Manjo Bee

Honey forward, syrupy sweet, with noticeable marigold in the background. I have a hard time making out some of the other notes listed, unfortunately it’s a bit too thick and sweet for me, but I can see others liking this. And I very much appreciate the unusual composition!

Manjo Bee to me is a more unisex and brighter cousin of Zoologist's Bee. Both are redolent of honey and beeswax, with quite an animalic quality. What sets Manjo Bee apart is the bright marigold and yuzu tea on the opening, and a less powdery quality to the drydown - where Zoologist's Bee goes into the hive with the bees, coated in dusty pollen and becoming a bit claustrophobic, Manjo Bee for me stays translucent and sunny, still buzzing about in nature to my nose. Maybe it's the tea and hinoki bringing some greenness in the background? That bright quality keeps Manjo Bee just slightly more unisex to my nose despite being an intensely sweet scent. Great longevity and it's not a scent you go nose-blind to - I apply this one VERY lightly and can still smell it at the end of the day. Of my extensive sampling of D. Grayi's offerings, I was very surprised to have this one be my runaway favorite, as I'm not normally a sweet perfume person. But it called to me, and I was thrilled to pick up a bottle from the perfumer in LA last year.
