Hana No Oto

This has a hint of the wet, green, airy florals I adore in Relique d’Amour by Oriza Legrand. It’s also similarly intimate and fleeting. Like many fragrances made from natural materials, to me this opens with a sort of bug spray aspect, maybe from the Japanese lemon. Luckily that sharpness fades pretty quickly and you’re left with a beautiful, fresh, damp rose on a warm oud background. I do think the lemon keeps it bright throughout and makes it less noticeably woody, and more floral leaning. It’s very fresh and natural smelling. It smells like you’re in a garden of blooming flowers in the springtime. I really love this and I wish it wasn’t a million dollars, but I guess the quality is probably worth it.

This perfume opens very green. When I was a kid and even sometimes I pick the buds of the small white roses and peel them to reveal the yet green petals. This is how Hana No Oto opens, very fresh and green. Then there are some hints of the bitterness of the stem or maybe the oud yielding to a young flower that starts to mature into a more mellow persistent accord. The history told here is different from the Kyara one.

A tribute to the majesty of the Japanese rose, this woody floral showcases it in all its glory right up front and center. The rose dominates right from start to finish. At first it is supported by some lemon and hinoki, followed by slight jasmine. As the perfume settles completely, one gets the agarwood, a Vietnamese Jinko grade quality without any animalic facets. Comparisons to Kyara, the supreme offering from this house are inevitable. This scent does not have the heft or the mystique of Kyara but it is a nice economical alternative to those seeking a scent in a similar style from the house. Although scents like Kurokami are much better reflective of this aesthetic. The unisex scent has moderate projection and good longevity. All in all, sadly a bit tired and redundant. Enjoy!

Opens up with a (very brief) note of washed t-shirts gone sour. Luckily that ends quickly and you're left with a highly realistic earthy rose with the stem left intact. A very citric rose actually, not in the style of Taif but more of an "added yuzu"-affair. Quite malty aswell, like a mixture of rye and toasted oats. Oud is probably in here as well, in low amounts though. All I can feel is the ever so slightly smokey nuances of something akin to Malaysian oud oil. If you're not sniffing up close, the scent provides a beautiful, ethereal deep red rose. A pleasure to wear and masterfully crafted as per usual!
