musk or Jovan White Musk but want something a little more modern and refined. I can’t believe these sold for $120 back in the day when the range was in Sephora. It’s nice but certainly was never worth any more than the prices it goes for on eBay nowadays.

Aquatic, cool, paper-like, synthetic. Most definitely unisex. It's a minimalistic linear and light scent but it is clearly present for 4~5 hours. Some musks smell waxy and unpleasant to me, but this one doesn't. It doesn't even smell like the kind of musk I am familiar with. My impression of it is boring and lacking by itself. As someone mentioned below, it is good layering material. It has brought an extra brightness to my springy floral scents. Silent St. is like the petticoat of perfumes.

I like this more than I thought. Fortunately, I don't get hairspray at all. Both Moonlight Path and White Musk are stronger and prettier than this, but if you like those you'd probably enjoy this. It's a sweet musky scent that initially feels comfy to wear. Relaxing and reminds me of baby shampoo (the yellow one, I think) but in an airy form. Not sure if I'd want to wear this though. Lasts on skin and clothes, but becomes sweeter (on me) and less musky as it progresses.

Starts out as a cloud of hairspray, then turns to clean white sheets after showering and using white soap. Very clean 🫧 , very unisex. Imagine your love takes a nice shower in the summer, comes out of the shower in a clean white towel and you go in to give him a kiss on the neck and you smell the white soap on his skin, the soap in the air. Clean bubbles. I would call this safe. Some would call it "screechy", but none would call it bad. Also, it lasts. 7/10

Clean & classy musk; it's pretty & soft, safe inoffensive great everyday scent; a comforting floral musk that you'll enjoy just as much on a rainy day as you would a sunny. Not revolutionary, but a scent most musk lovers I'm sure would enjoy. Mr. Lam did a great job on all 10, being a person who likes a nice musk this one stood out to me. Price is a lil steep, but the quality is there. Very nice, I likey. :)

I have the ten piece set and have been trying out each scent in the set this,being the only white colored bottle caught my attention, I find this scent very much a rendition of the 90s musk! The Jovan musk type, really! Its inoffensive, a daytime scent and has good sillage. If you are looking for a white musk with a 90s vibe, this is it. Not outstanding but not so bad either. An average everyday scent.

Can’t really add much to what’s already been said..No it’s not ground breaking and dare say familiar but this is nice for the musk lovers. Light floral powdery musk. Reminiscent of old school Jovan white musk..and maybe faintly of B&BW Moonlight path..nice go to grab when you don’t want something super heavy or a too bed scent nicer if you can find it in just the fragrance mist.

I'm really glad I picked up a travel spray of Silent St. while it was on sale. I wouldn't pay full original price for this fragrance, but discounted, I think it's great. It's a powdery white musk, and it really does remind me of Moonlight Path. It's been perfect for wearing at home, cozy, clean, and completely inoffensive for anyone sharing close quarters with you.

I have many in my collection and have never been able to figure out what this scent reminds me of. After a long time of sitting on a shelf in the closet, I decided to spritz it on today. It immediately came to mind....L’Oréal’s Elnet Volume Hairspray - the big hold bottle that is to swear by! It is clean to my noise and I admit, I do quite enjoy it.

It smells like summer 100%. It's something nice to spray on if you're going to the park,, or like the beach. But, it lacks longevity and is one of the only fragrances I flat out refuse to grab if it's not a summery day. She smells like the sun, summer nostalgia, and day time.

It is purely white musk with a citrusy opening. It lasts pretty long on me, my skin does absorb musk a bit more for some reason. It makes you smell clean, fresh and good all day.

Very clean girl smell, which I enjoy! Very office and gym friendly. Not overpowering, a bit powdery. I got this at Marshall's for $14.99. It was online starting at $80.

On me it's light, soft, floral, innocent, soapy, pleasant. I got a sample of this and I like it, enough to use my sample, but probably not enough to buy the full size.

Eh, It's OK. I prefer a funky musk. No funk here. Safe, soft, pretty, inoffensive. Also, as stated before, a little too pricey.

Inoffensive, clean, classic white musk. Nice casual scent. I wish there was more longevity on my skin, but it disappears on me relatively quickly.

To me, this smelled better than expected based on the reviews I read! I do get a little of the dryer sheet element others have mentioned but it's not the worst version I've smelled (one of Clean Reserve's Avant Garden perfumes comes to mind). Overall this is a very light, clean, fresh smell. It's a bit florally, a bit synthetic, but overall pleasant. Ultimately, I'll probably pass along the sample to a friend as it's unlikely that I'll get enough wear out of this.

Silent St. by Derek Lam is an overpriced drugstore musk, all the Jovan vibes here! This scent does not last and is a faint floral musk, seriously I can’t smell this at all after five minutes. It smells “nice” as in inoffensive because it is a light pleasant smell. If you can find a bottle for less than ten bucks - great, because that’s all its worth.

I tried this twice and both times, thew the test strip away. Smells like a very watered down Jovan Musk. I like the bottle and the concept but the scent isn't my type of musk. I should add that certain musks give me nausea and this is one. I agree, if you like this just try Jovan and see if it's close enough before you pay a lot more for this.

I was excited to try this new perfume so I got sample at Sephora. I tested on my skin and after few minutes got headache. I run to the bathroom to wash my hand. I am not a huge fan of mask in perfumes. This smells on my skin so strong and and not pleasant, even after I washed my hand. Sorry, not for me.

I was very surprised to see musk listed as the only note in this fragrance. I get a blast of aquatic (or "marine") notes immediately, followed by a greenish floral scent. The musk is a base for it all, and it's a soapy musk, not the animalic or buttery kind. I didn't care for this at all.

Hotel soap. And when I say hotel, I mean the Holiday Inn. I know it sounds like hyperbole, but it's really not. This is an exact replica of mass-produced, nondescript, cheap soap. Is it a bad smell? Not at all! Is it a perfume? Not at all.

The initial blast was very hairspray,. Very fresh, clean, laundry sheet type scent. Crisp white shirt. This is truly unisex, leaning slightly masculine. I felt the need to overspray to smell this properly, and now my wrists are sticky.

i got this in a discovery set and I can't seem to check the date of it. to me, this is somewhat reminiscent of dish soap for some reason. really didn't love it. I'm sure it could work beautifully for some though

After trying this 3 times this is a hard no for me I'll let it sit for a couple more months and hopefully something will change if not in the trash it goes or maybe I'll sell it on Mercari

Im confused. So does musk smell like talcum? Anyways silent St smells mostly like vodka. This is a far weaker dupe of bbw moonlit path

Definitely not my fave. A pleasant, fresh scent but disappears in seconds! Can't believe how overpriced it is for the quality
