Portofino Sunrise

#887 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I really like this fragrance. Solid quality. Great scent. Similar to Mancera "So Blue" but without the sweetness. A very nice sandalwood sea scent with a green twist, something I haven't run into before. Got compliments immediately. Car pool, elevator and small office safe, versatile enough for any wear. Makes it to lunch. Good projection. It's another low cost winner from this house and another successful blind buy.

The name is deceiving. Like all the other Destino fragrances, this was a blind buy for me, but I thought with "Portofino" in the name, it must be super citric, like TF Neroli Portofino. Whether intentionally or otherwise, though, Portofino Sunrise is an extremely good dupe of Parfums de Marly Pegasus. I'm wearing them both as I type this review. The resemblance is uncanny. As mentioned in my review of Destino London Twilight (which is the closest 1:1 clone of LV Ombre Nomad I've come across), I hesitate to call any of the Destino frags a clone/dupe because I have no idea if Destino is intending to replicate these other fragrances or if it's complete coincidence and they independently created their own batches of these highly-regarded DNAs. Whatever the case, if you like PDM Pegasus but don't want to drop a few hundred dollars for it, buy Portofino Sunrise for $30. Pegasus might open *slightly* more powdery, while Portofino Sunrise might be ever so slightly a little brighter in its opening, but I'm really being particular because I currently have them both on each of my wrists. In a blind test, probably no one but the perfumers themselves could tell the difference. This is a near 1:1 clone of PDM Pegasus.

A shame, I can tell this is a decently made fragrance with a nice bottle and magnetic cap, but something in the notes/note combination made this more nauseating to me than any other fragrance I have tried. It's this sterile, herbal-powdery smell that only makes me think of being sick in the nurse's office at school.
