Red Jasmine Rice

Oh it's here! Yay! I'll just copy and paste my other review in its entirety since I've tried both versions~ JASMINE RICE: Oh BROTHER this guy STINKS!!!!! Sure, I definitely get the rice-like starchiness up front, but the jasmine is... suffocating, oh my god. The initial spray makes me cough and for the next 5-10 minutes my face is scrunched up in perma-"what's that AWFUL smell?"-mode. I don't know if it's the rice note, the jasmine, a combination of both... but this isn't even your typical animalic stink, it smells old and musty. It DOES, however, eventually, mellow out. It becomes sweeter while still retaining that rice-like quality and basically resembles the Red version 1:1. RED JASMINE RICE: So, funny story, I actually tested this one first! When ordering my first batch of samples the original was out of stock. THIS smells sweet right out of the gate!!! Not candy-sweet, but maybe like mochi? I've never tried red bean baste so I have no idea if that's what I'm smelling. Again, starchy right out the gate, and the jasmine somehow doesn't veer into stinky territory AT ALL??? I'm baffled how the two are so different! Based on reviews of the original I thought I'd dislike this but couldn't stop myself from trying it regardless; when it turned out to be rather delightful I went and ordered the original. THE BETRAYAL OF IT ALL! Anyway... this has delicate silage which is a personal preference of mine so I'm loving it, and the "rice powder" accord reminds me of the one found in Givenchy Irresistible Nude Velvet, so another win for me! Another deviation from the original is the Red version does become a touch yeasty/bread-like in the dry down, but it's not overwhelming. Longevity of both versions is about 5-6 hours. Moral of the story: if you hated the OG, DO NOT write off the Red Jasmine Rice variant! Give it a shot!

really lovely jasmine tea scent. there's definitely another note in there that sets it apart from some of the more straightforward jasmine tea scents (i.e. one day), maybe the saffron? it smells a bit like pine trees. and I do smell the rice note right out of the gate which is really cool. makes me imagine sipping tea and eating a rice ball in the woods, it's very grounding and peaceful. the d.grayi base is headache-inducing in my experience, that's been the case for all the samples I've tested so far including this one, but otherwise I would definitely consider buying this.

Red Jasmine Rice stinks a bit less than the original, but still unwearable. The packaging is beautiful, though.

This smells so good. At first spray, this comes across as very sweet and quite balsamic... almost even fruity and melon like. However, the balsamic note becomes a beautiful Asian seasoned rice smell... almost like a tumeric and saffron rice fragrance. Still, very powdery like cocoa butter and clay. Very sensual and natural. This is a success to my nose.
